Chapter 427 Can You Take Me Home?
James couldn't help but chuckle when he saw Cecil agree to take the security guard job at the sales office.
He had a hunch it would go down like this.
Honestly, it was a pretty sweet deal.
Anyone in Cecil's shoes would make the same call.
With Cecil sorted out, James figured today's drama was finally over.
Originally, he just wanted to swing by the sales office to buy some houses and keep his promise to Pamela. But things sure took a wild turn.
James let out a small sigh and glanced over at Pamela.
She looked way more relaxed now. James had taken care of Cecil and Marc, those two creeps, so she didn't have to worry about their constant harassment anymore.
Marc, looking all nervous, finally spoke up, "Mr. Smith, what about me?"
If Marc hadn't piped up, James might've forgotten he was even there.
To James, Cecil was at least somewhat important, but Marc? He was just Cecil's nephew. Now that Cecil was dealt with, Marc was pretty much an afterthought.
After a moment's hesitation, James said to Marc, "Since you're also with Harmony Realty Group, I won't fire you. How about you stay on as a janitor? You'll be in charge of the men's restroom from now on."
Marc was floored, staring at James in shock.
"What? You don't want to?" James asked with a grin.
"No, no, I do!" Marc quickly nodded, not even thinking twice.
"Oh, and by the way, this job doesn't come with a salary as well," James added.
"I'll do it, even without a salary!" Marc nodded, looking like he wanted to kick himself. If he hadn't opened his mouth earlier, he wouldn't be in this mess.
Seeing Marc agree, James smiled, satisfied, and turned to Pamela. "Pamela, from today on, you're in charge of keeping an eye on these two. If they cause any trouble, call me."
"Okay, Mr. Smith!" Pamela was momentarily stunned but then nodded.
"And starting today, you're the general manager of Harmony Realty Group. You'll handle all the company's affairs, including personnel decisions. Keep whoever you like and fire whoever you don't!" James continued, looking at Pamela.
Pamela was completely taken aback, her expression one of utter shock.
The other employees in the sales office were also staring at James, wide-eyed.
They never saw it coming—James promoting Pamela straight to general manager. The highest position she'd held before was a deputy GM, and now she was the boss. It was a huge jump.
The employees who had crossed Pamela before were now looking pretty sour. They never thought she'd suddenly become the GM of Harmony Realty Group. It was mind-blowing!
"Mr. Smith, did I hear you right? You want me to be the general manager of Harmony Realty Group?" Pamela asked James, her eyes wide with disbelief.
"Yep, you heard me right. Who else would it be? I don't have time to manage the company's affairs!" James replied casually.
James owned a ton of companies. He didn't even bother with billion-dollar businesses, let alone a small real estate firm. He didn't know how to manage it, and he sure wouldn't waste his time on this one.
James bought this company just to give Pamela a leg up.
"But Mr. Smith, I don't know how to run a company!" Pamela said, a mix of excitement and worry in her voice.
Pamela wasn't trying to dodge responsibility; she genuinely didn't know how to manage a company and was scared of messing up and disappointing James.
"If you don't know how to manage, you can ask him!" James pointed to Emilio, the previous owner of the real estate company, and continued, "He's your deputy general manager now!"
"Miss Gray, if you have any questions, just ask me." Emilio quickly chimed in with a smile.
Pamela was completely floored, staring at James in a daze, struggling to wrap her head around it.
She never expected James to be so thorough, not only buying the company but also keeping Emilio on as the deputy GM!
"If there's nothing else, I'm heading out!" James glanced at Pamela and then started walking out of the sales office.
With Cecil and Marc dealt with, James had no reason to stick around, so he decided to leave.
Seeing James about to leave, Pamela quickly followed him, her high heels clicking on the floor.
"Mr. Smith, do you really want me to be the general manager of Harmony Realty Group?" Pamela asked, still puzzled.
"Absolutely!" James nodded, then opened his car door and asked, "Where are you headed? Need a ride?"
Pamela was caught off guard by his question, then softly said, "Mr. Smith, can you take me home?"
"No problem, hop in!" James nodded.
Pamela hesitated for a moment, then opened the passenger door and got into the car.
