Chapter 120 Apologizing to My Girlfriend

On the Other Side, James, Paul, and Tyler sat at the dining table, waiting for a few minutes.

Suddenly, a waiter from the kitchen called out, "Gentlemen, your dishes are ready. Please come and collect them!"

Although Savor & Vine Bistro was the best restaurant at the University of Lumina, it had many rich kids from the school.

Therefore, the waitstaff at the restaurant were often overwhelmed, especially during peak dining hours, so students usually had to collect their own food.

Upon hearing the waiter, James, Paul, and the others quickly got up and headed towards the food collection area.

"I didn't expect Savor & Vine Bistro to be like our cafeteria, where we have to collect our own food!" Paul, who was visiting such a place for the first time, remarked as he picked up a plate of food.

"Yeah, it's my first time dining here, too. I have no idea if the food is good or not!" Tyler added.

"If you guys like it, I can bring you here often in the future!" James said softly after hearing Paul and Tyler's conversation.

"Come here often?" Paul looked at James in surprise, then furrowed his brows and said, "James, this meal is going to cost over a thousand dollars. If we come here often, you'll go bankrupt after just a few meals."

James smiled but remained silent.

Paul and Tyler left with their food, leaving behind a bowl of bouillabaisse. James picked up the bouillabaisse and headed back to their table.

However, before James could get far, a figure suddenly rushed out, followed by a sharp scream.

A girl in a denim mini-skirt, in her haste, overlooked James and collided with him, causing the bouillabaisse in his hand to spill onto her skirt.

"Darling, are you okay?" A short, chubby man hurried over upon hearing the girl's scream, looking anxious as he asked her.

"Honey, this jerk deliberately bumped into me and ruined my skirt!" The girl, seeing her skirt stained with bouillabaisse, looked very aggrieved as she exclaimed.

Upon hearing this, the chubby man's expression darkened. He looked up at James and coldly said, "It's you!"

At that moment, James carefully examined the man in front of him and felt somewhat helpless. He realized that the man was his high school classmate, originally named Eugene Baker, but everyone liked to call him "Chubby" because of his weight.

Eugene's family was in real estate, and back in high school, they were already well-off. He frequently employed his family's wealth to intimidate others and had even subjected James to torment in the past.

In recent years, Eugene's family's real estate business had been thriving, making them even wealthier. Eugene had become more arrogant and domineering.

"I was wondering who it could be. Turns out it's you, James!" Eugene had been worried about what would happen if his girlfriend offended the rich kids at the University of Lumina.

After all, the University of Lumina had a lot of wealthy individuals. Although Eugene's family might have some money, it did not mean he could mess with just anyone.

However, upon seeing James, his tense expression immediately relaxed. He took a few steps forward and said to James, "James, are you now working as a waiter for Eugene Baker?"

"I'm here to eat!" James replied calmly.

"You're here to eat?" Eugene sneered at James and disdainfully said, "With your poor status, you probably can't afford to eat here. Do you know how much a meal costs here? It's enough to buy you several meals at the cafeteria."

Upon hearing Eugene's words, James gave him a disgusted look.

With Paul and Tyler present, James didn't want to continue the conversation. He said, "Your girlfriend bumped into me and spilled my food. Considering that we have been old classmates, I will let go of this matter and not hold it against you."

"You're talking nonsense. It was clearly you who bumped into me and spilled the food on my skirt!" The girl beside Eugene shouted upon hearing James' words.

Ignoring her, James walked away.

Eugene suddenly reached out and stopped James, then sneered, "James, it's not about whether you want to deal with this or not. You dirtied my darling's skirt. You owe me an explanation."

Meanwhile, Michael, Jennifer, and the others nearby were watching James with narrowed eyes, looking gleeful. They were eager to see James embarrassed.

Jennifer had initially planned to expose James in front of everyone, but considering their scheme, she held back.

Now, with Eugene's sudden appearance, they could enjoy the spectacle.

Paul and Tyler also noticed the situation.

"You're completely unreasonable. It was your girlfriend who bumped into James. We're letting you off lightly by not asking for compensation. How dare you demand an explanation from us?" Paul walked over, visibly upset, and shouted at Eugene.

"And who are you? Do you have any evidence to prove that it was my girlfriend who bumped into James?" Eugene retorted aggressively.

Upon hearing Eugene's words, Paul hesitated, as he currently had no evidence to prove that Eugene's girlfriend had bumped into James. Moreover, he had left the scene earlier and hadn't witnessed the collision between James and the girl.

"What do you want now?" James asked Eugene.

"You dirtied my darling's clothes. Considering we were classmates, I'll give you two options: either pay up or have the guts to kneel down and apologize to my darling. Your choice!" Eugene said arrogantly.

"Kneel down and apologize?" James' eyes flashed with a strange color as he heard this.

"How much money do you want?" Paul, not wanting to escalate the situation, hesitated and looked at Eugene.

"I bought this denim skirt for two thousand dollars!" The girl pouted and said in a delicate voice upon hearing Paul's question.

Paul and Tyler were stunned upon hearing the amount. They stood frozen in place, their expressions filled with shock.

They never expected the girl's skirt to be so expensive!

Two thousand dollars was an amount Paul couldn't afford right now!

Michael, Jennifer, and the others nearby couldn't help but smile upon witnessing this scene. In their minds, James couldn't possibly come up with two thousand dollars, so he would surely choose to kneel down and apologize in the end.

"James, I know you're a poor guy who usually makes a living by delivering food. So, it's better for you not to pay. Just kneel down and apologize to my girlfriend, and it will be over!" Eugene said to James disdainfully, seeing Paul and Tyler's dilemma.
