Chapter 331 Apologize to My Girlfriend!
Seeing Herbert leave, everyone began to discuss James's identity.
Efrain also realized something was off because he felt that Herbert, as the manager of The Golden Elm Bistro and a trusted aide of Atticus, wouldn't be so polite even to someone as wealthy as himself. Yet, he was so deferential to James.
This indicated that James's identity was far more complex than he had imagined!
"Could Vivienne have lied to me?" Efrain couldn't help but mutter to himself.
"If you apologize to my girlfriend now, I might spare your life!" James walked up to Efrain and said coldly.
James's meaning was clear: if Efrain had apologized earlier, James might not have acted against him. But now, whether Efrain apologized or not, James would still act, though an apology might make him go a bit easier.
At that moment, the entire private room fell silent.
The coldness in James's tone sent a shiver down everyone's spine.
Laura, Nancy, and Lily looked at James in shock, as if they didn't recognize him anymore.
A flash of fear crossed Efrain's eyes as he looked at James. He felt that James must have some backing to dare say such things.
But with so many people watching, Efrain certainly wouldn't apologize to Laura in front of them.
If he apologized today, how could he continue to live in Willowbrook?
"I didn't do anything! Why should I apologize to her?" Efrain shouted at James, his voice lacking confidence.
"Why?" James sneered and walked directly towards Efrain, not wanting to waste any more words.
At this moment, James had only one thought: if Efrain didn't want to apologize, he would beat him until he did.
Sometimes, James found that force worked better than money.
Seeing James approach menacingly, Efrain quickly stepped back, shouting in fear, "What are you doing?"
This time, James didn't waste words. He raised his fist and punched Efrain hard in the stomach.
Although James hadn't specifically trained in combat, he had exercised with his father since childhood, making his physical condition far superior to the average person.
Moreover, as an adult, James had always done physical labor. Though he appeared thin and weak, his physical strength was far beyond that of a playboy like Efrain.
With that punch, Efrain doubled over like a shrimp.
A searing pain instantly overwhelmed Efrain's mind.
Unable to hold back, Efrain spat out a mouthful of blood.
Seeing this, everyone gasped, trembling with fear.
How strong was that punch to make Efrain spit blood?
"James, you—!" Efrain opened his mouth to speak.
But James didn't give him a chance, swinging his fist hard at Efrain's head.
Efrain suddenly felt his vision go black, a buzzing sound in his ears, and he staggered back, almost falling.
Efrain looked extremely disheveled, blood trickling from his nose, swaying like a drunk.
James struck again, kicking Efrain's knee.
Efrain's knee buckled, and he fell to the ground.
At that moment, Efrain was kneeling in the direction where Laura and the others stood.
Laura and the other girls instinctively stepped back, eyes wide in disbelief at Efrain on the ground.
Efrain was completely dazed by James's beating.
James stepped on Efrain's shoulder and shouted expressionlessly, "Apologize to my girlfriend!"
Efrain trembled at James's words.
He was truly scared of James now because he knew that if he didn't apologize, James might do anything.
If he got seriously injured, it wouldn't be worth it.
Kneeling on the ground, Efrain hesitated for two seconds, then gritted his teeth and shouted at Laura, "I'm sorry."
"Louder! Weren't you arrogant just now?" James demanded expressionlessly.
"Miss Hall, I'm sorry. I was wrong to hit you!" Efrain shouted sincerely.
Seeing this, the rich kids in the room sighed.
No one expected Efrain to actually apologize to Laura, and on his knees!
Laura, worried that James might escalate things, quickly spoke, "James, let him go!"
James glanced at Efrain, then kicked him away, saying coldly, "I know you're not convinced. If you want revenge, I'm always ready. But if you dare touch my girlfriend, I'll make sure the Mae family pays dearly!"
Efrain glared at James and gritted his teeth. "Fine, kid, you're tough. Just wait, I'll call someone over now!"
"Go ahead!" James replied disdainfully.
"Just you wait!" Efrain shouted, then ran to the door, took out his phone, and made a call.
"Vivienne, I got beaten up by Laura and James. Hurry and bring people over!" Efrain shouted excitedly into the phone.
"Okay, I'm coming now!" Vivienne replied quickly and hung up.
Efrain stood at the door, glaring angrily at James and Laura.
He had no intention of leaving; he wanted to regain his lost face.
Nancy ran excitedly to James's side and said, "James, you were so cool today!"
"Nancy, stop stirring things up!" Laura scolded softly, then looked at James and said, "James, you were too impulsive just now. Efrain is..."
"Laura, is your face okay?" Before Laura could finish, James asked gently.
"I'm fine!" Laura was touched by James's concern, and the words of reproach she had intended to say were swallowed back.
