Chapter 290 Why Can't I Leave?

"You better rethink your offer. I'm not giving anyone the sheet music for that violin piece, and I don't even have it written down. It's all in my head!" James said to Jessa, his face blank.

"Then just write it down for me!" Jessa replied, sounding casual.

"Didn't you hear me? I said I'm not giving this sheet music to anyone. Change your offer!" James said coldly.

Right then, Irvin slammed the table and shouted, "Who do you think you are? My girlfriend's just asking you for a music sheet, and you still refuse! What? Are you just humiliating me?"

"Yeah, James, it's just writing down some music," Nancy shouted, frowning.

"James, Miss Greer has already shown you a lot of respect. Aren't you being a bit too much?" Lily added.

No one could figure out what James was thinking. Jessa had been making concessions, but James didn't seem to care at all. It was just a piece of violin music, but James still refused to hand it over.

"This isn't about respect. This sheet music is really important to me, and I'm not giving it to anyone!" James replied, his face expressionless. He looked up at Jessa and said, "If you don't have anything else, I'm leaving."

"I only have one request, and that's for the violin sheet music!" Jessa said softly to James.

"Sorry, I can't do that!" James replied indifferently, then walked out of the room.

"James, you can't leave!" Dorian shouted, eyes wide.

"Why can't I leave?" James asked calmly.

"Do you know who you're offending today? This is Miss Greer and Mr. Hays. If you leave today, can you handle the consequences?" Dorian shouted, his hands trembling.

James glanced at Dorian indifferently, said nothing, and walked out of the reception room. Everyone in the room was shocked, standing there dumbfounded, their expressions incredulous. No one expected James actually to leave like that!

Irvin stood there with a dark expression, extremely angry because it was the first time he had been so blatantly ignored.

Irvin took a deep breath, a sinister smile appearing on his lips.

Laura, Nancy, and Lily hesitated for a moment after seeing James leave, then followed him out of the reception room. In no time, only Dorian, Jessa, and Irvin were left in the room.

Dorian was too scared to speak. He had gone to great lengths to please Irvin and had finally found an opportunity to get closer to him, but James ruined it.

And the most infuriating part was that James had ticked off both Irvin and Jessa, which was practically asking for trouble!

This whole mess not only damaged his relationship with Irvin but also strained the ties between the Hays and Hall Families.

"Mr. Hays, James... he is really out of line. Please don't..." Dorian stammered to Irvin.

"This isn't your fault. You can go." Irvin waved him off.

Without a second thought, Dorian turned and bolted out of the room.

Jessa sat on the sofa, looking dejected and upset.

"Jessa, don't worry. I'll make sure he comes to apologize and get you that sheet music you want!" Irvin said softly to Jessa after a moment of hesitation.

"I believe you!" Jessa nodded slightly, sighed, and said nothing more.

After leaving the ArtScape Center, Nancy shouted at James, her face full of agitation, "James, are you out of your mind? How could you offend Irvin? Do you even know who he is?"

James glanced at Nancy indifferently and said nothing.

He remembered that the head of the Hays Family was also one of Charles's subordinates. They had come this far thanks to Charles's protection.

Back at the Fairy Lake Resort, James had met Irvin's father, Elmer Hays, and had a deep impression of him.

It was precisely because of this that James was so confident today. He wasn't worried about Irvin's retaliation. As long as Irvin knew his identity, he wouldn't dare to retaliate.

"It's all my fault. If I had known it would turn out like this, I wouldn't have brought James along. I didn't expect it to end up like this." Lily said, sounding guilty.

"Lily, it's not your fault. It's James's fault. I don't know what he's thinking. Miss Greer offered him the position of manager at the ArtScape Center, but he insisted on going back to Lumina City to deliver food. Is delivering food really that great?"

Nancy pouted and then turned to James, shouting, "Besides, when Miss Greer asked for the sheet music, you should have given it to her. Why didn't you? I don't understand what you're thinking!"

"James, is that sheet music really that important to you? Why won't you give it to Miss Greer?" Laura asked softly after hesitating for a moment.

Back in the reception room, Laura had noticed something off about James's expression.

James looked at Laura and said expressionlessly, "My mom taught me that piece. It's the only piece I know how to play, so I don't want to give it to anyone else."

The others were stunned after hearing James's words.
