Chapter 208 I Say You're Not Even as Good as a Delivery Guy

Ignoring the curious stares from the crowd, Sylvie confidently dragged James over to Victor without a second thought.

She looked Victor dead in the eye and said, "Victor, this is my boyfriend. So, back off and leave me alone, got it?"

Victor was taken aback for a moment. He glanced up at James, his face a mix of shock and disbelief.

He couldn't wrap his head around losing to someone like James!

No matter what, he thought he was way out of James's league.

Sure, James looked alright, but his clothes screamed "loser."

But Victor? He was different. His designer clothes and the Ferrari he drove made it clear he was the real deal.

In today's world, who would pick a broke guy over a rich, good-looking one?

It wasn't just Victor thinking this; the onlookers were just as confused.

Among everyone there, only James seemed a bit helpless.

He really didn't want to get mixed up in Sylvie's drama because he knew it would just cause more problems.

James already had enough on his plate. He just wanted to lay low, sort things out with Jennifer, and move forward with marrying Laura.

As for everything else, James couldn't care less.

"Are you really Sylvie's boyfriend?" Victor eyed James suspiciously and stepped closer, challenging him.

"No, I..." James started to explain, but before he could finish, he felt a sharp pain in his side and heard a yelp.

He quickly turned to see Sylvie's hand on his waist, her expression clearly warning him to keep his mouth shut or else.

"Yeah, I'm Sylvie's boyfriend," James reluctantly said to Victor.

"That's impossible!" Victor immediately shouted.

"And why's that?" Sylvie asked, frowning.

"Sylvie, I haven't known you long, but I get your type. Tons of rich guys in Lumina City fall for you, and you turn them all down. You have high standards, so there's no way you'd go for a loser like him!" Victor yelled, eyes wide.

Sylvie frowned even more at Victor's words.

She didn't expect Victor to catch on so quickly that she was just using James as a fake boyfriend.

"Yeah, how could Sylvie like a guy like him?"

"He looks like a total loser; he's not good enough for Sylvie!"

"He must be faking it!"

The crowd, already doubting James was really Sylvie's boyfriend, started jeering even louder after hearing Victor.

Evelyn let out a sigh of relief, a flicker of satisfaction in her eyes, and muttered to herself, "I knew it. No way a loser like James could be dating a TikTok star. He's just Sylvie's excuse to fend off suitors. Even regular girls wouldn't go for him, let alone Sylvie."

James's face darkened as he heard the crowd's jeers.

Sure, he might not stack up to Victor in some ways, but he wasn't as bad as they made him out to be.

In the past, James might've just shrugged it off and let it slide.

But now, as a super-rich kid with trillions, being dissed like this got under his skin.

"Sylvie, cut the act. This guy isn't your boyfriend. Look at him—he's worse than a delivery guy. How could you possibly like him?" Victor stepped closer, pressing on when Sylvie stayed silent.

"Victor, watch your mouth. Who are you calling worse than a delivery guy? Can you show some respect?" Sylvie snapped, her eyes flashing with anger.

"Him!" Victor pointed at James.

"Victor, you..." Sylvie started, but James had had enough. He stepped up beside Sylvie, his face blank, and said to Victor, "You said I'm worse than a delivery guy, right?"

James didn't want to get tangled up in Sylvie and Victor's drama, knowing it would just bring more trouble.

But Victor's constant jabs, along with being misunderstood by Laura and blackmailed by Jennifer for five million dollars, had pushed him to his limit.

So, he finally decided to stand up for himself.

Victor was caught off guard by James's sudden boldness.

"Yeah, I said so. Got a problem with that?" Victor sneered, trying to assert his dominance.

Victor's comment was meant to humiliate James. He figured that even if James had a decent background, he was just an ordinary guy.

As the eldest son of the Hudson Family in Lumina City, Victor thought dealing with someone like James would be a breeze.

"You seem to have a thing for delivery jobs, huh?" James said with a faint smile.

"What are you getting at?" Victor asked, confused.

"Nothing much. Since you like delivering so much, you can start doing it from today!" James replied calmly, pulling out his phone to call Charles.

In Lumina City, anyone with some clout knew Charles.

Charles was the king here, and his word could make or break a family. Even if Charles couldn't handle it, James had the connections to make it happen.

To James, the Hudson Family was like ants. Making them go bankrupt was just a matter of a phone call.
