Chapter 191 The Beautiful Sylvie Evergreen
After James left the factory, Yancy quickly followed him. "James, need a ride home?" he asked respectfully.
"No thanks, I need some alone time," James replied coolly.
"Got it," Yancy nodded and walked away.
James wandered the streets, staring at the neon-lit skyscrapers, feeling oddly empty inside. Maybe it was because he finally revealed his true identity to Jennifer, lifting a huge weight off his chest.
After taking his revenge on Jennifer and Michael, James felt no sense of satisfaction. Instead, he was left with a profound sense of futility.
He knew deep down that all of this—crushing Jennifer and Michael beneath his heel—wasn't the result of his own hard work. It was because he had inexplicably inherited a fortune. The power and control he wielded came not from his own efforts but from this unearned legacy. The realization left him feeling hollow and resigned.
Taking a deep breath, James headed home. Suddenly, a car horn blared behind him. He turned to see a Maserati pull up. The window rolled down, and a beautiful woman leaned out, waving. "Get in, come home with me!" she shouted.
James frowned, confused. "Do I know you?"
"Nope," she replied coolly.
"Then why do you want me to go home with you?" he asked, even more puzzled.
"I had a few drinks at the bar and don't want to get stopped by the cops. I need you to drive me home. I'll pay you," she said softly.
James hesitated. "You should call a designated driver. I'm heading home too."
"It's late, where am I supposed to find one? My place is just a few miles away. I'll give you 500 bucks," she said, her face flushed from the alcohol, looking particularly enchanting under the lights.
James hesitated for a moment, feeling a pang of unease. If he let her drive off on her own and something went wrong, he knew he'd feel guilty. With that thought in mind, he strode over to the Maserati.
As he approached, the woman scrambled out of the car, hastily opening the door.
Now that he had a closer look, James took in her appearance. She wore heavy makeup and was dressed provocatively—a low-cut T-shirt paired with ultra-short denim shorts.
Her attractive appearance and alluring outfit made her look like a modern-day siren, exuding endless allure without being overly seductive. The slight blush on her face from the alcohol made her even more tempting.
"What are you standing there for? Get in the car," she said softly.
"Okay," James said quickly and got in the car.
"Just drive straight, then turn right and go for another mile," she instructed, crossing her legs seductively.
James didn't respond, too captivated by her beauty.
"Hey, why are you staring at me? Planning something bad?" She pouted.
"No," James replied awkwardly and started the car.
"What's your name? You look familiar," she asked, puzzled.
"James," he replied indifferently.
"Never heard of it." She shrugged.
"What's your name?" James hesitated.
"Sylvie Evergreen," she answered.
James's eyes widened. "Are you the Sylvie from the University of Lumina?"
"Yeah, do you know me?" she replied indifferently.
"So it really is you!" James exclaimed, shocked.
"I didn't know I was so famous!" Sylvie pouted.
When James first arrived at the University of Lumina, he had heard about Sylvie from the very start.
She was reputed to be the campus queen, holding the top spot in the university's social hierarchy. On top of that, Sylvie was a social media sensation, boasting over five million followers on short video platforms.
"I'm a junior at Lumina. I've heard about you. They say you're an internet celebrity!" James smiled.
"That's what my fans call me," Sylvie explained.
James glanced at her long, beautiful legs, thinking, 'She's really stunning!'
"So don't get any ideas about me, got it?" Sylvie said softly.
"Someone like you wouldn't be interested in an ordinary guy like me. I just think your legs are pretty," James said expressionlessly.
"Do you want to touch them?" she asked flirtatiously.
James was stunned.
"Well? Do you want to?" Sylvie leaned closer.
"Yes!" James nodded honestly.
"Then work hard. When you're rich, you can have fun with beauties like me however you like!" Sylvie said boldly.
James could only manage a wry smile. He had hoped for something more, like a chance to touch her leg, but that was clearly not on the table.
Soon enough, James dropped Sylvie off at her apartment complex. As she was about to hand him 500 bucks, James declined the money, opting instead to add her on Facebook.
Sylvie hesitated for a moment but eventually agreed, though she warned James not to get any funny ideas.
After adding her on Facebook, James took a cab home. Exhausted, he went straight to bed.
