Chapter 64 Pick Up the Money for Me

Since their last goodbye at Moonlight Garden, James had not contacted Laura.

Although they had exchanged phone numbers, Laura had never taken the initiative to call James.

At this moment, James was deeply puzzled.

He couldn't fathom why Laura would call him so late.

Paul also noticed Laura's name on James' phone screen and couldn't help but smile as he said, "James, it's Laura calling you. You should answer!"

"Yeah, pick up the call!" Tyler chimed in.

After hesitating for a moment, James answered the call and spoke softly, "Hello."

"Where are you now?" Laura's voice came through the phone, sounding cold.

"I'm at the Stellar Lounge. What's up?" James paused briefly and answered in a low tone.

"Wait for me at the Stellar Lounge. I'm on my way to see you."

Laura replied curtly before hanging up without waiting for James to respond.

James felt helpless, unsure of Laura's intentions.

"James, what did Laura tell to you?" Paul asked curiously.

"It's nothing. Let's go!" James replied calmly and turned to leave.

Right now he didn't want to reveal his true identity. If he told Paul and Tyler that Laura was coming to see him personally, they would surely stay to meet his fiancée.

If Paul and Tyler had learned of Laura's true identity, James would undoubtedly have been exposed.

Therefore, James planned to leave first and return quietly later on.

Paul and Tyler did not push and left the bar with James.

A few minutes later, James parted ways with Paul and Tyler at the school gate and returned alone to the entrance of the Stellar Lounge, where he waited in silence for Laura's arrival.

Ten minutes later, a taxi pulled up to the entrance of the Stellar Lounge. However, the person who stepped out of the taxi was not Laura, but Nancy, who had been taken advantage of by James before.

Today, Nancy was dressed in a short, sexy dress that accentuated her already alluring figure and exuded an irresistible charm all over. With subtle make-up on her exquisite face, captivating eyes and seductive pink lipstick on her luscious lips, her short skirt accentuated her enticing curves.

Her long, fair legs were exposed to the air, giving off a striking sense of beauty.

After getting out of the car, Nancy briefly scanned the area around the entrance to the Stellar Lounge.

When she saw James, Nancy's eyes showed a tinge of disdain. She walked up to him.

"I thought Laura was supposed to see me. Why are you here?" James asked softly.

"I didn't want to see a poor loser like you working as a deliveryman," Nancy replied quite rudely. "Laura has some business at the company and couldn't come in person, so she asked me to deliver your living expenses!"

"My living expenses?" James was momentarily taken aback when he heard that.

"Didn't you tell my sister to give you $20,000 every month? Here's $120,000! It's your living expenses for six months." Nancy explained as she handed him a black bag containing the money.

When James saw the money in the bag, he realized what was happening. During his negotiations with Laura at Moonlight Garden, he had indeed request $20,000 as a monthly allowance.

When James reached out to take the bag, Nancy seemed to let it go intentionally.

The bag dropped to the ground, and as James stared in surprise, he slowly bent down to pick it up without saying much.

Seeing the bag drop, Nancy couldn't help but sneer. "James, you're not much of a man. A grown man like you asking Laura for money — how pathetic. Have some dignity."

"Laura is my fiancée, and we are getting married soon. It's perfectly reasonable for me to spend her money. It's none of your business," James replied calmly before opening the bag and meticulously counting the contents.

Nancy grew even more infuriated at James' response.

"No wonder the students at your school make fun of you. You're so spineless — asking a woman for money so directly. I can't believe there are such shameless men in this world!" Nancy lashed out harshly, releasing her pent-up frustration at James.

Upon hearing Nancy's words, James felt perplexed.

"A man like you is truly disgusting!" Nancy continued in a scathing tone.

James looked at Nancy coldly, then without a second thought, he tore open the black bag and throw it into the air.

Instantly, countless dollars fluttered in the wind, creating a spectacular scene.

"James, what are you doing? Are you out of your mind?" Nancy exclaimed as the money flew in the air.

"Pick up the money you just threw and give it to me!" James said indifferently to Nancy.

"Why should I pick up the money you threw? It's your mess," Nancy retorted, refusing to comply.

"If you're not going to pick it up, then go back and tell Laura that I didn't get this month's living expenses. If I don't see $20,000 in three days, our previous agreement is no longer valid and she will have to become my legal wife!" James said calmly and continued "I'm leaving this mess for you."

As James turned and walked away, Nancy hesitated. She knew that her task for the day was to deliver the money to James. If he didn't receive the money, she would have to cover the $120,000 shortfall, even though she was quite wealthy.

Although Nancy was affluent, twelve thousand was still a significant sum for a student like her.

"James, you bastard!" Nancy cursed before reluctantly bending down to pick up the scattered notes.

Just then, the people in the bar seemed to notice the money and rushed out to grab it.

"Don't grab it, this is my money! You thieves, stop grabbing!" Nancy shouted angrily as the onlookers began to grab the cash.

Even Jennifer, Ashley, Sandra, and the others, who had previously been arrogant joined in the frenzy to snatch the money.

Nancy, who had been assertive before, now looked like a madwoman as she scrambled to gather the money from the ground, looking extremely disheveled.

Watching this scene from a distance, James couldn't help but chuckle as he hailed a cab to go home.
