Chapter 45 I Buy That Villa

Although Pamela felt reluctant, she dared not defy Edward's intentions and could only lead James to the sand table in the real estate office.

Edward, knowing that James couldn't afford the villas there, didn't linger and walked out of the office.

Meanwhile, Stephanie stood there looking anxious and helpless, aware that bringing James there today had essentially offended Pamela. If James left, she would surely be fired by Pamela.

Hence, Stephanie was now at a loss, only able to bow her head and play with the hem of her clothes.

Taking James to the sand table, Pamela pointed to the last villa in the corner, impatiently stating, "This is the last villa here with a garden. Including the handling and tax fees, the full payment amounts to eight million dollars!"

Upon hearing this figure, James couldn't help but pause.

"Because this villa is relatively remote, the price is slightly lower. For other villas, the price would be at least ten million dollars," Pamela calmly replied, scanning James and adding, "However, even for this cheapest villa, I don't think you can afford it."

Hearing this, James glanced at Pamela but remained silent.

"Enough with the pretense. Someone like you can't afford a villa," Pamela disdainfully remarked. "I don't want to waste your time. I won't dwell on what happened earlier."

After Edward left, Pamela turned mocking once again.

At this moment, with the close proximity between James and Pamela, James could distinctly catch a faint scent of perfume emanating from Pamela.

Apart from Pamela's challenging personality, her figure was indeed impressive and she could be a stunning beauty. Moreover, clad in a white shirt, her ample bosom stood out.

"How do you know that I can't afford this villa?" James coldly inquired, looking at Pamela.

"You know whether you can afford it or not," Pamela replied. "Let alone eight million dollars, even if you could produce eighty thousand dollars today, I'd be impressed!" Pamela's tone dripped with disdain as she spoke to James.

James smirked upon hearing Pamela's words and turned to leave in silence.

"Goodbye, loser! I know you can’t afford it. What a waste of time!" Pamela couldn't help but sneer under her breath as James prepared to exit.

James wasn't unable to afford the villa. Instead, he believed its location was subpar.

After inheriting a fortune worth trillions of dollars, if he were to purchase a house, it would undoubtedly be in the best location and the finest villa.

Witnessing this scene, everyone present presumed James failed to afford the villa.

Little did they know it wasn't that the villa was too expensive for James, but it was the villa that couldn't measure up to his current status.

"Stephanie, why are you still standing there? You can leave now!" Pamela rolled her eyes at Stephanie in annoyance.

"Miss Gray, can I come off work?" Stephanie asked awkwardly upon hearing Pamela's words.

With a sardonic smile, Pamela teasingly responded, "Yes, you can now come off work permanently. You don't need to come back!"

Stephanie brought James into the real estate office, resulting in Edward harshly reprimanding Pamela.

Feeling uncomfortable, Pamela now sought to vent her frustration on Stephanie who looked stunned upon hearing Pamela's words with a deeply aggrieved expression.

"Miss Gray, I..." Stephanie attempted to explain.

"Are you deaf? You've been fired. Get out!" Pamela coldly ordered.

Stephanie hesitated for a moment, tears welling in her eyes.

Stephanie's family was already tough. Her father had been severely ill a few years ago, depleting all their savings.

It was her mother who had worked hard to fund Stephanie's education at university.

Balancing studies and work, Stephanie worked to pay for her education and support her family. Thus, this job was crucial for her.

Upon hearing a commotion behind him, James turned to look at Stephanie and saw her crying. He asked, "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine." Stephanie wiped a tear at the corner of her eye, turning to leave with James.

After a moment of hesitation, James stopped in his tracks, turning to where Pamela was located. He calmly asked, "Why are you firing her?"

"As the manager of this real estate office, I can fire whoever I want. None of your business," Pamela replied with a contemptuous tone.

"Mr. Smith, let's not dwell on this. Let's go," Stephanie whispered, tugging at James.

James, showing sympathy, glanced at Stephanie without the intention of leaving. He walked towards Pamela and spoke up, "Stephanie did nothing wrong today. You have no reason to dismiss her."

"I don't need to explain to you why I fired her. She has poor judgment and brings the poor into our office, affecting our reputation," Pamela sneered.

"Do you think she lacks judgment?" James softly countered.

"Yes, letting someone like you into our office embodies her poor judgment..." Pamela was interrupted by James who declared, "I will buy that villa."

"What did you say?" Pamela widened her eyes in shock, extremely surprised as she shouted at James.

"I will buy that villa," James repeated calmly.
