Chapter 397 Long Time No See, Linda

The next morning, around eight.

James slowly opened his eyes, waking up from what was probably the best sleep he'd had all month.

He stretched, got up, and started getting ready to head out. He had a lot on his plate today.

Just as he was about to leave, there was a series of urgent knocks on the door.

"James, is that you back?"

It was Linda's voice from outside.

James was surprised to hear her, then called out, "Yeah, it's me. Hang on a sec!"

He quickly threw on some clothes and rushed to open the door.

As soon as he did, he saw Linda standing there, looking stunning. She was in a low-cut spaghetti strap skirt, her hair casually draped over her shoulders. She wasn't wearing any makeup, but her flawless features and bright eyes were captivating. Her long, beautiful legs were on full display, and James couldn't help but be momentarily stunned by how beautiful she looked.

She seemed to be even more beautiful than she used to be in his memory.

"James, it really is you!" Linda covered her mouth in excitement when she saw him.

"Yeah, it's my room. Who else would it be?" James replied with a grin.

"I haven't seen you in a while. I thought you moved out!" Linda explained, looking at him.

"Nope, just been busy with other stuff lately, so I haven't been around."

James stepped aside to let her in.

Linda hesitated for a moment, then walked into his room with a smile. "I thought I'd never see you again!"

"Come on, even if I was moving out, I'd let you know."

James smiled back, then asked, "By the way, did you tidy up my room while I was gone?"

"Yeah, I come over to clean up from time to time. I was about to head out when I saw your door close, so I knocked. I didn't expect you to actually be back!" Linda said with a smile.

"Actually, I..."

James started to explain that he might not be around much anymore since Laura knew his identity and he didn't plan to stay here.

"By the way, James, a girl named Jennifer came looking for you a few times. She seemed really anxious, probably something urgent!" Linda interrupted before he could finish.

"Jennifer?" James was taken aback. He'd been in Willowbrook for so long, he'd almost forgotten about Jennifer. But he knew why she was looking for him.

"Got it." James nodded at Linda.

Just then, Linda's phone rang.

She quickly pulled it out, glanced at the screen, and said softly to James, "James, I gotta take care of something. I'll catch up with you tonight!"

"Okay!" James nodded, a bit helplessly.

Linda flashed him a smile and then left the room in her high heels.

James watched her leave, a hint of confusion in his eyes. He sensed she was in a hurry, but as far as he knew, Linda didn't have any friends in Lumina City.

"Could it be that Linda has a boyfriend?" he muttered to himself.

James's phone suddenly rang.

He picked it up and saw it was a call from Charles. After a moment's hesitation, he answered.

"Mr. Smith, have you decided how to handle Savannah?" Charles asked directly.

James paused for a moment, then said softly, "I'll call Glenn now, and we'll go talk to Savannah. If she agrees to stand with us, great. If not, we'll go with your plan."

"Okay, Mr. Smith!" Charles shouted excitedly.

After thinking it over last night, James realized Charles had a point. His situation was precarious. Whether it was the Edwards family or the people from Rockefeller, if they decided to move against him, he might not even have a chance to fight back.

So, for his own safety, James felt it was necessary to place a spy in the Edwards family.

However, he was very resistant to Charles's proposed method—making Savannah his woman and getting her pregnant to threaten her.

Sure, Savannah was beautiful and had a sexy figure, but James didn't want to get involved with her. She seemed too dangerous, and he worried that if he got entangled with her, he might never be able to get rid of her.

But he also knew that Charles's method might be the best option at the moment. If he really had to get involved with Savannah, it wouldn't be the worst thing.

James's plan was simple: talk to Savannah first. If she was sensible, great. If not, he'd have no choice but to follow Charles's plan.

At this critical moment, James felt his safety was more important than anything else. He didn't want to repeat his mistakes.

As Charles put it, those who achieve great things don't sweat the small stuff. Matthew's situation had been a wake-up call for James. To inherit Willard's estate, he had to be ruthless and not give the enemy any chance to breathe.

James took a deep breath, then pulled out his phone and dialed Glenn's number.
