Chapter 145 Donovan's Confession

James looked at Laura in front of him, feeling an urge to nod in acknowledgment.

However, the terms of the inheritance contract explicitly stated that James was prohibited from disclosing his true identity to Laura; otherwise, he would forfeit his right to inherit.

James hid his identity from others to avoid disrupting his life.

But hiding his identity from Laura was a necessity.

Seeing James's silence, Laura couldn't help but sneer and said playfully, "Alright, you don't need to say anything. Just by looking at you, I already know the answer. There's no way someone like you could afford a villa, especially one worth fifty million dollars. I was definitely overthinking it!"

"That's right, I can't afford any villa!"

James nodded at Laura and continued, "Do you have anything else? If not, I need to get back to work!"

Laura hesitated for a moment, then looked at James and said, "I don't want others to know about our relationship, so if anyone asks how we know each other, just say we met at a bar, got it?"

"Got it!"

James nodded lightly.

"And since I've already agreed to marry you, I won't go back on my word. Let's get the marriage certificate tomorrow!"

Laura knew that marrying James was an unavoidable fact.

Furthermore, the individual who insisted on Laura marrying James had already provided significant assistance to her father's company during a difficult period. Therefore, Laura was determined not to prolong the matter any further. It was better to just get the marriage certificate with James.

"Getting the certificate so soon?"

James's eyes flashed with excitement as he heard Laura's words.

"Don't get any ideas. We're just getting a marriage certificate. You'll still be you, and I'll still be me. We won't interfere with each other!"

Laura hurriedly explained to James, fearing he might misunderstand.

"I understand!"

Seeing Laura's attitude, James nodded somewhat disappointedly.

However, he thought that getting the marriage certificate with Laura was a good thing for him.

After all, once they got the certificate, James could rightfully inherit the ten trillion dollar inheritance and wouldn't have to hide his identity from Laura anymore.

"Alright, that's all I wanted to say. You can get back to work!" Laura said to James indifferently.

James asked, "When are we getting the certificate tomorrow?"

"Wait for my call. I'll let you know!" Laura replied softly, then turned and walked towards the private room.

After witnessing Laura's departure, James helplessly turned his attention back to the bar counter.

Although Laura had agreed to get the certificate with James, for some reason, James couldn't feel happy at all.

He felt that his relationship with Laura might end there, so he was in a very low mood and wasn't working as diligently as before.

In the blink of an eye, two hours had passed.

During these two hours, James was absent-minded, thinking about Laura's cold attitude towards him in the private room and the things she had said.

"Excuse me! "

At this moment, a man in a bar uniform walked in, holding a large bouquet of roses.

Seeing the roses in the man's arms, everyone showed curious expressions.

"Where did you get those roses?" Jessica asked, puzzled by the roses in the man's hands.

"These are for a guest in private room number eight. It seems someone in the room is going to confess!" The man replied with a smile.

"Private room number eight?"

James was stunned upon hearing this, then remembered that Laura was in private room number eight.

When James entered the private room earlier, he saw only two girls inside. One of them seemed to already have a boyfriend, and Donovan's gaze towards Laura was a bit off. Could it be thatDonovan wanted to confess to Laura?

Although James knew that even if someone wanted to confess to Laura, it had nothing to do with him, he couldn't suppress his curiosity and quickly walked up to the staff member, saying in a low voice, "Give me the roses. I'll deliver them..."

"No way, the guest inside promised me a two hundred dollar tip!"

The delivery man quickly refused.

Without thinking, James pulled out two bills from his pocket, threw them in front of the man, and grabbed the roses, heading towards private room number eight.

The delivery man took the money James threw and looked puzzled, scratching his head and saying, "Why is he so excited about someone else's confession?"

Snatching the roses from the deliveryman, James hastily made his way towards private room number eight.

James pushed open the door to private room number eight.

Donovan, sitting on the sofa, saw James holding the roses and angrily scolded, "Are you a turtle? How can you be so slow in getting flowers!"

After saying this, Donovan snatched the roses from James's hands and slowly walked towards Laura.

Seeing this, James was even more certain that Donovan Diaz was going to confess to Laura.

Laura didn't notice James entering and focused her attention on Donovan, asking in confusion, "Donovan, what are you doing?"

Without thinking, Donovan knelt in front of Laura.

Seeing Donovan kneel, James was stunned because Donovan was kneeling on both knees!

The young man beside Donovan also noticed something was wrong and quickly reminded, "Mr. Diaz, usually people kneel on one knee when confessing."

"Kneeling on both knees shows more sincerity."

Donovan shouted back.

"Mr. Diaz, only during rituals do people kneel on both knees!" The young man said helplessly.

"I don't need your reminder!"

Donovan angrily scolded, then adjusted his kneeling posture and said to Laura, "Laura, I've liked you for a long time. Will you be my girlfriend?"

Laura stared at Donovan standing before her, completely bewildered and feeling helpless. She had never expected Donovan to confess his feelings to her.

"Laura, I genuinely like you. Please be with me, okay?"

Seeing Laura's silence, Donovan quickly pressed on.

"Be together!"

The guests in the private room started to cheer.

James's expression became serious as he looked at Laura.

He was worried that if Laura agreed to Donovan, he would be betrayed by a woman once again.

Although he and Laura were only nominally married, James didn't want to experience the feeling of betrayal again.
