Chapter 172 Terry's Confidant
Back in the private room, Timothy returned with a broad smile on his face, clearly in high spirits after seeing Xavier off.
"Who was that guy?" Michael asked as soon as Timothy walked in.
"You don't recognize Mr. Murphy?" Timothy looked surprised.
"Nope," Michael shook his head.
"Do you know Yancy?" Timothy asked, a bit exasperated.
"Wait, you mean Yancy from Lumina City?" Michael's eyes widened.
"Yep, that Yancy. Xavier is his brother. Now you get it?" Timothy said calmly.
"Oh! No wonder you were so polite to him!" Michael exclaimed.
Jennifer and the others looked confused by their conversation.
"Honey, who's this Yancy?" Jennifer asked Michael softly.
"Yancy is the famous gang leader in the southern part of New District, Lumina City. Essentially, anyone in the entertainment venues of the southern district works for Yancy. Without Yancy's blessing, entertainment places like nightclubs and KTVs wouldn't be able to open at all. And if they somehow do manage to open, they would go out of business quickly," Michael explained softly.
"Wow, I had no idea Yancy was that powerful!" Jennifer said, surprised.
"Of course!" Michael grinned, then turned to Timothy. "It's amazing you know people like Xavier and Yancy."
"Yeah, Mr. Reed, that's incredible!" Jennifer chimed in.
Timothy's expression grew smug as he listened to their praise. After all, he was closely associated with Xavier, and the more impressive Xavier's status sounded, the more prestige Timothy earned for himself.
"If there's a chance, I'll introduce you to Yancy. He's a good guy," Timothy said with a smile.
"Mr. Reed, you've met Yancy?" Michael asked, excited.
"I've had a few drinks with him," Timothy said casually. "Do you know why Yancy is so powerful in the southern district?"
"No idea," Michael shook his head.
"Well, when Yancy started out, he was Terry's driver and even saved his life once. So, Terry trusted him and put him in charge of the southern district," Timothy explained mysteriously.
"Terry?" Michael gasped, looking shocked.
To Michael and the others, Terry was a legend. They'd heard countless stories about him but never met him. They knew Terry was the real power in Lumina City.
"By the way, Mr. Reed, what about James?" Jennifer asked, more concerned about him than Timothy's stories.
"Since this place is under Mr. Murphy's watch, we can't do anything here. We'll wait until that guy gets off work. I'll make sure he kneels and apologizes to you," Timothy replied with a smile.
Michael and Jennifer lit up with excitement at Timothy's words. They'd been waiting forever to get back at James.
Two hours flew by, and it was almost 1 a.m., but the bar was still packed.
In the center of the dance floor, glamorous men and women gyrated their waists and hips to the pounding beat. The dance floor was a sea of movement, with scantily clad women mingling among the men, their bodies swaying rhythmically under the strobe lights. Their pale, alluring figures glowed brightly, and their long hair danced with every motion.
The whole place had a steamy vibe.
Meanwhile, James navigated through the crowd, balancing a tray as he moved. With his good looks, he often found himself the target of some flirtatious advances from female patrons. Occasionally, he received a tip or two from well-dressed, attractive women.
However, these tips seemed insignificant to James at the moment.
After two hours of relentless work, James finally got a chance to take a break. He found a spot at the bar, sat down alone, and let himself relax, enjoying the view of the sensuous women on the dance floor.
Just then, a familiar voice spoke up. "James, you must be exhausted today. I'll give you a little extra bonus on your paycheck this month!"
James turned and saw Cynthia beside him.
Cynthia looked stunning in a spaghetti strap top that showed off her curves and a short black skirt that barely covered her hips. Her long legs were on display, and she wore high-heeled sandals, making her look incredibly attractive.
Since their last encounter, James couldn't look at Cynthia without feeling something. If it hadn't been for a call from Laura that day, he and Cynthia might have actually hooked up.
Though Cynthia was only about twenty-six or twenty-seven, she had the charm of a mature woman. She wasn't as overtly sexy as Janet, but she had an allure that drew people in.
"Why are you staring at me like that? Don't you recognize me?" Cynthia asked with a smile, seeing James in a daze.
"Cynthia, you're here?" James replied awkwardly.
"Yeah, I had some other things to take care of today, so I came a bit late," Cynthia nodded.
"Got it," James said, about to continue the conversation.
But then Zoe ran up to Cynthia and whispered, "Ms. Phillips, Yancy is here. Do you want to go say hello?"
Cynthia's expression changed slightly at Zoe's words.
"James, if you're tired, you can go home. I need to entertain a guest," Cynthia said, then hurried off towards the entrance in her high heels.
James squinted at Cynthia's back, his mind clouded with confusion.
He'd noticed that Cynthia's expression had shifted noticeably after she heard Zoe's words.
