Chapter 180 Kept by Some Big Shot
Before long, Yancy's face was a bloody mess, looking utterly pitiful.
Jennifer, Michael, and the others just stared at James, totally confused.
They still couldn't figure out why Yancy was so scared of Janet.
After landing a series of brutal slaps to Yancy's face, James finally felt his hands growing numb. He paused and turned to Janet, saying, "Miss Carter, I'm tired; let's call it a day."
"Alright," Janet nodded and walked over to Yancy.
Yancy stood there, eyes bloodshot with humiliation. The bar was packed, with at least a hundred people watching. Although he was a significant figure in the Southern New District, seeing himself beaten to a pulp by James felt like a massive blow to his pride. He was overwhelmed by shame and had no idea how to retaliate against James.
"Do you know who he is?" Janet pointed at James and asked Yancy coldly.
Yancy gritted his teeth and stayed silent.
"Remember this, James is my brother. From now on, no one messes with him. If I see it happen again, you'll regret it. Got it?"
Janet said, emphasizing each word.
Yancy wasn't dumb; he knew Janet was letting him off the hook. So he quickly said, "Miss Carter, I understand!"
"Get lost!" Janet said indifferently.
Yancy sighed in relief and quickly led his men out of the bar.
Everyone watched them leave, feeling a mix of emotions. Who would've thought it would end like this?
James looked frustrated because he had planned for Terry to handle it, but it turned out differently.
"Why do I feel like I'm Miss Carter's kept man?" James muttered.
"Sorry for the trouble today, everyone. To make up for it, all drinks are half off tonight. Enjoy!" Cynthia shouted to the bar patrons.
The crowd cheered and went back to their activities.
Even though James beating Yancy was big news, with Yancy gone, there was no point in sticking around.
Jennifer, Michael, and Timothy looked at James with a hint of resentment.
They had thought Yancy would teach James a lesson, but Janet showed up and not only saved James but made him look even more arrogant.
"James is really lucky!" Jennifer said with disdain.
"Alright, let's go before Miss Carter sees us," Michael sighed and started walking out of the bar.
After Yancy and his men left, Cynthia quickly instructed the staff to attend to the guests.
James walked over to Janet and said softly, "Miss Carter, thanks for today!"
"No need to be so formal. I got you this job at the bar. If someone bullies you, of course, I have to help!" Janet replied casually.
"Miss Carter, do you know Yancy? Why is he so afraid of you?" James asked, puzzled.
"It's nothing, really!" Janet waved her hand. "I don't actually know Yancy, but I know his boss. He probably thinks I have a good relationship with his boss, so he's scared of me."
James was taken aback and whispered, "Miss Carter, are you being kept by some big shot?"
In James' view, someone like Yancy's boss should have a real heavy hitter in the social scene!
"Get lost!" Janet rolled her eyes at James. "You've been beaten up; go home and rest. I haven't seen Cynthia in a long time, so I'm going to chat with her!"
Janet then walked flirtatiously towards Cynthia, ignoring James.
James knew Janet was avoiding his questions, so he didn't push it and left the bar. He planned to ask Terry about Janet since Yancy was Terry's subordinate. If Yancy knew Janet's identity, Terry must know too.
Outside, James saw Terry and his bodyguards standing nervously at the door, unaware of what had happened inside.
"James, you're out!" Terry called out when he saw James.
"Sorry to keep you waiting so long!" James glanced at Terry and his bodyguards, feeling a bit embarrassed.
"We were late today," Terry replied guiltily, then looked at James's injuries and asked, "James, what happened to your face?"
"Let's talk in the car. I have something to ask you," James said, knowing the bar entrance wasn't a good place to talk.
"Alright!" Terry quickly agreed and opened the car door for James, who got in.
"James, what happened inside, and what about your injuries?" Terry asked concernedly after getting in the car.
"Let's not talk about that now. Do you know Janet?" James asked softly.
"Janet?" Terry was taken aback by the name. "James, do you mean Miss Carter?"
