Chapter 291 The Handsome James

Laura glanced at James and asked, "How come you've never mentioned your family before?"

James took a deep breath and replied, "My parents passed away when I was in elementary school. This piece is one of the few things my mom left me, so there's no way I'm giving it to a stranger."

Laura nodded and said softly, "James, now I get why you didn't give the piece to Miss Greer."

Nancy, looking worried, added, "It makes sense. It's a keepsake from his mom. But now James has offended both Jessa and Irvin. Given Irvin's character, he will surely seek revenge. What should we do now?"

Lily thought for a moment and suggested, "Maybe we should send James back first. If he leaves Willowbrook, Irvin shouldn't be able to bother him."

"No way!" Laura shook her head firmly. "James came here for my grandfather's birthday. If he leaves now, my grandfather will be really upset."

Nancy started to say, "Actually, even if he attends the banquet..."

She wanted to say that even if James attended the banquet, it would merely humiliate him, but she stopped.

Lily said helplessly, "That's true. It wouldn't look good if he didn't show up. We'll just have to wait until after the banquet to send him away."

"That's all we can do now," Laura sighed and said, "Let's not stress about it anymore. It's getting late; let's go eat!"

"Alright, I'm starving!" Nancy cheered and dragged Lily towards the parking lot.

Laura sighed, watching Nancy, and said nothing more. The situation was what it was, and she had no better solution. She'd just have to wait until after the birthday banquet to send James away.

Just then, Laura's phone rang. She quickly answered it.

"Mom, are you and Dad back at the hotel?" Laura asked with a smile.

"Laura, are you with Nancy and Lily? Your grandfather is in a good mood today and wants you all to come home for dinner!" Isolde said cheerfully.

"Dinner?" Laura was surprised and frowned. "What about James?"

"Your grandfather wants to meet James. Even though he's not well-off, he's part of the family now. Sooner or later, they have to meet. Just bring him along," Isolde replied, sounding a bit resigned.

Laura's face brightened at this. If her mom was okay with James coming to dinner, it meant she was starting to accept him.

"By the way, Laura, if you have time, take James to buy a new outfit. Don't let him show up looking like a poor student," Isolde added gently.

"Got it!" Laura replied happily and hung up.

"What's up, Laura?" Nancy asked as she walked over.

"Grandpa wants us to come home for dinner and bring James along," Laura said with a smile. "But James needs a new outfit. It's his first time meeting Grandpa, so he should look presentable. Let's take him to the mall."

Not wanting to hurt James' pride, Laura didn't mention that it was her mom's idea.

"Awesome! I've always thought James' clothes were terrible. Let's get him something nice!" Nancy exclaimed, opening the car door.

Five minutes later, Laura drove them to a popular mall in Willowbrook. The downtown area was as lively as Lumina City.

Inside the mall, Laura headed straight to a high-end store and picked out a black suit for James.

When James stepped out of the fitting room, he left Laura, Nancy, and Lily speechless.

James usually dressed so plainly, but in the black suit, he looked sharp and confident. His good looks and great physique were now highlighted by the expensive suit, making him look incredibly handsome.

"Never expected you to be so handsome after cleaning up," Nancy said, eyeing James up and down.

Laura was equally impressed. At least now, no one would mistake him for a delivery guy.

Lily smiled at Laura and said softly, "Laura, I didn't realize you had such good taste. James looks really handsome."
