Chapter 179 The Unknown Identity
After hanging up, James quickly glanced at Janet.
Seeing Janet ignore his question, Yancy asked again, "Miss Carter, what brings you here?"
Janet ignored him and walked towards James in her high heels.
Yancy felt a pang of despair and furrowed his brows when Janet treated him coldly.
Janet reached James and softly asked, "James, are you okay?"
"Miss Carter, I'm fine..." James hesitated and replied quietly.
"You're bleeding and you say you're fine?!" Janet rolled her eyes, pulled out a silk scarf, and gently wiped his face.
Jennifer and Michael were puzzled, not understanding why Janet was so kind to James or why Yancy seemed scared of her.
James, smelling Janet's faint fragrance, also wondered why Yancy feared her. 'Does Janet have a hidden identity like me?' he thought.
As Janet wiped the blood from James' face, Yancy's expression darkened, and cold sweat began to bead on his forehead.
Yancy didn't know Janet's exact background but knew she was mysterious. In all the years Yancy had been with Terry, he had never seen Terry show such reverence to anyone, not even to Charles.
Later, Yancy heard that Janet had become a counselor at the University of Lumina and kept a low profile. No one knew her true identity.
Yancy once asked Terry about Janet, and Terry warned him never to provoke her or face a gruesome end. Yancy had never seen Terry so afraid of anyone else, so he remembered Janet.
Years passed, and Yancy didn't expect to meet Janet again, especially like this!
"Get over here!" Janet shouted at Yancy after wiping James's face.
Yancy hesitated for two seconds, then walked up to Janet fearfully. "Miss Carter, I didn't know you knew James. If I had known, I wouldn't have dared..."
Janet cut him off. "Did you bully James just now?"
"Miss Carter, he hit my brother first, so I..."
"I asked, did you bully James just now?" Janet repeated impatiently.
"He hit me first!" Yancy said through gritted teeth, looking desperate.
"James is the most honest student in my class; he wouldn't hit you! I only saw your guys bullying him!" Janet said calmly, then turned to James. "James, come here!"
"Miss Carter, what's up?" James asked.
"Hit him!" Janet pointed at Yancy.
Yancy was stunned by Janet's words, his face a picture of utter despair, his mind reeling with frustration. He was completely taken aback.
The patrons inside the bar stared in disbelief, their expressions a mix of shock and horror. They never expected that the sultry, glamorous woman before them could be so domineering and unreasonable.
James was also dumbfounded. He had planned to call Terry to clear things up, but Janet stole the spotlight.
Cynthia widened her eyes at Janet. She only knew Janet because her sister studied at the University of Lumina and was in Janet's class. They became friends after a few interactions. To Cynthia, Janet seemed ordinary, just a bit domineering. But she never expected Janet to have such a terrifying background that even Yancy feared her.
"James, what are you standing there for? Hit him!" Janet's cold voice rang out again.
James didn't hesitate and walked straight towards Yancy.
Yancy's lackeys immediately stood in front of him.
"What do you mean by this?" Janet frowned and asked Yancy.
Yancy hesitated, then gritted his teeth and yelled, "All of you, get out of the way!"
Everyone was shocked. Who would have thought Yancy would be so afraid of Janet?
"I said, get out of the way!" Yancy shouted again when his lackeys didn't move.
They immediately stepped aside.
James walked up and slapped Yancy hard across the face. The sound echoed, and Yancy staggered back, blood trickling from his mouth.
Yancy felt extremely aggrieved but could only grit his teeth and stand there. He couldn't afford to offend a woman even Terry feared.
"Keep going!" Janet said calmly, squinting her alluring eyes.
James didn't hesitate and slapped Yancy hard again.
The bar patrons were stunned, their eyes filled with deep shock. They couldn't fathom why Yancy was so terrified of Janet that he didn't even dare to lift a finger in defense despite the blows.
James took the opportunity to vent his anger, slapping Yancy's face repeatedly with both hands.
