Chapter 396 Help me get James out

After letting it all out, James headed straight for the elevator.

In no time, he was back at the apartment he shared with Linda.

The place was pitch dark, a clear sign no one was home.

James didn't bother looking for Linda next door; he just went straight to his room.

When he walked in, he noticed everything was super tidy and clean, like someone had been there.

"Did someone come into my room?" He muttered to himself, puzzled, but shrugged it off and flopped onto the bed.

James was beat and just wanted to crash.

Before long, he was out like a light.

Meanwhile, over on the pedestrian street.

Evelyn was trailing behind Sharon, her arms loaded with branded bags and a big smile on her face.

Evelyn's family wasn't well-off, but the bags she was holding were worth nearly $100,000. Obviously, she didn't buy them herself; they were all gifts from Sharon.

Sharon, the front desk manager at Golden Peak Group, made at least $70,000 to $80,000 a month, and with bonuses, her monthly salary was nearly $100,000. These bags were basically her whole month's pay.

But Sharon didn't seem bothered at all. She had her reasons for splurging on Evelyn.

"Sharon, why are you being so nice to me today? You bought me so many branded bags!"

Evelyn wasn't naive. Even though Sharon was her cousin, they weren't that close. Usually, Sharon might buy her one or two things, but today she went all out with nearly $100,000 worth of bags. It was weird.

"You're my cousin. Isn't it normal for me to buy you a few bags?" Sharon said casually.

"But you bought me so many today..." Evelyn said softly.

"Are you saying I usually don't buy you enough?" Sharon asked with a half-smile.

"No, no!" Evelyn quickly shook her head and nervously explained, "Sharon, I'm not complaining. It's just that you bought me so many things today!"

"Do you like the bags?" Sharon asked softly.

"Of course I do, but they're so expensive. Normally, I'd have to save up forever to buy just one, but today you got them all at once. It's kinda unbelievable," Evelyn said.

Sharon glanced at Evelyn and then said, "Since you've noticed, I won't beat around the bush. The reason I bought you so many bags is that I need your help with something."

"Sharon, just tell me what you need!" Evelyn finally breathed a sigh of relief and said excitedly.

"How's your relationship with Mr. Smith... no, I mean James?" Sharon hesitated and then asked softly.

"My relationship with James?"

Evelyn was stunned, her face showing a hint of confusion. She pouted and asked, "Sharon, why are you suddenly asking about James?"

"I just want to know if you're close to him."

Sharon didn't answer Evelyn's question.

"It's alright, I guess. Didn't I tell you before? Paul has been chasing after me, but I'm not into him. I just keep him around as a backup. James is Paul's roommate, so I've bumped into him a few times," Evelyn thought for a moment and answered.

Sharon nodded thoughtfully.

"Sharon, why are you asking about James?" Evelyn asked, clearly puzzled.

Sharon looked at Evelyn, hesitated for a couple of seconds, and then said softly, "I don't have any hidden motives. I just need you to help me get James to come out."

"Help you get him to come out?" Evelyn was shocked and widened her eyes.

"James is just a broke delivery guy. Why do you want to meet him?" Evelyn asked, still confused.

"I know James is just a poor delivery guy, which is why I want to get him to come out and show his true colors."

Sharon didn't want to reveal James's true identity to Evelyn, and she didn't dare to ask James out herself since James was her boss. So, she decided to have Evelyn ask James out to create an opportunity for her to be alone with him.

"What do you mean by exposing his true colors?" Evelyn asked, still confused.

"You know my best friend Tina, right?" Sharon found an excuse.

"Of course, I do. Didn't we have dinner with Tina last time?" Evelyn nodded.

"James has been chasing Tina recently, pretending to be some rich guy. I'm worried Tina will fall for his act, so I plan to get James to come out and then pretend to seduce him to expose his true colors. I'll record it and show it to Tina so she knows what kind of person James really is and won't be fooled."

"So that's it. Sharon, you want to embarrass James, right?" Evelyn suddenly understood and exclaimed.

"Exactly. Tina is my best friend, and I can't just watch her get tricked by James. I have to show her who he really is."

Sharon didn't expect Evelyn to believe her so quickly, so she went along with it.

"Since you said so, I'll definitely help you. I'll call James right now!"

Evelyn didn't hesitate and took out her phone, ready to ask Paul for James's contact info. To her, nothing was more important than embarrassing James.

Seeing Evelyn about to make the call, Sharon quickly stopped her. She wasn't ready yet, and if Evelyn called James now, her plan would be ruined.

Sharon's plan was simple. She wanted Evelyn to ask James out, then she would show up and take James to a bar and get a private room.

Once they were alone, Sharon would spike James's drink, and under the influence, James would sleep with her. Sharon hoped to get pregnant with James's child, bringing her closer to marrying into a wealthy family.

But Sharon hadn't booked a room or prepared the drug yet. Even if James came out now, he wouldn't sleep with her.

"Ronald, it's already so late. Let's do it another day when we have more time." Sharon quickly stopped Evelyn.

Evelyn looked at her phone and smiled, "Yeah, it's almost eleven. I'll ask James out another day."

"Okay." Sharon nodded quickly, her eyes showing a hint of excitement.
