Chapter 235 Fairy Lake Resort

At 6 PM, James pulled up to Fairy Lake Resort in a taxi.

Fairy Lake Resort was a big deal in Lumina City. It had got everything: outdoor hot springs, an amusement park, KTV, nightclubs.

But hanging out at Fairy Lake Resort wasn't cheap. Just getting in cost $2,000 each.

If you wanted to stay a few days, you were looking at tens of thousands of dollars. It was definitely not a spot for the average Joe.

When James first moved to Lumina City for college, he heard his classmates rave about this place.

Back then, he was just a broke delivery guy and never imagined he'd own the place one day.

Yep, you heard that right. Fairy Lake Resort was one of James's properties now.

Outside the resort, the parking lot was packed with luxury cars. The cheapest ones were over a million bucks, and some were even two or three million.

James got out of the taxi and took a quick look around. The entrance had these two huge white columns, a musical fountain in front, and a big green forest behind. The whole place looked like it was wrapped in a green mist, super fancy.

The old James would've been thrilled to be at such a swanky place, but now he couldn't care less.

"Sir, hello, please show your ticket!" Two security guards in black uniforms stopped him at the entrance, looking all serious.

"Ticket?" James was a bit taken aback and asked, a little confused.

"Sorry sir, you can't enter without a ticket!" One of the guards replied, with a hint of disdain.

James's clothes were pretty shabby, so the guards figured he wasn't rich and stopped him.

If he were a big shot, these guards would've been all over themselves to let him in.

James just smiled at them. He knew they were judging him, but he didn't make a fuss. Instead, he pulled out his phone and called Charles.

"Mr. Smith!" Charles answered quickly.

"I'm at the entrance of Fairy Lake Resort. Send someone to get me," James said calmly.

"Okay, I'll send someone right away!" Charles replied.

James hung up without saying much more.

The two security guards looked at James, surprised. They could tell from his tone that he might be someone important, but no matter how hard they looked, they couldn't see him as a rich guy.

While James was waiting for Charles's people, he heard a familiar voice behind him, "James?"

He turned around quickly and saw Nancy standing there.

Even though James had a soft spot for Laura, he didn't feel the same about Nancy, so he wasn't planning to engage with her.

"James, what are you doing here?" Nancy asked, looking puzzled as she approached with her friends.

Given how pricey Fairy Lake Resort is, Nancy was surprised to see James there.

"What about you?" James shot back, not answering her question.

"I'm here to have fun with my friends!" Nancy pouted.

"Who's this guy?"

"No clue, Nancy, when did you start hanging out with losers?"

"Yeah, look at his clothes. He looks like a total bum. How did he even get in here? It's embarrassing."

Nancy's friends were eyeing James up and down. Seeing his shabby appearance, they quickly lost interest and started whispering among themselves.

"James, what are you doing here?" Nancy repeated, louder this time.

"I'm here to have fun too," James replied coolly.

"Seriously?" Nancy was stunned. Then she sneered, "James, stop kidding yourself. How could you afford this place? Are you here to work as a waiter?"

In Nancy's mind, James couldn't even cover his living expenses without Laura's help, so how could he afford a place like this?

"Whether I can afford it or not is none of your business," James said, not wanting to waste any more time on her. He started to walk away.

"You!" Nancy's eyes flashed with anger.

Nancy's friends crowded around her, looking puzzled.

"Nancy, who is this guy?"

"Yeah, Nancy, how do you know someone like him?"

"This guy is my cousin's fiancé," Nancy replied flatly.

Her friends were immediately shocked, their mouths dropping open.

"Nancy, you must be joking, right? This loser is your cousin's fiancé?"

"Yeah, how could your cousin be into someone like him? Your cousin is a famous beauty in Lumina City!"

"Nancy, you must be lying."

Nancy's friends were all in disbelief, practically shouting at her.

Laura was well-known in Lumina City. Back in school, tons of rich guys tried to date her, but she turned them all down.

Nancy's friends were from wealthy families in Lumina City, so they knew all about Laura's reputation.

So when they heard that James was Laura's fiancé, they were completely floored.
