Chapter 246 Heading to Willowbrook

Laura's hometown was Willowbrook, which was just a hop, skip, and a jump from Lumina City—like, a two-hour drive tops.

Sure, Willowbrook might not be a big name, but folks in Lumina City knew it well. A bunch of big-shot entrepreneurs in Lumina City hailed from there.

These folks often headed back to Willowbrook to retire, and Laura's grandpa was one of them.

So, Willowbrook had got it going on. Even though it was a small village, the place was decked out with top-notch infrastructure. It was more like a fancy suburb of Lumina City, with luxury cars and mansions all over the place!

Once school vacation kicked off, James snagged a ticket to Willowbrook, packed his stuff, and hit the road solo.

But before he set off, James made sure to change into some new clothes he bought earlier. This outfit was a major upgrade from his usual getup; he actually looked like a regular guy now, not some down-and-out loser.

James didn't want the Hall Family to know who he really was, but he knew he had to play the part of Laura's fiancé. Even if he couldn't spill the beans about his true identity, he couldn't make Laura look bad, right?

On the bus to Willowbrook, James couldn't stop checking out the scenery outside the window.

Every time he thought about seeing Laura soon, his emotions got all tangled up.

Two hours flew by.

Knowing he was almost in Willowbrook, James pulled out his phone and called Laura.

"James, you in Willowbrook yet?" Laura answered quickly, her voice all smiles.

"Yeah, I should be there in like ten minutes," James replied, trying to sound chill.

"Awesome! I'll come get you. Did you take the train or the bus?" Laura asked sweetly.

"Bus," James said.

"Got it!" Laura said, then hung up.

After Laura hung up, James felt a rush of excitement and went back to gazing out the window.

Meanwhile, over at the Willowbrook station.

A white BMW rolled up, and three super stylish, sexy women stepped out.

The moment these three showed up, they turned heads left and right.

Leading the pack was none other than James's fiancée, Laura.

Laura was rocking a cool look today—a white camisole showing off her sexy, fair neck. She had on a tight short skirt that hugged her curves, and her long, fair legs were in high-heeled sandals, making her look drop-dead gorgeous.

The girl behind Laura was a bit younger, wearing a light blue shirt that made her look fresh and pretty. She had on a short skirt that barely covered her hips, showing off her long, fair legs, looking super hot.

The younger girl was Elowen Hart.

The other sexy woman, about Laura's age, was Thalassa Quinn.

They were all Laura's cousins.

Laura's grandpa had four sons and four daughters, so the Hall Family had a ton of descendants.

So far, James only knew Laura and Nancy. He hadn't met Elowen and Thalassa yet.

Elowen and Thalassa weren't at the station because they were tight with Laura. Actually, Thalassa always saw Laura as her rival.

Laura was prettier and more talented than Thalassa. Plus, their grandpa always doted on Laura, which made Thalassa even more jealous.

So, Thalassa loved to compete with Laura in everything.

Laura ran a cosmetics company, and now Thalassa was in the cosmetics game too, but her company was way smaller than Laura's.

Recently, Thalassa was secretly thrilled when she heard Laura's company was about to go under. But then, out of nowhere, Laura found a new investor—Golden Peak Investment Company from Lumina City.

This really got under Thalassa's skin. She heard Laura got the new investor thanks to her fiancé.

Now that Laura's fiancé was coming, Thalassa just had to see what kind of guy he was.

Elowen was just there for the drama.

"Laura, Thalassa!" A Mercedes-Benz pulled up next to them, and three guys and a girl got out.

"Dorian, what are you doing here?" Laura frowned when she saw the guy leading the group.

"Laura, come on! My brother-in-law's coming, so of course, I gotta check him out!" Dorian grinned.

Laura shot Dorian a cold look but didn't say much. She knew he wasn't there for anything good.

Growing up, Laura got along with most of the Hall Family, except for Dorian, who always had it out for her.

"It's so hot today. I'm already sweating just standing here. If we keep waiting, I'm gonna get heatstroke!" Thalassa complained.

"I told you not to come, but you insisted!" Laura snapped back, not hiding her annoyance.

"Call your fiancé already. We've been waiting forever, and he's still not here. My makeup costs a fortune. If it gets ruined, can he afford to pay for it?" Thalassa pouted.

"Yeah, Laura, ask your fiancé when he'll be here. If it takes much longer, we should wait in the car!" Elowen chimed in, backing Thalassa up.

Laura didn't want to hear them nagging, so she pulled out her phone to call James.

But just then, a white bus slowly pulled in.
