Chapter 272 Lily Arrives
In the room.
James let out a sigh of relief when he saw that Laura finally believed him.
He finally managed to muddle through the situation, unaware that the impromptu fabricated excuse had actually moved Laura deeply.
Laura knew James was dirt poor, had no background, not even on par with an average college kid.
But after everything that had happened, she started to think he wasn't as useless as everyone made him out to be.
At the very least, he had helped her out a bunch of times, and whenever she was in a jam, it was always James who stepped up to the plate.
He always gave her this weird sense of security.
Laura looked at James, hesitated for a couple of seconds, and then softly said, "James, since you now have such a huge debt, how do you plan to pay it back? Forty million dollars is no small amount."
James was caught off guard by her question and said, "I haven't figured it out yet, but don't worry. I'll work hard and try to pay it off as soon as I can."
"Don't stress too much. My company's doing better and better. It won't be long before we start making a profit. Once that happens, I believe we can pay off this debt quickly," Laura said seriously.
"Okay!" James nodded with a smile.
Just then, Laura's phone rang.
She quickly pulled it out and glanced at it, then softly said, "Hello, Nancy!"
"Laura, where are you now? I've already arrived at Willowbrook..." Nancy's voice came through the line.
"I'll come get you now!" Laura quickly replied.
"Okay, Lily and I are waiting for you at the train station!" Nancy replied happily.
"Alright!" Laura nodded and then hung up.
"James, Nancy, and Lily Rose have arrived at Willowbrook. Come with me to pick them up!" Laura said after putting down the phone.
"Lily?" James was puzzled.
"You haven't met Lily yet, have you? She's my second aunt's daughter. Back in The Hall Family, Nancy and Lily were the closest to me..." Laura explained softly.
"I see..." James nodded, realizing the Hall Family was indeed huge with too many people to keep track of.
Yesterday, Laura's eldest aunts, Thalia and Thalassa, were against Laura, but now there was Lily.
'What kind of woman is Lily?' James wondered.
If Lily turned out to be like Thalia and Thalassa, both of whom were super materialistic, James would really be troubled.
"Come on, James, let's go!" Laura saw James still standing there and quickly urged him.
"Okay!" James nodded and followed her out of the room.
Half an hour later, they pulled up to the Willowbrook train station.
Before he even got out of the car, James spotted Nancy waiting by the roadside.
Nancy was rocking a white dress today. Her hair was in twin ponytails, and with her long legs and sneakers, she looked youthful and vibrant.
Next to her was another stunning woman with a killer figure, a slender waist, and flawless skin. She had this athletic vibe that made her look sexy and alluring. Her light brown shoulder-length hair was casually draped over her shoulders, and even without makeup, she had this unique charm.
Her looks and figure were on par with Nancy's, but to James, she still didn't quite measure up to Laura.
"Nancy, Lily!" Laura waved when she saw them.
Nancy ran over with Lily and gave Laura a big hug, shouting, "Laura, it's been a month! Did you miss me?"
"Of course!" Laura replied with a smile, then turned to Lily and said, "Lily, long time no see!"
"Yeah, I've been wanting to visit you in Lumina City, but never found the right time. This time, I came for an elder's birthday and thought I'd drop by!" Lily replied with a smile.
"Lily, you have to stay for a few more days this time. I'll show you around!" Laura said happily.
"Of course, I'll stay until you get sick of me!" Lily said quickly.
Meanwhile, James got out of the car.
Lily was surprised to see him and softly asked, "Laura, who is this?"
"Oh, Laura, why did you bring James here? What's he doing here?" Nancy cut in before Laura could answer, sounding pretty annoyed.
"Nancy, do you know this guy?" Lily asked with a smile.
"Of course, I know him. Lily, this is Laura's fiancé, the most useless guy I've ever met," Nancy replied quickly.
"Nancy, don't talk nonsense!" Laura frowned and said.
Nancy pouted and shut her mouth.
"Fiancé?" Lily's eyes widened, and she gave James a once-over.
Lily knew Laura's taste well, but she couldn't understand why a proud woman like Laura would choose an indecent man like James as her fiancé.
