Chapter 131 Two Conditions

On the other side, in the classroom, one student ran into the classroom, gasping for breath, and shouted at Janet, "Teacher Carter, James might have been expelled!"

Janet sharply turned to the student, eyes wide, and asked, "How do you know that?"

"I just saw Mr. Knight from the records office carrying a file into the principal's office!" the student replied.

"It's over, James might really be expelled!" Janet said with a look of despair.

As a teacher at the University of Lumina, Janet naturally knew what the records office was for.

Once someone toohs out a file, there were only two possibilities: either a teacher was leaving, or a student wastransferring or being expelled.

"No, I have to go find the principal!" Janet whispered, then turned and ran towards the principal's office.

Donna hesitated for a moment, then followed Janet out.

Upon hearing the news of James's expulsion, Michael and Jennifer immediately exchanged smiles and began discussing where they should celebrate tonight.

Paul and Tyler, on the other hand, looked utterly desperate. They never expected that James would actually be expelled like this.

In the principal's office at the University of Lumina, Arnold and Louis knelt in front of James, begging him to give them another chance.

James, however, was contemplating how to punish the two of them.

After all, if he really expelled them, finding a suitable principal in a short time wouldn't be easy.

But if he didn't expel them, it would be unfair to the girls they had wronged, as these two had no right to be teachers.

So, for a moment, James was also hesitant.

At this moment, the sound of high heels suddenly came from outside the office.

James paused upon hearing the sound.

Then, there was a knock on the door.

"Principal, are you in there?" Janet called out urgently.

"Teacher Carter, why are you here?" James was shocked to hear Janet's voice, then realized she might be here to plead for him.

James, hesitant to disclose his true identity, leaned towards Arnold and whispered, "Get up. When Janet enters, don't reveal my true identity to her. Do you understand?"

"Okay!" Arnold quickly nodded, then stood up and sat at his desk.

James stood in front of Arnold with his head down, looking like a student who had done something wrong.

Louis and Charles sat on a sofa to the side.

"Who is it?" Arnold composed himself and called out expressionlessly.

"Mr. Sanders, it's Janet!" Janet quickly said.

"Teacher Carter, come in then!" Arnold said calmly.

Hearing Arnold's words, Janet quickly pushed the door open and walked into the office.

As Janet caught sight of the file on Arnold's desk, her conviction that Arnold was on the verge of expelling James grew stronger.

"Mr. Sanders, I don't think James is a thief. I've known James for a long time, and I don't think he's that kind of person!" Janet said to Arnold.

"Yes, Mr. Sanders, I lost the money, but I don't want to pursue it anymore. Can you not expel James?" Donna added.

In that moment, as Janet and Donna pleaded on his behalf, James felt profoundly touched. He even had the urge to reveal everything to them right then and there.

But James worried that Janet and Donna might feel deceived by him, so he suppressed the urge.

"Teacher Carter, you don't need to worry about whether James is a thief. We are still investigating. Once we have the facts, I will inform you immediately," Arnold said sternly to Janet.

"But Mr. Sanders..."

"Teacher Carter, you should trust me. If you can provide evidence right now that James is not a thief, I can release him immediately. But if you can't, then please wait," Arnold said, not wanting to waste time with Janet as he was preoccupied with whether James would expel him.

Seeing Arnold's attitude, Janet didn't dare to say more and turned to James, saying, "James, you must cooperate with Mr. Sanders' investigation, okay?"

"Teacher Carter, I understand," James replied softly.

"Donna, let's go!" Janet sighed helplessly, then turned and walked out of the office.

Donna hesitated briefly, but then joined Janet in leaving, both of them hoping that Arnold would vindicate James.

Seeing Janet and Donna leave, Arnold quickly stood up and said to James, "James, please have a seat. How did I do just now?"

James sat in Arnold's chair and said softly, "Arnold, do you still want to continue being the principal?"

"Yes, James, please give me another chance!" Arnold said excitedly.

James had initially planned to expel Arnold, but Janet and the others' appearance made him realize that expelling Arnold now would arouse suspicion. Moreover, he still had unresolved issues with Michael Elbert and needed Arnold and Louis to continue playing along.

So James changed his mind and said, "Alright, I won't expel you, but you must agree to two conditions."

"Anything, James, even ten conditions!" Arnold said excitedly.

"First, you must not tell anyone that I am the chairman of the University of Lumina's board. If anyone finds out, I will expel you immediately," James said slowly.

"James, don't worry. Only a few of us know about this, and I won't tell anyone else!" Arnold agreed readily, even though he didn't understand why James wanted this.

"Second, you and Louis must write down all the bad things you've done at the school, sign it, and promise never to do such things again. If you don't, I will not only expel you but also hand these documents over to the police." Knowing that Arnold had a history of wrongdoing and that he needed leverage to keep him and Louis in line, James made his statement.

"This..." Arnold hesitated.

"If you're unwilling, I can expel you right now," James said slowly.

"I'll do it, I'll do it!" Arnold said excitedly. "James, don't worry. I'll give you everything by tomorrow!"

"Okay," James nodded lightly, then turned to Louis and said, "Now go get Elbert for me."

"Okay, I'll go right now!" Louis quickly agreed and then turned to leave the office.
