Chapter 30 The Son-in-law Who Came to the Door
A few minutes later, James left Janet's dormitory. However, her enticing silhouette lingered in his mind, her figure exuding true sensuality. This kind of sexiness could not be matched by student girls like Jennifer or Ashley.
Ever since glimpsing Janet and Ashley in the nude, James had gradually developed a desire to find a girlfriend. When he was with Jennifer before, he never had a chance to make a move; she viewed him solely as a tool to spend money on. Now that Jennifer had found a new sugar daddy, she heartlessly discarded James.
"Who should I choose as my girlfriend?" James pondered, stroking his chin. Such thoughts would never have crossed his mind without inheriting a trillion-dollar estate. After all, he used to be penniless, a mere delivery guy, and should have been invisible to girls.
But now, with his vast inheritance, he had become the wealthiest man in the world overnight. James believed that with the right expenditure, no woman could resist him.
"Donna seems promising." Thinking this, James envisioned Donna's alluring figure and began contemplating how to win her over.
Just then, James's phone rang abruptly. Checking his phone, he saw that it was Charles calling.
James answered the call.
"James, are you free tomorrow?" Charles asked very respectfully.
"Yes," James inquired.
"James, I've already arranged a meeting with your fiancée for tomorrow morning at 9 in the Moonlight Garden. Is that okay?" Charles explained slowly.
Upon hearing this, James was taken aback, puzzled.
"James, have you forgotten? To inherit the chairman's estate, you must marry Laura. Otherwise, the entire inheritance will be donated to charity," Charles explained calmly.
"I remember now." James suddenly realized.
He had initially considered finding a girlfriend at school, but it seemed unnecessary now.
"Is Laura attractive?" James asked curiously.
"James, go and see for yourself tomorrow. You'll find out then," Charles answered with a smile.
"Regardless of her looks, I must marry Laura to inherit the estate, correct?" James asked helplessly.
"Yes," Charles replied plainly.
"And if I don't marry Laura, I won't receive a penny?" James frowned, continuing his inquiry.
"Yes!"
"Why does my great-uncle have to do this? If he wanted me to inherit the estate, why add such a condition?"
James had never met Laura before, and he believed that any girl who willingly came to him must be undesirable, overweight, and unattractive. He felt frustrated by the idea.
"Okay, I understand. I'll be there tomorrow!" James replied softly.
"James, there is one more thing I need to tell you," Charles continued.
"What is it?" James asked, slightly puzzled.
"Miss Hall and her family are unaware of your true identity. In their eyes, you are still just a delivery guy. So, you must not reveal your true identity to Miss Hall. If you do end up marrying her, you will become an 'in-law' of The Hall family," Charles explained further.
"An 'in-law'?" James was taken aback by the revelation.
"Yes, you must keep your true identity hidden from Miss Hall from now on. You can only be The Hall Family's in-law!" Charles reiterated.
"This is outrageous! Making me marry an undesirable woman and then forcing me to become an in-law—it's unacceptable!" James, like any regular man, was repelled by the idea of becoming an in-law. He was quite emotional in his outburst.
"James, both of these conditions were set by the former chairman and were written in the inheritance contract. Perhaps you didn't read it carefully at the time," Charles explained somewhat helplessly.
"You're trapping me like this! If I'd known inheriting this estate would involve so much hassle, I wouldn't have signed!" James felt incredibly frustrated.
"Are you planning to give up this inheritance?" Charles asked, taken aback.
"No way!" James quickly backtracked, realizing he had merely vented his frustration. He couldn't possibly give up a trillion-dollar inheritance just because of these conditions.
Having finally escaped a life of poverty, James had no intention of relinquishing his newfound wealth.
"James, I didn't mean anything by it. I was just asking," Charles clarified mildly.
"Then when can I reveal my true identity?" James asked after a moment of contemplation.
"Just once you've married Miss Hall," Charles replied calmly.
"Okay!" James said curtly before ending the call.
Initially, James had been full of anticipation for his future girlfriend after admiring the nudity of Ashley and Janet. However, Charles's call shattered all his fantasies.
"Laura must be an ugly woman that no one else wants, otherwise why would she need to recruit an in-law. It's just too much!" James vented his frustration before switching off his phone and heading towards the classroom.
In James's understanding, becoming an in-law was something only aimless men did. Although he had been poor before, it didn't mean he lacked dignity. He could endure hardship for a living, but he couldn't bear being someone's in-law just.
James had been so lost in thought about his potential meeting with Laura that he didn't notice the beautiful woman walking towards him.
The two collided heavily.
The woman, in eight-centimeter heels, was pushed backward after hit by James. She instinctively screamed and then instinctively grasped James' clothes.
James lost his balance and ended up falling to the ground while holding onto the beautiful woman.
"Let go of me!" The woman exclaimed as James pitched towards her, but it was too late.
James's weight bore down heavily on the woman, and they both crashed to the ground.
