Chapter 166 Laura's Apology

Laura stared at James, her face a mix of emotions.

She realized now that James wasn't a fraud and had actually found a powerful investor for her. She regretted her earlier harsh words. If she hadn't misunderstood him, things wouldn't have gotten this bad.

Laura had no other options. If James didn't get Charles to invest, her company would go bankrupt. Donovan and his father were already in trouble and couldn't help.

"James, I'm sorry! I apologize!" Nancy suddenly said.

Nancy, usually so proud, was now willing to apologize to James.

She didn't know how James knew someone like Charles, but he hadn't lied about finding an investor for Laura's company.

So, Nancy felt her previous insults were unfair and decided to apologize.

"You're apologizing to me?" James asked, surprised.

"Yeah, I still think you're a loser, but you didn't lie today. I'm sorry for what I said before," Nancy admitted.

Nancy had always been this way, speaking her mind without considering consequences, which sometimes made her unpopular but always kept her real.

She had tried to humiliate James because he had taken advantage of her before, and she couldn't get over it.

James smiled at Nancy, not expecting her apology.

Laura hesitated, then said, "James, I'm sorry too. I shouldn't have doubted you."

When he saw Laura's upset face, James's heart softened.

"Laura, remember, I'm your fiancé. No matter what, I won't abandon you. But I need you to trust me more. I'm not as useless as you think."

Laura felt a wave of shame wash over her. James was right. She had always seen him as a good-for-nothing wimp, which was why she had doubted him so much.

She had been more willing to believe outsiders than to trust James.

But after today, her view of James had changed.

Maybe James wasn't a rich heir, but he wasn't as ordinary and incompetent as she thought. Knowing people like Charles and Ian was impressive for someone like him.

"Since Miss Hall is your fiancée, I'll do you a favor. I've decided that Golden Peak Investment Company will invest 100 million in Miss Hall's company. If her company can turn a profit within the next three years, we'll consider putting in even more money."

James smirked, thinking Charles had some serious acting chops.

Laura was thrilled and stammered, "Mr. Wilson... is what you said true?"

Charles nodded. "Absolutely. I'll have my company prepare the contract now. Miss Hall, let's discuss this elsewhere."

"Okay, Mr. Wilson, follow me!" Laura quickly led James and Charles out of the conference room.

After they left, Sam and the others knelt, begging Ian for forgiveness.

Ian felt helpless. They had offended James, not him, so he couldn't help them.

Laura took Charles and James to her office to discuss the investment. Since Charles already knew about Laura's company, the discussion went smoothly.

Charles, acting as chairman of Golden Peak Investment Company, soon signed the contract with Laura. He invested 100 mbillion in her company, gaining 51% of Felia Company's shares, which meant James now owned 51% of Laura's company.

After signing, Golden Peak transferred the money to Laura's company's account. Laura quickly allocated severance pay to her shareholders.

At this moment, the shareholders were still preoccupied with figuring out how to win Ian's forgiveness, completely ignoring the matter of severance pay. Their primary concern was the looming threat that if they had truly angered Golden Peak Investment Company, all their businesses would likely collapse within two months. The financial damage from such a collapse far outweighed any severance compensation.

Initially, they had hoped to use Laura's situation as a way to ingratiate themselves with the Diaz Family, led by Donovan. However, their plans backfired spectacularly. Instead of gaining favor with the Diaz Family, they found themselves entangled with an even more formidable force.

After the contract, Laura briefly introduced her company to Charles. He was interested in her cosmetics brand, believing it could set a new trend.

At 3 PM, James, Charles, and Ianleft Laura's company. Laura personally escorted them to the entrance.

"Alright, Miss Hall, no need to see us off. You should go back," Charles said with a smile.

"Okay, Mr. Wilson, visit anytime if you have the chance!" Laura replied, smiling.

"Sure!" Charles nodded and headed to his Bentley.

As James was about to leave, Laura hesitated and then called out, "James, can you come over for a moment? I have something to say."
