Chapter 282 The Feisty Vivienne

Laura stepped forward and said coldly, "Vivienne, if you really want a violin showdown, then let's do it!"

Laura didn't know much about the piano, but she'd been playing the violin since she was a kid, so she was pretty good at it. With Vivienne acting all high and mighty, Laura couldn't hold back anymore.

"Why should I compete with you? I want to go up against that delivery guy!" Vivienne wasn't dumb. She figured James might be great at the piano but probably not the violin, so she didn't want to risk it with Laura and picked James instead.

James just stood there, looking at Vivienne with a hint of helplessness in his eyes. He said softly, "But I don't want to compete with you. It's just a waste of time."

Then he walked over to Laura and said calmly, "Let's go. She's out of her mind. Don't mess with her."

"Okay," Laura nodded slightly, ready to leave.

But Vivienne, seeing them about to leave, got all huffy and ran up to James, shouting, "You can leave, but you have to apologize to me first!"

"Apologize to you?" Laura was speechless. She couldn't figure out what was going on in this woman's head.

"Yeah, if you don't dare to compete with me, then you lose. Therefore, you have to apologize!" Vivienne said, glaring.

"Do you have any shame? We don't even ask you to apologize. How dare you want us to apologize? Why should we?" Nancy said, utterly exasperated.

"I don't care. You have two choices: either let this delivery guy compete with me in violin or apologize now. Otherwise, no one's leaving!" Vivienne shouted, totally unreasonable.

James didn't want to argue with Vivienne. He knew it was pointless to reason with someone like her. When she suggested a violin competition, he didn't want to bother because he thought he couldn't play the violin at all.

Back when he was a kid, James did learn a bit of violin while studying piano with his mom. But he gave it up pretty quickly because he wasn't that into it and focused all his energy on the piano. Now, he could only play one piece on the violin, and it wasn't even famous, just something his mom had composed.

That was why he refused Vivienne.

"Vivienne, this isn't your place. We can leave whenever we want, and it's none of your business!" Lily shouted, unable to take it anymore.

"If you leave now, it means you admit defeat!" Vivienne pouted.

"You are utterly shameless. I've never seen anyone like you!" Nancy shouted, clearly frustrated.

"Are you going to admit defeat or let that loser compete with me in violin? Make your choice!" Vivienne blocked the exit, looking all smug and arrogant.

"I'm leaving anyway. There are so many of us; I don't believe you can stop us all by yourself!" Nancy reached out to push her away.

"If any of you dare touch me, I'll have my uncle arrest you all. Even if he can't press charges, he'll lock you up for a week!" Vivienne shouted.

Lily suddenly remembered that Vivienne's uncle was the police chief in Willowbrook. If things got out of hand, it could be a real mess, so she quickly stopped Nancy.

"Lily, why are you stopping me?" Nancy shouted, clearly annoyed.

"Nancy, don't be impulsive!" Lily replied softly.

"Why aren't you leaving? Come on, try it. " Vivienne's expression grew even more smug when she saw Lily stopping Nancy.

Seeing this, James seemed to understand Lily's thoughts. He knew that if he didn't agree to compete with Vivienne in violin today, they wouldn't be able to leave.

So, after a moment of hesitation, James walked up to Vivienne and said, "Are you sure you want to compete with me in violin?"

"Yes!" Vivienne nodded without hesitation.

"You can compete with me in violin, but I have one condition," James replied calmly.

"What condition?" Vivienne asked, a bit taken aback.

"I haven't played the violin before, so I don't know many pieces. If you really want to compete with me, let me play a piece I know. Then, we'll find some people who understand the violin to judge who plays better. How about that?" James said softly.

"Sure, you play yours, I'll play mine, and we'll let everyone vote to decide the winner. Is that okay?" Vivienne, feeling very pleased upon hearing that James really couldn't play the violin, agreed to his suggestion without thinking.

"Okay," James nodded at Vivienne.

Seeing that James had really agreed to compete with Vivienne in violin, Lily's face showed a hint of helplessness. She quickly walked to James's side and whispered, "James, are you crazy? Vivienne is quite excellent at the violin. Competing with her is just asking for humiliation!"

"Yeah, James, you've already done great by beating Lyle today. Why agree to Vivienne's challenge?" Laura also said, confused.

"You've seen how unreasonable this woman is. If I don't agree, she won't let us go. I've already said I can't play the violin, so losing isn't a big deal. But if I get lucky and win, she'll have to accept it!" James replied calmly.

Laura and Lily both sighed helplessly upon hearing this. Lily had come here today just to catch up with old friends, but she hadn't expected so much trouble.

Lily didn't have high expectations about the outcome of the violin competition. She decided not to persuade James any further.

"Madeline, there are violins on the third floor of the art center, right?" Vivienne suddenly shouted.

"Yes," Madeline said reluctantly, not wanting to offend Vivienne.

"Hey, you, come with me to the third floor!" Vivienne said disdainfully, then walked towards the third floor.

James watched Vivienne's back, sighed helplessly, and followed her.
