Chapter 42 Failed Cooperation
On the other side, after Laura and Nancy left the VIP room, the manager of Moonlight Garden, Mark, walked into the room where James was.
"Mr. Smith, I apologize for my oversight earlier. Please don't fire me! I didn't mean any harm today," Mark said nervously as he entered the room.
Upon hearing Mark's words, James raised his head and glanced at him before calmly stating, "Today's incident has nothing to do with you. Rest assured. I won't dismiss you."
"Thank you, Mr. Smith!" Mark said, visibly relieved.
"Have you disclosed my identity to anyone?" James asked, tapping the table.
"No! Mr. Wilsons specifically instructed you not to reveal your identity. I'm the only one in the entire restaurant who knows, and others are completely unaware," Mark responded respectfully.
"Good." James nodded lightly and continued, "By the way, were the two individuals who mocked me earlier also members of your restaurant?"
"No, they were not. They came in with friends," Mark replied after a moment of thought.
"In that case, have them kicked out and also revoke their friends' membership, but be discreet about my identity. Do you understand?" James said calmly.
"Yes, you can trust me. I will handle this matter well," Mark assured cautiously.
James nodded in satisfaction, said a little more, and walked out of the VIP room.
Once James left, Mark visibly relaxed and let out a sigh. Then he used the walkie-talkie to instruct, "Go to VIP room No. 8 now and get all the guests out!"
"Got it!" the security captain responded promptly upon hearing Mark's command.
Mark harbored resentment towards Michael and Jennifer because if not for their meddling testimony, he wouldn't have offended James. Now that James had personally intervened, Mark had no intention of being kind to them.
Soon, Michael, Jennifer, and their companions who were dining were all escorted out by the security team.
"Why are you kicking us out? Do you know who I am? I'm VIP of your restaurant. Where is your manager? Get him out here to see me!" Michael’s friend, feeling embarrassed, exclaimed in agitation after being escorted out of the VIP room.
"I am the restaurant's manager. You can speak to me," Mark sauntered out calmly from the crowd.
"Mr. Jackson, you arrived just in time! What's wrong with your security? My friends and I were dining in the VIP room. Why were we suddenly kicked out? Are you worried I can't afford the bill?" Joshua, a wealthy man born with a silver spoon widened his eyes and shouted.
"Mr. Garcia, you should ask your friends why our security asked you to leave. They were ruining the experience for other guests," Mark turned to Michael and Jennifer, addressing them.
"What does it have anything to do with us?" Michael frowned, puzzled.
Hearing these words, Mark sneered and said coldly, "Earlier, the two of you slandered other guests in the restaurant, causing a negative impact. That's why I instructed security to remove you both!"
Michael, upon hearing this, hesitated for a moment before realizing it was due to the incident involving James.
"Mr. Garcia is also implicated because of your actions, and his membership has been revoked. Therefore, he is not entitled to dine here!" Mark added.
"Mr. Jackson, has my membership been revoked?" Joshua turned extremely unpleasant after hearing Mark's words.
After all, obtaining a membership card of Moonlight Garden was no easy feat for Joshua. He had pulled some strings to secure one. Having it suddenly revoked left Joshua feeling aggrieved.
"Mr. Garcia, I'm sorry. This is a decision from the boss and it has nothing to do with me," Mark replied indifferently.
Michael was shocked to hear Mark's words. He understood the significance of the membership card to Joshua and knew how important Joshua was to him.
Michael had come to attend Joshua's birthday banquet today primarily to please him.
After all, Joshua's family had a significant tender project, and the company of Michael's father was vying for it.
Earlier in the VIP room, Michael had told Joshua about this, and Joshua readily agreed. However, due to Michael and Jennifer's defamation of James, Joshua's membership was revoked.
Michael now didn't know how to explain to Joshua!
"Mr. Garcia, you no longer have the right to enter the restaurant. I hope you'll cooperate," Mark said softly to Joshua.
"Michael, whom have you offended? Don't bring me trouble," Joshua angrily scolded Michael.
"Mr. Garcia, please don't be angry!" Michael hurriedly said.
"I won't listen to your explanations. My membership has already been revoked, so you don't need to explain. Just get out. Don't let me see you again!" Joshua, feeling inexplicably stripped of his membership, left in a fit of frustration.
"What about the tender you’re working on?" Michael quickly asked.
"Get out! You’re a jinx to me!" Joshua ranted mercilessly.
Michael stood there dumbfounded, wearing a look of despair on his face.
After all the effort he had put in, everything had failed because of one sentence. Michael felt like he had hit rock bottom.
"What does James have that's so special? Even if we defamed him earlier, Mr. Jackson's reaction seems excessive," Jennifer said, frowning.
"James must have given Mr. Jackson some benefits. They are in cahoots!" Michael gritted his teeth and whispered. "I underestimated James before. When I return to school, I must deal with him properly!"
Michael realized that his luck had been terrible since being with Jennifer, especially when he encountered James, which had been nothing but a string of misfortunes.
Hence, Michael was eager for an opportunity to unleash his pent-up anger.
"Michael, what should we do now? Should we find another place to eat?" Jennifer hesitated and inquired softly.
"Fuck! My cooperation with Joshua has gone down the drain. Are you still thinking about eating? How naive!" Michael snapped at Jennifer, clearly displeased.
At this moment, Michael was preoccupied with how he would explain the situation to his father when he returned home. Jennifer, after being berated by Michael, dared not say another word.
