Chapter 233 Actually, I'm Extremely Wealthy

Laura noticed James acting weird, but she kept quiet and continued eating.

Just then, James's phone buzzed.

He quickly pulled it out and saw a message from Sylvie on Facebook.

When he read it, he was floored.

'Is this woman nuts?' James thought, cursing silently. He had no clue what Sylvie was up to.

Seeing his expression, Laura asked softly, "What's up?"

"Nothing," he replied quickly, shoving his phone away, not wanting to deal with Sylvie's craziness.

Laura sensed something was off but didn't push it. She knew if James didn't want to talk, there was no point in pressing him.

"James, isn't your school break coming up soon?" Laura asked after a pause.

"Yeah, in about two weeks," James replied after thinking for a moment.

"How about coming to my hometown during the break?" Laura suggested hesitantly.

"Your hometown?" James blurted out, wondering if she was planning to introduce him to her parents.

"Yes, it's my grandfather's 90th birthday. Lots of Hall family relatives will be there. Since you're my fiancé, I think you should come too," Laura explained softly.

"Doesn't your grandfather live in Lumina City?" James asked, puzzled.

"No, he's always lived in our hometown. He has four sons and four daughters, but only my parents live in Lumina City. The others are scattered around the world. My dad doesn't keep in touch much with his siblings, since they only come back for my grandfather's birthday. I've met them less than ten times," Laura said.

"Got it," James nodded, then smiled, "I didn't realize the Hall family was so big!"

"Yeah, this year is special. Not only will my uncles and aunts come, but even my grandfather's siblings. It's a big Hall family gathering, and anyone related to us will be there," Laura continued, looking at James.

James hesitated. He couldn't reveal his true identity to Laura yet. If he went, the Hall family would see him as just a poor guy.

Despite his status, Laura's invitation made him happy.

But he didn't want to embarrass her, so after a moment, he said softly, "Wouldn't it be a bit awkward for me to go?"

"You're my fiancé, and you'll have to meet my family sooner or later. Besides, most of the Hall family already knows about you. If you don't go, it wouldn't make sense," Laura said slowly.

Seeing Laura insist, James felt it would be rude to refuse, so he reluctantly agreed, "Alright, I'll go with you then!"

"I should be heading back to my hometown the day after tomorrow. I'll have someone pick you up in two weeks, okay?" Laura said quickly, relieved that James agreed.

"No need for that. Where's your hometown? I can get there myself," James replied casually.

"Alright, it's in Willowbrook. Have you heard of it?" Laura asked softly.

"Yeah, it's not far from Lumina City. I can just take a bus," James nodded.

"Great, it's settled then. I'll come to pick you up when you arrive!" Laura agreed with a smile.

Seeing Laura's smile, James felt a mix of emotions.

From what Laura said, her grandfather's 90th birthday would be packed with relatives and friends.

James would be there as Laura's fiancé, and he worried the Hall family would look down on him, causing potential trouble.

If it were anyone else but Laura, he wouldn't be so concerned. If needed, he could reveal his true identity.

Once James revealed who he really was, there'd be no problem he couldn't handle.

But since it was Laura, things were more complicated.

"By the way, James, what are your plans after graduation?" Laura asked, snapping James out of his thoughts.

"Plans after graduation?" James was caught off guard, a trace of confusion in his eyes.

Before inheriting the former chairman's estate, James had some plans for his future.

He had planned to find a decent job after graduation, save money to buy a house in Lumina City, and then marry Jennifer.

But with the sudden inheritance, money was no longer an issue.

Plus, Jennifer had betrayed him for money, leaving James uncertain about his future plans.

"I haven't decided yet," James replied awkwardly, looking at Laura.

"If so, how about working at my company after graduation? We can run the cosmetics company together, and the money we make should be enough for us to live comfortably for the rest of our lives!" Laura suggested with a smile.

Looking at the beautiful woman in front of him, James felt a surge of emotion. He never expected Laura to have already planned their future together.

These were things James had never even thought about.

James felt a tinge of guilt, for while Laura showed such genuine concern for him, he continuously concealed his true identity.

He felt incredibly lucky to have met a woman like Laura.

In today's materialistic society, it was rare to find someone who stayed by his side, not caring about his wealth or abilities.

"If I told you now that I'm actually extremely wealthy, what would your reaction be?" James hesitated for a moment and then asked Laura softly.
