Chapter 69: Confessing to the Female Anchor

By the time Rex had dinner with Linda today, he had already confessed to Linda once. After all, Rex had gone to great lengths to steal James' account, all with the purpose of getting Linda into bed. However, Linda felt that she had just met Rex today, and to agree to be with him so quickly seemed somewhat immodest. Additionally, Linda felt that she didn't know Rex very well, so she suggested that they get to know each other first.

But after the events of tonight, Linda was completely moved by Rex and her feelings started to waver. "Linda, can you give me a chance? Although we haven't known each other for long, I swear, I genuinely like you. I will only treat you well for the rest of my life!" Rex continued when he noticed Linda's hesitation.

"Can I think about it?" Linda said shyly to Rex.

"What more do you need to think about? My feelings for you should be evident." Rex asked somewhat excitedly.

"I know you're good to me, but I still need to think about it. After all, we've only known each other for less than a day. Can you let me think about it?" Linda nervously said to Rex.

"Alright, Linda, take your time to think about it!" Rex replied with a slightly excited expression. He knew that since Linda had said such words, it meant that she had probably already agreed in her heart. However, the girl displayed some coyness, and so Rex did not pressure Linda any further.

Additionally, there was an important matter awaiting Rex's attention - the deadline for returning his clothes was approaching, with less than an hour left for him to vacate the premises.

Linda nodded gently as she watched Rex.

Seizing the moment when Linda wasn't paying attention, Rex quickly hailed a taxi and hopped in, leaving Linda to watch in surprise as his figure slowly disappeared from her view, evoking a warm feeling in her heart.

Even though Mr. Weaver had his men assault Rex earlier that day, causing Linda significant distress, she was able to see the true nature of two individuals through this incident: James and Rex.

During her dating with Rex, Linda had turned down his confession, primarily due to James' influence. However, Linda felt that she had gained insight into James.

James' actions today had left Linda disillusioned, while Rex, on the other hand, had moved her.

Initially, Linda had intended to seek James' opinion on whether she should accept Rex, since James was her only friend in Lumina City and her impression of him had been favorable. However, after tonight's events, any goodwill Linda held towards James had completely vanished, replaced by a feeling of contempt and disgust.

Five minutes later, Linda returned alone to her rental apartment.

On the other hand, in the car, Rex was in a good mood.

Although he had unexpectedly taken a beating that day, Rex believed that if Linda had agreed to be with him, then it would have been worth it.

"Young man, would you like me to take you to the hospital?" The taxi driver, concerned about Rex's bloodied state, inquired cautiously.

"No, just take me to StyleSync Rentals!" Wiping the blood from his face, Rex impatiently commanded.

Feeling somewhat resigned, the taxi driver then drove to the location Rex had specified.

Meanwhile, in the back seat, Rex pulled out his phone, accessed the University of Lumina's forum, and posted a thread entitled, "Confessed to a Female Anchor Successfully Tonight, Just a Step Away from Intimacy, Stay Tuned for the Live Broadcast!"

After completing the post, Rex swiftly shared it, even adding a photo he had secretly taken of Linda's thigh during their dinner.

Despite the late hour, approaching 11 p.m., within a minute of Rex posting the thread, it had already garnered thousands of likes and comments.

As Rex read the comments, a lecherous smile crossed his face.

The next day, at 9 a.m., James arrived at the University of Lumina classroom.

As he entered, James observed the students casting disdainful and contemptuous glances in his direction, fully aware of the incident at the Stellar Lounge the previous night where he had pretended to be wealthy in order to impress women, a story that had now been exposed by Michael, Jennifer, and others.

"James, why are you arriving so late today? You usually come early." Sandra scoffed as she saw James enter the classroom.

"It's none of your business," James replied expressionlessly.

"We are friends; I care about you," Sandra cooed softly.

"I don't need your care!" James retorted before heading towards the back of the classroom.

"James had his cover blown by us last night. He failed to win over Sarah, so I'm sure he didn't sleep well last night," Ashley joined in with mockery.

Perhaps emboldened by the events of the previous night, which she perceived as a victory, Ashley now dared to provoke James.

"That's none of your business," James calmly observed Ashley, his expression remaining composed.

"I just want to know, how did you feel after you were exposed for pretending to be wealthy?" Ashley addressed James with a smug smile.

"Not much," James replied nonchalantly, then resumed his walk to the back of the room.

"James, why don't you share with everyone what happened last night?"

"I have always been curious about how you managed to convince Sarah that you were a wealthy man!" Jennifer, seeing James about to leave, continued her taunting.

Initially reluctant to confront Ashley and Jennifer about the previous night’s events, James was particularly annoyed by Ashley's provocation and the incident with Rex. This led him to halt his steps and give Ashley an icy stare.

"What are you planning to do, James? Do you want to hit me?" Startled by James' cold stare, Ashley took a couple of steps back, speaking softly.

"Ashley, have you forgotten that you were the one who undressed in the hotel and tearfully begged me to sleep with you?" James questioned Ashley meaningfully.
