Chapter 401 I Can Have Children for You
"Stop dreaming! I'd rather die than have a child with you!" Savannah shook her head furiously at James, her voice firm.
"Miss Edwards, do you really think you can still negotiate with me?"
James gave Savannah a faint smile and went on, "You've got two options. First, kill Matthew. Second, have a child with me. Otherwise, you're never leaving this place!"
"Why?" Savannah yelled at James, her face full of confusion and anger. "Why are you forcing me to have a child with you? What do these two things even have to do with each other?"
"It's simple. You're an Edwards. Even though you're Matthew's half-sister, you still have Edwards blood. I can't fully trust you. If you betray me one day, I might not even see it coming. So, you need to prove your loyalty to me!"
James explained calmly, then continued, "Either you take care of Matthew now, showing me where you stand because the Edwards family will definitely come after you once they find out, or you have a child with me. That way, I'll be the father of your child, and no matter how ruthless you are, you wouldn't easily harm me for the sake of the child. Plus, if the Edwards family knows you had a child with me, they wouldn't trust you anymore!"
Savannah looked at James in horror, and after a moment of silence, she said quietly, "You just want to cut off my ties with the Edwards family, right?"
"Exactly. Once you have a child with me, you'll have no choice but to stick with me, and I won't have to worry about you betraying me!" James said bluntly.
Hearing this, Savannah's face darkened, and she gritted her teeth, saying, "What if I choose neither?"
"If you don't choose, then don't blame me for being ruthless!"
A cold glint flashed in James's eyes.
Even though James didn't really want to kill Savannah, he had to say this to scare her.
Savannah stared at James with wide eyes. Her view of him had drastically changed from when she first saw him in Willowbrook. She used to think James was just a pathetic loser who got lucky with Willard's fortune.
But now she realized James was far from pathetic. He was meticulous and ruthless.
Both choices were a nightmare for Savannah.
Savannah initially thought she could play along with James, and once she got out of here, she could use her connection with him to feed him false info and help Matthew reclaim the inheritance.
But now, Savannah realized she was way too naive.
She had totally underestimated James.
"Miss Edwards, I know these choices are tough for you, so I'll give you five minutes to think it over. I'll be back in five."
With that, James got up and left the room, leaving Savannah sitting there, stunned.
Charles saw James coming out and quickly approached him, asking quietly, "Mr. Smith, how's it going with Savannah?"
"I gave her five minutes to decide. I think she'll agree to my demands."
James replied, his face expressionless.
"That's good!" Charles sighed in relief. If Savannah sided with James, it would be like having a mole in the Edwards family, making them way less of a threat.
Time crawled by, and the villa's living room was eerily quiet.
James sat on the sofa, staring blankly at the garden outside, mulling over his actions today.
The old James wouldn't have dared to pull something like this, even with a hundred times the courage!
But after dealing with Matthew, James had changed. He knew how brutal high society power struggles could be. Even if he didn't want to do this, he had to adapt.
Because if he didn't, he'd end up dead.
Five minutes flew by. Charles glanced at James and said softly, "Mr. Smith, time's up."
James took a deep breath, then got up and headed to the room where Savannah was.
Charles hesitated for a moment but decided not to follow, trusting James to handle it.
Savannah looked up sharply as the door opened and saw James walk in.
"Miss Edwards, time's up. Have you made your decision?" James asked calmly from the doorway.
Savannah hesitated for a moment, then looked up at James and said, "I'll be your woman and have a child for you."
James was stunned, his face showing shock.
He never expected things to go so smoothly. Savannah actually agreed to have a child for him, and so quickly!
