Chapter 369 Matthew's Arrival
"Mr. Smith, have you forgotten the mastermind behind this?" Charles reminded James.
James was taken aback by this and then quietly asked Charles, "Do you mean the Edwards family will also come?"
"Yes, Matthew has put in so much effort, and with Savannah still in your hands, they will definitely come!" Charles nodded lightly.
"Do you know who will come today?" James hesitated and asked.
"It should be Matthew himself!" Charles answered truthfully.
James frowned upon hearing this and said expressionlessly, "I think this Matthew is eager to take this inheritance from me."
Charles looked at James without saying a word.
"Well, let's meet my fate." James was now very calm, as the worst outcome would be losing the right to inherit the estate. James had long seen through these things, so he wasn't nervous at all.
However, Charles's expression was very serious, and it was unclear what he was thinking.
James walked directly to the conference room at the end of the hallway.
The conference room was already full of people. A dozen men in suits were sitting in front of computers, checking documents.
These documents were all of James's recent spending records. If it was confirmed that James had indeed lost his inheritance rights, these lawyers would make James compensate for all the money he had spent during this period.
When everyone heard James's footsteps, they turned to look at the door and then stood up in unison, greeting James, "Mr. Smith, hello!"
"Hello!" James replied expressionlessly and then walked into the conference room, casually finding a chair to sit down.
James was still the legal heir of Willard, so these lawyers were very respectful towards him.
Charles walked to James's side and stood quietly behind him.
"Earlier, you said these people were called by Matthew. Could they have already colluded with him?" James hesitated and asked Charles softly, squinting his eyes.
"Mr. Smith, you don't need to worry about that. These people, like me, are Willard's trusted aides, and they are mainly responsible for the inheritance issues. They won't have any dealings with anyone, so they will maintain a fair and just attitude in this meeting about your inheritance." Charles said softly to James.
"That's good to hear." James nodded lightly upon hearing this.
"These people are professional lawyers; they won't be biased towards any side, so you don't need to worry about that!" Charles continued, looking at James.
"Even if they aren't biased towards Matthew, I probably won't be able to inherit the estate." James sighed lightly.
"That still depends on the lawyers' decision!" Charles added softly.
James couldn't help but look at the lawyers in the conference room, his eyes showing a complex expression.
A middle-aged man with black-framed glasses walked towards James and said calmly, "Mr. Smith, hello, I am Eldon Soto, the head of Willard's legal team!"
A middle-aged man with black-framed glasses walked towards James and said calmly.
"Mr. Soto, hello!" James replied indifferently.
"Mr. Smith, here's the situation: last night, our legal team received a report from Willard's relative, the legal first heir, Mr. Matthew, saying that you have violated the terms of the inheritance contract. So we rushed to Lumina City overnight to verify the situation with you. But before the arbitration result comes out, we will temporarily freeze all your assets. If it is confirmed that you did not violate the inheritance contract, these assets will be unfrozen!" Eldon said to James.
"I understand." James nodded lightly.
"Matthew hasn't arrived yet, so please wait a little longer, Mr. Smith." Eldon continued, looking at James.
"Alright!" James nodded again.
"Do you have any questions for me?" Eldon asked, seeing James's calm demeanor, feeling a bit curious.
After all, if it were an ordinary person, they wouldn't be as calm as James in such a situation. But James acted as if nothing had happened.
"I have nothing to ask. You go ahead with your work. I will cooperate with your investigation," James said indifferently.
"Okay!" Eldon nodded and then turned to leave.
Charles saw Eldon leave, a trace of helplessness flashing in his eyes, and then said, "Mr. Smith, you should explain to Mr. Soto. After all, you revealed your identity last night for a reason. If you communicate well with Mr. Soto now, there might be a chance!"
"Didn't you say these lawyers wouldn't be biased towards any side?" James asked indifferently.
Charles was taken aback by James's words, then sighed helplessly, not knowing what to say for a moment.
Seeing Charles not speaking, James sat on the sofa and closed his eyes to rest.
In the blink of an eye, more than half an hour had passed.
Suddenly, footsteps were heard outside the conference room.
Everyone turned to look outside the conference room upon hearing the footsteps.
A young man in a suit, escorted by a driver and bodyguards, slowly walked towards the conference room.
The young man was very handsome, with chiseled features and a well-defined face. However, James sensed a hint of ruthlessness in the young man's eyes, a look he had never seen in his peers.
"Mr. Smith, this is Willard's relative, Matthew!" Charles whispered to James.
James nodded lightly and continued to sit quietly on the sofa, not intending to greet Matthew.
After all, James and Matthew were now completely at odds, and James felt no need to put on a friendly act.
Soon, Matthew walked into the conference room. Upon entering, he immediately focused his gaze on James.
