Chapter 320 Found a Good Son-in-Law
After Rufus was slapped hard by Floyd, he was completely stunned.
He stood there with a blank expression, his face full of disbelief.
Because Rufus never expected that the one who would stop him in the end was none other than his own grandfather, Floyd!
As the most outstanding child among the third generation of the Hall Family, Floyd always treated Rufus like a treasure wherever they went.
No matter what Rufus did wrong, Floyd would always unconditionally stand by Rufus's side!
But this time, Floyd's actions shocked everyone!
"Floyd, what are you doing? Let the kids handle their own issues. Why did you have to get physical?"
Conrad seemed a bit surprised as well. He quickly walked up to Floyd and tried to stop him.
"Conrad, Rufus was indeed wrong today. It's only right for Rufus to apologize to James!"
Floyd wasn't a fool. He knew that Conrad was no longer the same as before. He had clearly seen how Elmer and Willie treated James just now.
Even a big family like the Hays Family didn't dare to offend James. No matter how bold Floyd was, he wouldn't dare to make an enemy of James over this!
So he thought the best solution now was for Rufus to apologize to James. Given his relationship with Conrad, James probably wouldn't pursue the matter further.
To put it bluntly, no one knew James's true identity, but from today's events, they could sense that James's identity was definitely not simple, and offending him was definitely not a good idea!
"Rufus, what are you standing there for? Hurry up and apologize to James!" Floyd shouted excitedly, his eyes wide open.
"Why should I..." Rufus was still a bit unwilling and just opened his mouth to speak.
But Floyd slapped him hard again, right across the face!
After this slap, Rufus finally behaved, looking at James with a red face.
"I told you to go apologize to James. Did you hear me?" Floyd shouted at Rufus with a dark expression.
"I heard you!" Rufus gritted his teeth and nodded, then walked up to James and said, "James, I was wrong today. Sorry!"
James saw that things had come to this point and didn't want to escalate the situation, so he said to Rufus, "You don't need to apologize to me. If you really want to, then apologize to my fiancée."
There wasn't much of a conflict between James and Rufus. James just couldn't stand Rufus mocking Laura earlier.
Since Rufus wanted to apologize now, he might as well apologize to Laura directly.
Rufus hesitated for a moment, then slowly turned to Laura and said, "Laura, I'm sorry!"
Laura was a very sensible woman. She didn't want to escalate the matter either, so she replied politely, "It's okay!"
Rufus took a deep breath and turned to Floyd.
Floyd wasn't in a good mood either. "Conrad, your birthday banquet is almost over. I have some other matters to attend to, so I'll take my leave now!"
With that, he turned and left the restaurant, not giving Conrad any chance to persuade him to stay.
Seeing Floyd leave, Kirk didn't want to stay either. After a brief exchange with Conrad, he hurriedly left.
In the blink of an eye, only Conrad's children, Laura, and James were left in the restaurant.
Conrad couldn't help but glance at James, then smiled and asked, "James, what exactly happened today? How do you know so many important people?"
"Yeah, James, why haven't we heard about your connections before?"
Nancy's mother was also curious about James. She had heard some things about James from Nancy, but in Nancy's stories, James seemed like a poor boy with nothing special.
But looking at him today, he didn't seem like a poor boy at all; he seemed like a super-rich second generation!
James hesitated for a moment, wanting to explain.
But before he could speak, Laura said, "Actually, James doesn't know these people. They came to please James!"
"They came to please James?" Conrad was even more puzzled by this.
He couldn't understand what was so special about James that so many big shots would come to please him.
But Laura didn't give Conrad and the others a chance to ask further questions. She grabbed James and said, "James, now that those people are gone, you should be free, right?"
James was a bit confused by Laura's actions and replied in a puzzled tone, "Yeah, I'm free now."
"Great, since you're free, there are many fun places in Willowbrook. Let me take you out!" Laura said with a smile, then pulled James towards the restaurant's exit.
"I'll go with you!" Nancy saw Laura leaving and quickly followed, leaving a shocked Conrad and the others behind.
Laura was in such a hurry to take James away because she was worried that if they kept asking, James might tell the truth.
If they didn't know that those big shots came for Charles and not for James, everyone would think James had a deep background and would be wary of him, and no one would dare to bully him again.
But if they found out the truth, James would still be the same James in their eyes, and they would continue to look down on him.
"Joe, you're also in Lumina City. Don't you know anything about this James?"
Conrad hesitated for a moment and looked at Joe, seemingly trying to get some information from him.
"Dad, I've actually investigated James's background, but I found nothing. All I know is that he's a student at the University of Lumina, so I don't know much about him either!" Joe quickly replied.
Hearing this, Conrad took a deep breath and said, "It seems this is a chance given to our Hall Family by God. Laura has found you all a good son-in-law!"
