Chapter 221 This Is the Real Tycoon!
A minute later, the PK finally wrapped up.
Debra and Henry were totally blindsided by the outcome. Not only did they lose the match, but they also blew over half a million bucks!
Debra just sat there, stunned, her arrogance completely gone.
[Now that's what I call a big spender!]
[Yeah, SuperSmith is the real MVP. Who does Henry think he is?]
[Where's Henry now? Why isn't he running his mouth? Keep that arrogance coming!]
Linda's livestream chat was blowing up with people mocking Debra and Henry.
James typed slowly: [Remember this, Linda is my friend. If anyone messes with her, they're gonna have to deal with me!]
When Linda saw James's message, she felt a warm glow inside and a sense of security she'd never felt before.
She wanted to thank SuperSmith, but before she could, he had already left her livestream!
Even after James left, people couldn't stop talking about his crazy spending spree.
Linda's livestream popularity shot through the roof, like five or six times its usual level.
The rumors about Linda sending SuperSmith to jail were squashed.
Plus, James's final message totally crushed Debra and Henry's arrogance.
Linda looked at her computer screen, grinning from ear to ear as she read James's message.
She couldn't figure out why SuperSmith always showed up when she needed him most, and his way of protecting her was simple—throwing money around!
In SuperSmith's own words, this small change was nothing to him.
After losing, Debra quickly shut down her livestream in embarrassment, while Linda thanked her viewers and also signed off.
Sylvie, with her big, bright eyes, stared at the computer screen, looking totally shocked.
Just then, James pushed open the door and walked in.
"James, do you know who wonjust now?" Sylvie asked, turning her head excitedly as he entered.
"Who?" James played dumb, smiling.
"It was Linda! That big spender SuperSmith, who had been MIA for a while, showed up in her livestream and tipped her over two million dollars. That's a ton of money!" Sylvie exclaimed, all excited.
James couldn't help but chuckle and then said softly, "Didn't you say SuperSmith was sent to jail?"
"Maybe I got the wrong info. I just heard it from others. It's normal for stuff to get mixed up!" Sylvie replied, a bit awkwardly.
"If you don't know the whole story, don't spread rumors. Things get twisted by people like you," James said softly.
"Are you lecturing me now?"
Sylvie glared at James and then continued, "I'm telling you, even if Linda didn't send SuperSmith to jail, their relationship is definitely not normal. I think Linda is being kept by SuperSmith."
"Who told you that?" James asked, looking a bit annoyed.
"Isn't it obvious? If Linda wasn't being kept by SuperSmith, why would he give her so many gifts? Two million dollars could buy several houses in Lumina City. When will I ever be kept by such a big spender?" Sylvie sighed lightly, then lay down on the bed and looked at James, saying, "James, if I could be kept by such a big spender, I wouldn't need to livestream anymore. I could live a luxurious life every day, and then I could use some of the money to keep you. What do you think?"
"I'm not interested," James said, shaking his head without a second thought.
Sylvie shot back, "You don't know a good thing when you see it. Being kept by a beauty like me is your lucky break, but you're still being so picky."
She rolled her eyes at him and then asked, "By the way, James, who is your fiancée?"
"My fiancée..."
Before James could finish, Sylvie's phone rang.
Sylvie quickly picked up and answered with a smile, "What's up?"
"Sylvie, your match is coming up soon. Your opponent this time is Seraphina Monroe, one of the top five streamers on StreamVerse. She has several big spenders backing her, and it looks like she's gunning for first place. You need to take this seriously!" the woman on the other end of line advised.
"If Seraphina is so powerful, I might as well give up!" Sylvie replied absentmindedly and then hung up.
"What happened?" James asked softly.
"Nothing much, just my manager telling me to take today's match seriously. My opponent is one of the top five streamers on StreamVerse and has several big spenders backing her. But I just joined StreamVerse; I don't have many fans, and I don't have a big spender like SuperSmith supporting me. I definitely can't beat her, so I might as well give up!" Sylvie said casually.
"If you give up, you won't get the tip money, right?" James asked, frowning.
"I don't care about that tip money. Besides, this StreamVerse PK competition is just a way to milk money from users. I don't want to scam my fans!" Sylvie said seriously.
"Aren't you livestreaming to make money from your fans? How else are you going to make money?" James asked, puzzled.
"I'm different from other streamers. When StreamVerse recruited me, they gave me a hefty signing bonus and promised to tailor a web series for me, with me as the lead actress. I agreed to move from TikTok to StreamVerse because of these conditions!" Sylvie explained.
"I see!" James nodded lightly, not saying much more.
Sylvie continued, "I've always wanted to be an actress, but my family's financial situation didn't allow me to attend an art school, so I decided to become an internet celebrity first and then move into acting once I became famous!"
She smiled and then looked at James, saying, "StreamVerse offered such good conditions and a lot of money. Of course, I couldn't refuse. That's why I came to StreamVerse to livestream!"
"If you want to be an actress, I happen to know some executives at film companies. I can make some calls," James said softly, seeing Sylvie's serious expression.
When Charles was introducing his assets to James, he mentioned that they had shares in several major film companies. Given Sylvie's good looks and large fan base, combined with James's resources, it shouldn't be difficult to make her famous.
Sylvie was stunned and looked at James in disbelief when she heard this.
