Chapter 391 What did you just say?

James never thought Charles would ask him to take back Rockefeller!

To James, this was just a pipe dream. Sure, he had inherited Willard's estate, but getting Rockefeller back? No way.

He knew that reclaiming Rockefeller wasn't just about money. If it were, Willard would've done it ages ago!

Plus, Willard almost got killed by those Rockefeller people. Asking James to go up against them was like sending him to his grave!

If it weren't for Willard's massive estate, James would still be delivering food. Forget about taking back Rockefeller; he could barely manage the company he had now with zero experience.

"Mr. Smith, Willard's life's work was Rockefeller. He was always plotting to get it back, but he passed away before he could. So, I think reclaiming Rockefeller is Willard's last wish. As his heir, you have the duty to fulfill this task!" Charles said earnestly to James.

"But there's no clause in the contract about this, right?" James said, feeling helpless.

"True, there's no clause, but Mr. Smith, don't forget, Willard left you a huge fortune. His biggest wish was to get Rockefeller back. Aren't you willing to help with that?" Charles said softly.

James hesitated for a moment, then said, "Can you stop messing with me? I just want to inherit this estate in peace. Why are you giving me so much trouble?"

"Mr. Smith, you're not inheriting just any estate; it's the estate of the world's richest man!" Charles reminded him gently.

"Even if it's the world's richest man's estate, you can't ask me to do something so dangerous!" James shouted, then continued, "You just told me how those Rockefeller people dealt with Willard. They planted a bomb on his plane! These people are ruthless killers. If I try to take Rockefeller from them, who knows how they'll kill me! I finally inherited the estate, and I want to enjoy life. Don't send me to my death, okay?"

"Mr. Smith, you don't need to worry. We'll definitely protect you!" Charles said quickly.

"How? With those three bodyguards you got for me? Can they handle the Rockefeller people?" James asked, pouting.

"They should be fine. If you think it's not enough, Mr. Smith, I can find a few more for you!"

"No need, the three of them are enough!" James shook his head, worried that if Charles really found more bodyguards, it would be even more annoying.

"Besides, even if you can keep me safe, tell me, how am I supposed to take back Rockefeller? I'm just a regular college kid. Except for having money, I don't know squat. How am I supposed to deal with those Rockefeller people?" James pressed Charles.

"Mr. Smith, you don't need to worry about that either. Taking back Rockefeller isn't something that happens overnight, so there's no rush. I can let you learn how to manage our company first. Once you get the hang of that, we can talk about taking back Rockefeller. What do you think?" Charles said calmly.

"Forget it, I'm not interested in managing the company!" James waved his hand dismissively.

"Are you willing to let Willard die with regrets?" Charles shouted, clearly frustrated with James's attitude.

"Of course, I don't want him to die with regrets, but his last wish is too dangerous! If it was something I could actually do, I'd help, but taking back Rockefeller is not that simple. How can I take it back? Even if I agree now, can I really take back Rockefeller?" James shouted back.

"Mr. Smith, as I said, if you're willing, I can help you grow quickly. In time, you'll definitely be able to take back Rockefeller. That's why I chose to help you inherit the estate today instead of helping Matthew. I know that if Matthew inherited the estate, he would definitely not agree to deal with Rockefeller. But Mr. Smith, you might be different," Charles said seriously.

"Sorry, on this matter, my attitude is the same as Matthew's. I don't want to mess with those Rockefeller people because I know I'm not their match. I just want to live my life!" James waved his hand and got up to leave.

"Mr. Smith, are you really not planning to take back Rockefeller?" Charles called after him.

"I've inherited enough. I don't have such big ambitions. I don't get why you have to go against Rockefeller. Isn't it good enough as it is now?" James said, exasperated.

"Mr. Smith, your enemy isn't just Matthew. The Rockefeller might also be watching you. Even if you don't go after them, they might come after you!"

"If they want to come after me, let them. I'm not going to provoke them, and I'm not interested in what you're saying," James replied.

"But..." Charles didn't want to give up.

"No buts. I'm not going against Rockefeller!" James said, then turned and walked out of the office.

"Mr. Smith, if I told you that a certain executive in Rockefeller was related to your parents' death, would you change your mind?" Charles suddenly said just as James was about to leave.

James froze for a moment. He slowly retracted his foot that was already out the door, turned to Charles, and asked, "What did you just say?"
