Chapter 245 Accompany Me to the Banquet!

Hearing Calliope's words, James was taken aback for a moment and then glanced at her.

Then he shook his head and said, "Don't overthink it. I'm giving you money because I want to help, not because I expect anything in return. If it makes you feel better, think of it as a loan. Pay me back when you can."

"Really?" Calliope shouted, her excitement clear.

"Of course!" James nodded with a smile.

"Mr. Smith, thank you so much! You're such a good person!" Calliope exclaimed, her eyes shining. To her, James's gesture was a lifeline.

"Don't mention it," James waved it off. "You don't have any plans later, right?"

"No," Calliope replied without hesitation.

"Then come with me to the banquet," James said casually, starting to walk forward.

Since inheriting a ten trillion dollar fortune, James felt like he hadn't done anything meaningful, mostly wasting time on indulgences.

But now, using his money to save a life and change a family's fate felt significant, way more meaningful than using it to get back at someone like Jennifer.

Five minutes later, guided by Atticus, James walked into the hotel lobby.

The place was packed, everyone waiting for James to show up.

James quickly scanned the room, recognizing many entrepreneurs he'd seen on TV.

Once, he never imagined he'd be rubbing shoulders with these people, let alone be their boss.

But now, they didn't seem so out of reach.

When Charles and Terry saw James, they quickly approached him with smiles. "Mr. Smith, you're here?"

The crowd buzzed at Charles's words, all eyes on James, their faces full of disbelief.

They hadn't expected the super-rich heir to dress so simply, looking just like any other student.

Though surprised, these seasoned folks quickly masked their reactions and warmly greeted James.

After all, he was their boss now.

James exchanged a few pleasantries, with Charles standing behind him, introducing people one by one.

Calliope timidly followed James, finally grasping the weight of Mr. Smith's presence.

James didn't need to say a word; just showing up caused a stir, drawing all the big shots to him. His influence was unmatched, even by Charles, Terry, or Atticus.

After some brief chit-chat, the banquet officially kicked off.

Charles had originally planned for James to say a few words on stage before kicking off the party. But James, not one for the spotlight and unsure of what to say, quickly declined.

The banquet lasted two hours and finally wrapped up.

All the bigwigs from James's companies had their chats with him and achieved what they came for. So, after the party, they said quick goodbyes to James and Charles and headed out.

"Mr. Smith, it's getting late. How about I arrange a room for you and Calliope?" Atticus suggested, still trying to nudge James towards some female company.

Calliope's eyes flashed with shyness, but she didn't object. After all, James had helped her so much, and she was open to the idea of a relationship if it came to that.

"No need. Just make sure Calliope's mom gets her surgery. I'll have Charles take me back," James said, turning down Atticus's offer and walking out of the hotel.

Calliope felt a pang of disappointment, thinking maybe James just wasn't into her, which might explain why he didn't want to share a room.

Atticus, on the other hand, was stunned, unable to fathom how James could resist so many beautiful women. It was beyond him.

Meanwhile, Jennifer, after getting five million dollars from James, had been living it up and never returned to school. Sandra disappeared along with her.

As for Michael, after the last incident, he vanished from James's life.

The absence of these three was a blessing for James, as they had always made his school life miserable.

James finally enjoyed some rare peace!

When he had classes, he attended them and occasionally treated Paul and Tyler to better meals, as they had helped him in the past.

When he didn't have classes, he worked at Cynthia's bar, not for the money but to lend a hand.

Sylvie hadn't shown up in a while either. James later found out she had won third place in a StreamVerse live streaming competition and landed a lead role in a web series, so she was busy filming.

However, Sarah and Pamela often came to school looking for James, but he only saw them as friends.

Knowing who James really was, they tried various ways to seduce him, but he stayed unfazed.

In short, he was having a pretty good time at school.

He had money to spend, beautiful women around, and most importantly, no more troublemakers like Jennifer and Michael.

Half a month later, school finally went on summer break!

Before, James wouldn't have been too excited about summer break because it meant working summer jobs with no time to rest. But this summer was different!

This time, James was going to Laura's grandfather's 90th birthday party!

Just the thought of seeing Laura soon filled him with excitement.
