Chapter 319 Go Apologize to Mr. Smith
Seeing this scene, Conrad was filled with mixed emotions.
It was only now that he realized that James was the truly humble one.
"Irvin, what are you standing there for? Hurry up and apologize to Mr. Smith!" Elmer shouted at Irvin, eyes wide open.
Irvin couldn't help but frown at these words, then walked up to James and said respectfully, "Mr. Smith, I was too reckless before and offended you. Please forgive me!"
James glanced at Irvin indifferently and said calmly, "This time, for your father's sake, I won't hold it against you. I hope you'll be more careful in the future!"
"Thank you, Mr. Smith, thank you!" Irvin quickly nodded and bowed in response.
Everyone who saw this scene was filled with mixed feelings.
No one had expected that Irvin, who was always so arrogant in Willowbrook, would have a moment of bowing to someone.
Rufus's expression seemed even more unpleasant after seeing Irvin apologize to James, because he knew Irvin very well. He couldn't understand what kind of background James had that could make Irvin apologize to him.
"Mr. Smith, if there's nothing else, we'll take our leave now!" Elmer said to James with a smile.
"Alright!" James nodded slightly, eager for Elmer to take Irvin and leave quickly.
Elmer had just turned to leave when Nancy pouted and said, "By the way, I remember there's someone else who should apologize to James, right?"
Everyone looked at Nancy with puzzled expressions after hearing this.
"Nancy, what do you mean by that?" Jerald turned to Nancy and asked in a puzzled tone.
After all, Irvin had already apologized to James, and Nancy was saying that someone else needed to apologize to James, which confused everyone.
Among the people present, it seemed that only Irvin had offended James, right?
"At this point, is someone still trying to play dumb?" Nancy said as she turned to Rufus.
Rufus also noticed Nancy's gaze and showed a puzzled expression because he didn't know what Nancy meant.
"Nancy, what are you talking about? Can't you be a bit clearer?" Lily asked Nancy with a very puzzled expression.
"Yeah, Nancy, what are you talking about?" Laura also shouted.
"Alright then, since that person is so shameless, I'll give him a little reminder!" Nancy smiled faintly, then walked up to Rufus and said expressionlessly, "Rufus, I remember you falsely accused James before, saying that Lucian was an actor hired by James, right?"
"What do you mean by that?" Rufus asked Nancy with an unpleasant expression.
"You know exactly what I mean. If it weren't for your false accusations against James, how could we have misunderstood him? Don't you think you owe James an apology?" Nancy shouted at Rufus with her big, watery eyes.
"When did I falsely accuse James? I was just expressing my doubts!" Rufus replied with a cold smile.
"You—!" Nancy's face showed a trace of anger. She thought Rufus was too shameless.
Although Rufus hadn't explicitly said that Lucian was an actor hired by James, he had been stirring up trouble from the beginning. He just hadn't said those words directly.
Rufus sneered at Nancy and continued, "Since you say I falsely accused James, can you provide evidence to prove it? Can anyone here prove that I falsely accused him? If you can find one person or one piece of evidence, I'll apologize to James immediately. How about that?"
"You're so shameless. Everyone clearly saw you leading the false accusations against James, and now you won't admit it. Are you even a man?" Nancy's eyes were red with anger as she shouted at Rufus, her expression extremely furious.
Rufus sneered disdainfully, then turned to the people in the restaurant with a playful expression and said, "Can anyone here prove that I falsely accused James?"
Everyone present was stunned by Rufus's words, and no one dared to speak up.
After all, the person in conflict with Rufus at this moment was not James, but Nancy.
If the conflict had been with James, these people would definitely have sided with James, but since it was Nancy, the situation was different.
"Nancy, see? I told you. Since no one can prove it, I'll be leaving now!" Rufus sneered at Nancy, stood up, and prepared to leave.
Nancy glared at Rufus, her expression extremely angry but also helpless, as she didn't know how to deal with someone like Rufus.
"James, what are you standing there for? This guy was the one leading the false accusations against you. If you demand an apology from him, he wouldn't dare refuse!" Nancy turned to James, her expression extremely agitated as she shouted.
James hesitated for a moment after hearing Nancy's words, then said indifferently, "Forget it, there's no need to bother with someone like him."
Nancy looked at James in disbelief, her expression extremely shocked.
She couldn't believe that James would be so spineless. Even people like Irvin and Elmer were afraid of James, but now James didn't dare to confront Rufus!
If it weren't for Rufus stirring up trouble, how could James have been driven away by Conrad?
James's thoughts were simple: it was better to avoid unnecessary trouble.
After all, he had already achieved his goal today. The Hall Family members were more or less wary of him now. He didn't see the need to escalate the situation further, risking exposing his identity, which would be too costly.
Rufus couldn't help but sneer after hearing James's words, then muttered, "A loser is a loser. What right does he have to demand an apology from me?"
Although Rufus didn't say this loudly, everyone present heard it.
In an instant, the entire restaurant fell into a dead silence, and everyone was stunned.
Many people had used the term "loser" to describe James today, but after what had just happened, no one dared to call James a loser anymore.
Rufus, however, didn't seem to realize the impact of his words and turned to leave the restaurant.
Before Rufus could leave the restaurant hall, Floyd suddenly shouted coldly, "Stop right there!"
Hearing Floyd's voice, Rufus quickly stopped and turned to Floyd, smiling as he said, "Floyd, are you leaving with me?"
Floyd didn't answer Rufus's question but instead walked quickly to Rufus with the help of his cane.
Seeing Floyd's expression, Rufus sensed something was wrong and quickly asked in a low voice, "Floyd, what are you..."
"Go apologize to Mr. Smith!" Floyd shouted at Rufus expressionlessly.
The once arrogant Rufus was now clearly dumbfounded, looking at Conrad in disbelief, his expression extremely shocked.
"Floyd, what are you saying? You want me to apologize to that loser..."
Before Rufus could finish his sentence, Floyd slapped him across the face and shouted, "I told you to go apologize to Mr. Smith. Didn't you hear me?"
