Chapter 59 Stellar Lounge

"If you're treating us today, the three of us will go over. If not, then we won't go!" Tyler knew that Evelyn's sudden return was just to use them as cash cows for expenses. So, he was prepared to take this opportunity to teach Evelyn a lesson. When Evelyn heard Tyler's words, she froze instantly, feeling somewhat embarrassed.

"Tyler, you're going too far. We can't allow Evelyn, a girl, to treat us to drinks. Moreover, there's no reason for a girl to be the one treating others when we go out!" Paul felt that Evelyn agreeing to bring James over was already a great move. Therefore, Tyler demanding Evelyn to treat them was a bit too much.

"Girls can treat as well. You talk about gender equality all the time. Now that the opportunity has arisen. Every time we go out, it's us treating. Evelyn hasn't spent a dime. So I don't see any problems with letting her foot the bill this time," Tyler replied bluntly.

Due to Paul's influence, Tyler had treated Evelyn to meals before. After all, Tyler's family was decent. With Paul constantly pursuing Evelyn, Tyler felt it was only right to spend some money on his friend. Today, however, the fact that Evelyn humiliated James in front of so many people made Tyler extremely uncomfortable. Naturally, he wouldn't spare Evelyn.

"Tyler, you're stingy for a man," Evelyn shouted at Tyler with displeasure.

"I'm giving you a chance for gender equality. Since you want us to leave, you need to show some sincerity. You've said so many nasty things to James before, so making you pay is not a big deal. If you can't afford it, all you have to do is apologize to James. Then we'll forgive you!" Tyler seemed determined to settle the matter with Evelyn today, speaking in a firm tone.

Evelyn looked at Tyler with a sense of helplessness. She knew she couldn't bring herself to apologize to James but didn't have the money to treat them either. So she looked towards Paul as if seeking help.

"I'll foot the bill today as promised. What Evelyn did earlier was probably unintentional," James suddenly spoke up.

Evelyn looked at him in astonishment. She never expected James to speak up for her at this moment. In reality, James wanted to cut short the situation and join Paul for a drink before checking on Linda.

Tyler felt awkward and decided not to press Evelyn further. He walked towards the Stellar Lounge.

Paul, however, gave a grateful glance to James. James' decision not to further the confrontation with Evelyn was a significant favor to Paul. Continued conflict would have made Paul very uncomfortable.

A few minutes later, they arrived at the Stellar Lounge near the University of Lumina. The lounge was the largest bar near the university, recently opened and attractively decorated, making it a favorite spot among students.

As everyone entered the lounge, Evelyn suddenly halted. Turning to James when Paul and the others were distracted, she said, "James, when you see my roommates later, don't tell them you're a delivery guy. I don't want my roommates to know that I associate with someone like you, understand?"

At this moment, Evelyn seemed to have forgotten who had just helped her and spoke to James with a very unfriendly tone.

"I understand," James replied casually, not wanting to waste any more time with Evelyn.

"And you better not have any ideas about my roommates. They will never be interested in a poor loser. You better have a clear understanding of yourself!" Evelyn continued, looking at James critically.

James paused for a moment. Then, he stopped in his tracks and said coldly, "Evelyn, if it weren't for Paul, I wouldn't have come to this bar with you. Besides, I already have a fiancée, so I'm not interested in your roommate. You don't have to worry!"

"You have a fiancée? Are you bragging? No one would be interested in a delivery guy like you," Evelyn sneered.

Ignoring Evelyn, James walked straight into the bar. Since Lori and Tyler had already entered the bar earlier, they did not hear the conversation between James and Evelyn.

Inside the Stellar Lounge, under the dim lights, elegantly dressed young men and women moved their bodies frenetically on the dance floor, releasing the hormones of youth amidst the loud music.

At 7 o'clock in the evening, although still early, for those who enjoyed nightlife, this was the beginning of an exciting night. Today, the lounge was packed with mostly students from the University of Lumina.

As James entered the bar for the first time, he was struck by the scene inside. Evelyn couldn't help but sneer when she saw James looking like he had never been to a bar before. However, due to Lori and Tyler next to James, she refrained from saying more.

"Lori, we're here!" Just then, a heavily made-up and seductively dressed young woman waved at Evelyn and the others.

She wore a tight black T-shirt that showcased her perfect figure, her long legs pale and slim. Her blond wavy hair cascaded casually over her shoulders, exuding a youthful aura. Although her attire was seductive, her looks were average at best, not as appealing as Evelyn's.

Despite this, her figure was incredibly alluring, with long, shapely legs and a surprisingly ample chest that surpassed the typical size of a female university student.

"Lori, I'm coming over!" Evelyn turned her head and then said to Paul and the others, "That's my roommate Lori. Let's go over!"

"Alright." Paul quickly nodded. Evelyn then glanced at James and said, "James, when you see my roommate, don't talk nonsense. Don't reveal your true nature to her."

"Evelyn, mind your words!" Paul couldn't help but frown and reprimand her.

"I meant no harm. It’s you who wanted me to introduce James to a potential girlfriend," Evelyn explained dismissively before heading towards the reserved booth.
