Chapter 199 The Insane Jennifer
The phone rang twice before Jennifer picked up, yelling, "James, you seriously have the nerve to call me at this hour?"
James smirked, thinking to himself how good of an actress Jennifer was.
If he didn't already know the truth, he might've been completely fooled by her.
"Jennifer, your acting's impressive. Still putting on a show?" James asked coldly.
"Acting?" Jennifer paused, then feigned confusion. "What acting? James, what are you talking about?"
"Cut it out. Sandra told me everything. The photos were Photoshopped by her at your request, and you had her post them at school. What's the point in keeping this up?" James said coldly.
Jennifer went silent. After a long pause, she said, "Didn't think you'd figure it out so fast. I thought it would take you at least a month!"
"Enough with the games. Why did you do it?" James asked angrily.
Jennifer gave a faint, amused smile and continued, "Why? I heard there's a new Michelin three-star restaurant in Lumina City. Michael was planning to take me there, but since we've broken up, I won't get the chance to try it."
She paused for a moment, then added, "How about you treat me to dinner there now? You're so rich—surely this meal is no big deal for you?"
James couldn't hide his irritation. He thought, 'At a time like this, Jennifer is still focused on dining at a Michelin restaurant?'
"Jennifer, I'm not in the mood for this. Tell me why you did it, or I'll call the police!" James said in a low voice.
"Oh, are you going to call the police?" Jennifer sneered. "You think I'm as naive as Sandra? Even if you call the cops, I won't tell you why I did this. I've got nothing left—Michael's gone, and you don't want me either. Call the police if you want, but just know that when I get out, I won't let this go."
"You..." James felt disgusted. Jennifer was truly insane.
Jennifer's complete disregard for her own dignity made her dangerously unpredictable.
James worried that if he pushed her too far, she might do something even crazier.
"I'm waiting for you at the Michelin restaurant on Maple Leaf Avenue. If you're not here in an hour, I'm leaving!" Jennifer hung up.
James hesitated for a couple of seconds, then decided to give in and headed out of the University of Lumina.
He had thought that revealing his true identity to Jennifer would make her back off.
But he never expected her to become even more unhinged after finding out.
"Looks like Charles was right. Letting others know my identity is a bad idea." James sighed, then hailed a taxi to the Michelin restaurant Jennifer mentioned.
At 2 PM, the taxi stopped in front of the Michelin restaurant. James paid the fare, got out, and quickly glanced at the place.
The restaurant had a cozy Italian vibe with nice decor and outdoor seating for a romantic setting.
But James wasn't in the mood to appreciate any of it. He just wanted answers from Jennifer, so he hurried inside.
As James pushed open the restaurant door, a stunningly dressed woman happened to be exiting at the same moment.
Moving quickly, James didn't notice her until they collided.
The woman's coffee splashed across her clothes, leaving stains on her outfit. Instinctively, she let out a sharp scream and looked up at James with a scowl.
She screamed and looked up at James with disgust. "You idiot, don't you have eyes? Didn't you see me coming out?"
James took a closer look at her. She had wavy hair, a blue blouse, and a red pencil skirt, looking very sexy even when angry.
"Idiot, I'm talking to you! Didn't you hear me?" she continued to shout.
The security guard at the entrance quickly ran over. "Miss Diaz, what's going on?"
She turned to the guard and yelled, "What's wrong with your restaurant? You let idiots like this in. Can people like him afford to eat here?"
The guard glanced at James with disdain. "Young man, this is a Michelin three-star restaurant. A meal here costs at least a thousand bucks. If you can't afford it, apologize to Miss Diaz and leave."
James hesitated. He had no time for this. He just wanted to find Jennifer. "I'm sorry, I was in a hurry and didn't see you," he said, trying to move past her.
But she wasn't letting it go. "Stop right there!" she yelled.
"What else do you want?" James asked, irritated.
"You spilled my coffee and stained my clothes. Do you think you can just say sorry and leave?" she shouted, clearly agitated.
James tried to keep his cool. "How much is your outfit? I'll pay for it."
"Pay? Can you afford it?" she sneered.
"Just tell me how much. I'll give you the money and be done with it," James said. He had no patience for this.
The woman got even angrier. "How are you talking to me? What kind of attitude is that?"
At that moment, James pulled out a wad of cash and threw it in her face.
She was instantly stunned.
