Chapter 324 Don't Touch Me

"You want to sleep with me?" James was stunned when he heard Laura's words. He looked at the lace nightgown-clad Laura in disbelief, momentarily unsure of how to respond.

"Uh, Laura, what are you talking about? Are you joking with me?" James stammered as he asked Laura.

"I'm not joking. We might really have to sleep together tonight!" Laura said as she walked into James's room with her long, beautiful legs and sat angrily on the bed.

Laura was wearing a cool nightgown, and her already alluring figure became even more enticing due to her sitting posture.

James couldn't help but take another look, then walked over to Laura and asked in a puzzled tone, "What's going on here?"

"What else could it be? The Hall Family mansion has limited space, and now that everyone is back, there aren't enough rooms. So, everyone has to share a room, and we were assigned to the same room!" Laura explained to James with a helpless expression.

"Oh, they probably think we're already together, so they put us in the same room!" James quickly replied with a smile after hearing Laura's explanation.

He was secretly thrilled at the thought of spending the night with a beauty like Laura; it was like a dream come true!

"Yeah, even if I wanted to explain to them, they wouldn't believe me now! I was planning to stay somewhere else, but then I thought if I left, they would definitely suspect our relationship, so I might as well stay here!" Laura sighed softly as she looked at James.

"It's okay, the room is big enough. We can squeeze in and make it work!" James replied with a smile.

"That's true." Laura nodded at James, then threw her pillow onto the bed and lay down gracefully.

"Well, Laura, it's getting late. We should get some rest," James said as he walked to the bed, ready to sleep.

"James, what are you doing?" Laura's eyes widened as she shouted when she saw James approaching.

"I'm going to bed! What else would I be doing?" James replied with a slightly helpless expression, lifting the blanket to get into bed.

"Who said you could sleep in the bed? Get down!" Laura said as she used her legs to push James off the bed.

"Laura, what do you mean? If I can't sleep in the bed, where should I sleep?" James asked in a puzzled tone as he looked at Laura.

"Of course, you're sleeping on the floor! I haven't agreed to be with you, and we're not married yet, so we can't sleep in the same bed!" Laura's face turned red as she threw James's pillow and blanket onto the floor.

James couldn't help but smile at Laura's shy demeanor. Who would have thought that this ice queen could be so bashful?

James had hoped something might happen between him and Laura tonight, but he never expected to end up sleeping on the floor.

He felt like he had fallen from heaven to hell in an instant.

"If you don't want to sleep on the floor, I can go to a hotel right now!" Laura said as she got up to leave, seeing James's reluctant expression.

"Forget it, it's too dangerous for you to go out alone this late, and your parents would definitely question me. I'll just make do." James reluctantly stopped Laura, then arranged his pillow and blanket on the floor, preparing to sleep there for the night.

In this environment, even sleeping on the floor was better than James's old wooden bed at home. At least this room had a carpet.

Laura felt a bit guilty seeing James actually lying on the floor, but she couldn't accept sleeping in the same bed with him, so she said nothing more and went back to the bed.

James turned off the light and prepared to sleep after seeing Laura lie down.

But whether it was because there was a man in the room or because she was worried James might get sick sleeping on the floor, Laura tossed and turned, unable to sleep.

Laura glanced at James lying on the floor and hesitated before asking softly, "James, are you asleep?"

"Not yet, what's up?" James replied.

Laura felt selfish for sleeping in the bed while James slept on the floor, so she asked softly, "Are you cold lying on the floor?"

"It's okay, I have a blanket. It's just a bit cold when the wind blows in," James replied softly.

In reality, James didn't feel cold at all on the carpet; he just wanted to trick Laura into letting him back on the bed.

Kind-hearted Laura frowned at James's words, then bit her lip and said, "James, if you're cold, you can come up and sleep on the bed."

James was stunned for a moment, then asked, "Are you really okay with it?"

"Of course, I don't want you to get sick. But you can't touch me, okay? If you can promise that, you can come up," Laura said softly after hesitating for a moment.

James didn't hesitate for a second, grabbing his blanket and jumping onto the bed, lying comfortably next to Laura.

Laura glanced at James, feeling a bit nervous, but said nothing more.
