Chapter 323 Laura's Late-Night Visit
Hearing James's confession, Laura was completely stunned.
If Laura said she had no feelings for James at all, that would definitely be a lie.
Because as Laura spent more time with James, she found that apart from being a bit poor, James didn't seem to have any other flaws.
But being poor was not a problem in Laura's eyes. She believed that as long as James was willing to work hard, he could at least be much better off than the average person, even if he didn't become a wealthy tycoon.
After all, the connections James had now were not something ordinary people could compare to. As long as James casually mentioned something to Charles, Charles could find him a job that ordinary people wouldn't even dare to dream of.
However, even though Laura had a slight affection for James, she was still a bit unprepared for his sudden confession and didn't know how to respond.
Seeing that Laura didn't say anything, James continued, "Laura, I genuinely like you. I know you might think I'm not capable now, but I will definitely work hard in the future. Can you give me a chance?"
"I..." Laura took a deep breath and then said softly, "James, I really don't know how to answer you right now. I know you genuinely like me, but can you give me some time to think about it?"
"Okay!" James was relieved that Laura didn't directly reject him, which meant there was still a chance. So he decided to give Laura some time to consider.
"Thank you, James. It's getting late, so I'll head back now," Laura blushed and replied softly.
"If you make up your mind, please let me know right away!" James hurriedly called out as he saw Laura leaving.
"Don't worry, I will let you know!"
Laura nodded gently and then turned to leave James's room.
After Laura left, James lay on his bed and started to smile foolishly because he believed Laura would not reject him!
From Laura's reaction just now, James could tell that he definitely had a chance.
Once he won over Laura, James could rightfully inherit the ten trillion dollar fortune, and at that time, he wouldn't need to hide his identity anymore.
At that moment, James's phone suddenly vibrated.
James picked up his phone and saw that it was a message from Sylvie on Facebook.
James always had a strange feeling about Sylvie because he didn't know what she really wanted.
After hesitating for a moment, James opened his phone and checked the message on Facebook.
Then he saw that Sylvie had sent him a selfie in a traditional dress, along with a message.
[It's my first day on set. How do I look? Isn't my dress beautiful?]
James smiled as he looked at the photo. He had to admit that Sylvie was quite charming, with a good figure and appearance. She looked even more beautiful in the traditional costume than some famous actresses.
However, James didn't reply to Sylvie because he thought it was better to stay away from such girls, and he had more important things to do now.
He wanted to find out who had leaked the information today!
If it weren't for James's quick reaction today, Laura might have already discovered his true identity. If she did, all of James's efforts would be in vain.
James would not only lose the right to inherit the fortune but also be seen as a fraud by Laura!
When Lucian and Wilford first arrived, James thought it was just a coincidence. After all, they had met at the Fairy Lake Resort before, so it was normal for them to recognize James.
But later, so many company CEOs came, many of whom James didn't even know. He felt that this couldn't be a coincidence; someone must have exposed his identity.
But there weren't many people who knew it. Atticus was one, Charles was another, and even if the remaining people knew James's identity, they didn't know he was in Willowbrook!
The more James thought about it, the more he felt something was wrong. He took out his phone and called Atticus.
He now believed that Atticus was the most likely person to have revealed his location. Charles wouldn't be that foolish.
The phone rang twice before Atticus answered, speaking in an unusually respectful tone, "Mr. Smith, what can I do for you?"
"Atticus, did you tell anyone about me being in Willowbrook?" James asked coldly.
"Mr. Smith, I wouldn't dare expose your whereabouts! Didn't you tell me to keep a low profile and not reveal your identity? How could I possibly tell anyone?" Atticus quickly replied.
"Are you sure?" James asked, stunned.
Atticus quickly said, "Mr. Smith, rest assured, I will definitely do as you instructed. How could I possibly tell anyone about you?"
Hearing this, a trace of doubt flashed across James's face because he felt that someone like Atticus wouldn't have the guts to do such a thing.
After hesitating for a moment, he said, "Alright, I'll investigate further."
"Okay, Mr. Smith. If you need anything, just call me!" Atticus replied with a smile.
"Okay." James nodded and then hung up the phone.
After hanging up, James called Charles, Wilford, and Lucian, trying to find out who had leaked the information, but he couldn't get any answers.
This made James even more puzzled. If it wasn't them, who else could have leaked the information?
As James was pondering this, there was a knock on the door.
"James, are you asleep?" Laura's soft voice came through.
"Not yet," James replied and quickly hid his phone.
"Can I come in now?" Laura continued to ask.
"Of course!" James said as he walked to the door and opened it.
But when James opened the door, he was stunned, his face showing an expression of shock.
Because Laura was standing at his door with a black lace nightgown, holding a pillow and blanket.
"Laura, what are you doing?" James asked in confusion.
"Can I sleep with you tonight?"
