Chapter 244 My Name is Calliope
"Here?" Marigold's face scrunched up in confusion as soon as she heard James.
"Mr. Smith, you want to do it here?" she asked, looking puzzled.
"Of course not. But you do need to go in," James replied calmly, his eyes on Marigold.
Marigold just stared at him, completely lost. What did he mean by "go in"?
"Mr. Smith, what exactly do you want me to do?" she asked, still confused.
"It's simple: clean the toilets here for a month. If you think it's too dirty and refuse, I'll have Atticus deal with you," James said, still calm.
Marigold's eyes went wide. She never expected James to bring her here to clean toilets.
She thought she could dodge being a cleaner, but James had other plans.
James was the type to repay kindness and seek revenge.
The girls at Fairy Lake had mocked him before, but it wasn't anything serious.
But Marigold? If James wasn't the owner of Fairy Lake Resort, she would've had Atticus blind him. James wasn't about to be nice to someone like her.
"Marigold, did you hear Mr. Smith? Do you want to clean the restroom, or should I handle you?" Atticus shouted at her.
Marigold looked up at Atticus. The toilet was gross, but she knew being in Atticus's hands would be way worse.
So she quickly shouted, "Mr. Smith, please let me go! I'll do anything you want, just let me go."
"I'm not interested in someone like you, so stop begging," James said, expressionless, then turned and walked away.
Atticus and Calliope followed James, leaving Marigold standing in front of the stinky restroom, tears streaming down her face.
She had never been so humiliated.
As a beautiful woman, men always adored her. When had she ever been so belittled?
"Mr. Smith, if you think Marigold's punishment is too light, I can find someone to teach her a lesson," Atticus whispered, worried about James's mood.
"No need. I don't need to be too harsh with a woman," James said. He just wanted to give them a warning, not push them too far.
"Mr. Smith, your generosity is unmatched," Atticus smiled.
"Don't do that again. I have a fiancée and I'm not interested. Just do your job well, and I won't mistreat my employees," James told Atticus.
"Okay," Atticus nodded eagerly at James's instructions.
Even though he agreed, Atticus couldn't help but glance at Calliope standing next to James. He thought to himself, 'Mr. Smith says he doesn't need this, but he still brought a beautiful woman along. What man isn't interested in women?'
Calliope was also pretty nervous, not knowing what was coming next.
"What's your name?" James suddenly turned to her and asked.
"Mr. Smith, my name is Calliope," she stammered, clearly nervous.
"Don't be nervous," James said, patting her shoulder. "I called you out because I heard your mom is sick and needs a lot of money for treatment, right?"
"Mr. Smith, you..." Calliope looked up at him, confusion flashing in her eyes.
"How much does she need?" James interrupted, asking calmly.
"About eight hundred thousand dollars. I've saved over a hundred thousand myself," Calliope replied timidly.
"Eight hundred thousand dollars..." James smiled faintly, then turned to Atticus. "Get the money ready for Calliope and let her leave after the banquet."
"Okay, Mr. Smith!" Atticus quickly agreed.
"Mr. Smith, what do you mean by this?" Calliope was shocked by James's generosity, giving her eight hundred thousand dollars without even asking what illness her mother had.
"I don't mean anything else. Don't worry, I won't do anything to you. I just think it's admirable that you're willing to do so much for your parents. Eight hundred thousand dollars might mean saving a life to you, but to me, it's nothing. Once your mom recovers, find a legitimate job and stop doing this. Got it?" James said calmly.
Calliope's eyes widened, too excited to speak. She didn't know how to express her feelings.
"Calliope, what are you standing there for? Hurry up and thank Mr. Smith!" Atticus reminded her.
"Thank you, Mr. Smith! Thank you!" Calliope quickly bowed deeply to James.
"Don't mention it," James smiled faintly.
"Mr. Smith, I know everything in this world comes with a price. If you have any requests, just ask. As long as I can do it, I will," Calliope said to James.
"Any requests?" James was taken aback and then looked her up and down.
Although Calliope's figure wasn't as striking as the beauties at Fairy Lake, her pure aura was very charming, making her a cute girl.
Having fun with such a cute girl would be quite interesting.
"Mr. Smith, you saved my mom's life. I'll do anything you want. I know you have a fiancée, but I can be your lover. I won't interfere with your personal life," Calliope said sincerely, no longer as nervous as before.
