Chapter 12 Taken Advantage
On the other side, in the VIP suite, Michael made calls to nearly all of his friends, but none were able to lend him money.
Upon noticing Michael's inability to settle the bill, the elegant lady promptly summoned the security guard, who stood at the doorway, casting a firm, expectant gaze upon Michael.
If he didn't produce the money today, it'd be nearly impossible for him to leave here.
"Mr. Brown, please think of a solution quickly!" Jennifer remarked anxiously upon seeing the security guard at the door.
Don't worry, I'll call my dad now and have him transfer the funds over! Michael replied helplessly.
He never anticipated today would unfold in this manner, where not only did he fail to embarrass James, but he also ended up humiliating himself in front of his classmates.
"I'll go to the restroom first," Jennifer said, picking up her bag and headed out of the suite.
"I'll come along too," Ashley and Sandra called out, seeming wary of Michael's request for money, and followed Jennifer out of the suite.
Inside the restroom, as Ashley rummaged through her makeup bag to touch up, she remarked, "Jennifer, Ashley, have you noticed that James seems like a different person?"
"He generously footed a seventy-thousand-dollar bill to treat everyone. And it seems there's still a substantial sum inside that delivery box of his," Sandra whispered while washing her hands.
"So what if he treated everyone to a meal? Isn't he just a delivery guy?"
"I believe he was dumped by Jennifer and wants to flaunt his status in front of her to save face," Ashley retorted with a tone of disdain.
"Someone like James, practically a pauper—I must have been blind to be with him. Now, I bitterly regret it. Spending a year's savings on others, he probably even borrowed money. I wonder what's going through James's mind!" Jennifer added, her tone scornful.
"Exactly, he's just pretending to be affluent!" Sandra scoffed.
Just then, the yellow-haired Morris entered the restroom, playfully patting Jennifer's backside, then drunkenly inviting, "Hey beautiful, care to join us for a drink?"
Jennifer, dressed provocatively in a cool white camisole revealing her fair shoulders, drew attention to her ample bosom, which would inevitably stir the interest of any normal man.
Startled by the unwarranted act, Jennifer swiftly turned around, delivering a resounding slap before declaring, "Look yourself in the mirror! With your current demeanor, you're unworthy of treating me to a drink."
Ever since being with Michael, Jennifer has broadened her horizons and developed a feisty attitude.
Today, James treating everyone to a meal had left her feeling unsettled.
Now that she was taken advantage by a random person, Jennifer did not hold back.
After being slapped by Jennifer, Morris first froze for a moment, then touched his face and shouted, "You wretched woman! You must have had a death wish!"
Seizing the moment, she stomped on Morris' groin as he writhed in pain, doubled over, and groaned on the floor.
"Keep your eyes open next time; I'm not someone you can toy with!"
Jennifer warned him coldly before striding out.
"With your attitude, you're not fit to buy Jennifer a drink. You're as despicable as James!" Ashley sneered, casting a disdainful glance at Morris before leaving the restroom.
"You three! You'll pay for this!"
Moaning in pain, Morris remained on the ground, clutching his groin, his face contorted with agony.
Meanwhile, Jennifer, Ashley, and Sandra paid him no heed as they returned to the suite.
Inside the suite, Jennifer noticed Michael still on the phone with his father.
Faint echoes of his father's reprimands filled the oppressive atmosphere, compelling everyone to keep their heads down in silence.
Sensing Michael's distress, Jennifer opted not to mention the incident of Morris taking advantage of her in the restroom.
Twenty minutes later, Rex Brown arrived at Azure Pavilion in his car.
Spotting his father's vehicle, Michael rushed out, exclaiming, "Dad, you're here at last!"
A loud slap echoed through the air.
As the middle-aged man stepped out of the car, he saw Michael approaching and promptly delivered a resounding slap.
"You prodigal child! You've squandered seventy thousand dollars of mine on a single meal! Wait and see how I deal with you at home!" Rex Brown raged, his eyes glaring at Michael.
The classmates watched the scene unfold with a sense of resignation.
Having known Michael for so long, they had never witnessed him in such a hapless state.
With his father publicly slapping him, Michael felt utterly embarrassed.
Blaming it all on James, he believed that without James, he wouldn't have faced such ignominy.
