Chapter 297 Giving You Three Options
Upon hearing James's words, Conrad's face immediately flashed with a hint of anger. He responded to James in a cold tone, "Young man, it's better not to speak so absolutely. Some things aren't up to you to decide!"
"My legs are my own. Who can stop me if I want to leave?"
James looked at Conrad expressionlessly. Although he couldn't reveal his identity yet, James's personality was gradually changing.
A month ago, James might not have said such things.
But now, James understood one thing.
The more you show weakness to some people, the more they will take advantage of you.
And Conrad was such a person. Since Conrad looked down on him, James decided to respond with a strong attitude.

"I don't deny that I'm ambitious because I have the right to be. But you have no right to tell me to leave Laura!" James turned to Conrad and said sharply.
"I have no right?" Conrad couldn't help but sneer, then angrily said to James, "Then tell me, what gives you the right to be so arrogant? Do you have a powerful background or a wealthy family? Do you think just being one of Charles's aquaintances makes you so bold?"
It was clear that Conrad's body was trembling slightly as he spoke, and his eyes showed a hint of inexplicable disappointment.
He thought James might not understand his good intentions behind his words.
Conrad never intended to separate James and Laura. In their brief interaction, Conrad found James to be a decent person, just a bit poor.
If James stayed with Laura, it would save a lot of trouble in the future.
After all, Conrad knew Laura had many suitors.
So Conrad deliberately called James here to say those well-intentioned words.
He thought if James wasn't sincere about Laura, he would break up with her after hearing his words.
But if James was sincere, Conrad planned to keep James by his side and groom him.

"And he has a good relationship with the mayor of Lumina City and knows Terry!"
"His connections span both the legal and illegal sides of Lumina City. How do you plan to fight someone like him? Do you think Charles will plead for you? Is that realistic?"
Conrad shouted at James, his tone very agitated.
James could only smile wryly after hearing this.
Because Conrad had no idea that all the three he had mentioned were just employees under James!
They would respectfully call James "Mr. Smith" when they saw him!
"Why aren't you saying anything? Do you realize how naive your thoughts are?" Conrad asked James.
James didn't respond.
"I'll give you three options. First, leave my granddaughter immediately. I'll give you a large sum of money and help you settle things with the Hays Family!"
"What's the second option?" James asked directly without considering.
"The second option is to wait for death. If you don't agree to my terms and the Hays Family comes after you, I won't help you!" Conrad said to James.
"And the third?" James asked again.
Conrad took a deep breath and continued, "The third option is that I can help you settle things with the Hays Family and allow you to stay with my granddaughter. But you must stay by my side until I believe you can take care of her for a lifetime."
After hearing this, James finally understood.
In short, Conrad still looked down on James and wanted to train him.
If an ordinary person encountered such an opportunity, they would be grateful and agree without hesitation. But James was different!
In his eyes, neither the Hall Family nor the Hays Family were significant. He had no interest in wasting time with Conrad. Even if he gained Conrad's support, what would it matter?

"I said I don't want to choose any of your options!" James repeated simply and turned to leave.
"James, are you crazy?" At that moment, Laura ran out of the house, her bright eyes staring at James.
"Laura? What are you doing here?" James asked, puzzled.
