Chapter 411 The Unperceptive Security Guard
                    Innovation Hub Tower, parking lot.
James had just wrapped up explaining his connection to the sports car owner to Rosalind, and she agreed to his plan to drive away.
But just as Rosalind was about to take off, all the security guards in the parking lot suddenly rushed out.
This was the Golden Peak Group's parking lot, packed with luxury cars, so the security was top-notch.
The security guards had already seen Rosalind hit the sports car, but since she was waiting for the owner to show up, they didn't step in.
What they didn't expect was some random guy showing up and telling Rosalind to leave.
If they let Rosalind go, they'd be out of a job by tomorrow.
"Rosalind, what are you waiting for? Get out of here, now!" James yelled, seeing the security guards closing in.
"James, I think I should stay. What if I get caught running away?" Rosalind, just a naive college student, was freaking out.
Seeing the security guards charging at her, she got even more nervous.
"If you don't go now, you won't get another chance!" James shouted, desperate.
Rosalind looked at James, torn and unsure of what to do.
"Young lady, there are cameras everywhere. If you run, they've already got you on tape. Think you can dodge the law? If the owner calls the cops, they'll nab you in no time!" a middle-aged man from earlier stepped in, shouting at Rosalind.
"Yeah, young lady, don't do anything stupid. Running now makes it a hit-and-run, and that's serious trouble!" others chimed in, trying to talk sense into her.
Hearing all this, James was beyond frustrated. He wanted to slap every single one of them.
The car was actually James's. He just didn't want to blow his cover in front of Rosalind, so he told her to leave, planning to handle the rest himself.
But he didn't expect these busybodies to scare Rosalind into staying, calling it a hit-and-run!
Rosalind, clearly shaken, turned to James and said, "James, I know you're trying to help, but let's wait for the owner."
With that, Rosalind stopped the car, got out, and stood there.
Seeing her get out, James was completely deflated, at a loss for words.
"If you want to wait for the owner, then fine, wait here," James replied to Rosalind with a sigh, then turned to leave.
Since Rosalind wasn't planning on leaving, James figured he might as well split. She couldn't stay here forever, so he planned to come back late at night when everyone was gone and sneak the car away. That way, Rosalind wouldn't be held responsible and wouldn't have to pay.
"Hey, kid, did I say you could leave?" one of the security guards shouted.
To these guards, James and Rosalind were clearly together, so they weren't about to let James walk away that easily.
James glanced back at the guard, muttered a curse under his breath, and kept walking.
"I told you to stop, didn't you hear me?" the guard yelled, getting more worked up.
"Officer, he's just my classmate. He has nothing to do with this," Rosalind quickly stepped in, trying to explain.
"We saw everything. This guy was telling you to run, so he can't leave. He has to stay here and wait for the car owner with you!" the guard shouted, all self-righteous.
The guard's voice was loud enough for James to hear clearly, even from a few hundred feet away.
James's eyes flashed with frustration, and he cursed in his head, 'Where did Charles find these idiot guards? They don't even recognize their own boss.'
Despite his thoughts, James instinctively picked up his pace, knowing that if the guards caught him, it would be a hassle.
Seeing James speed up, the guards thought he was trying to make a break for it, so they started chasing him.
After a moment's hesitation, James decided to bolt out of the parking lot.
"These idiots, I'll have Charles fire all of you tomorrow!" James muttered as he ran, glancing back at the guards chasing him.
James was in pretty good shape, and as a long-time delivery guy, he was way faster than the guards.
In no time, he had put several hundred feet between himself and the guards.
Seeing James getting away, the guards stopped, pulled out their walkie-talkies, and said, "Captain, there's a guy who hit a car in the parking lot and is trying to escape. He's almost at the building exit. Requesting backup!"
"Roger that!" came the quick response.
Seeing the guards not chasing him anymore, James breathed a sigh of relief, slowed down, and headed towards the street.
But just then, a large group of security guards suddenly rushed out of Innovation Hub Tower.
Seeing them, James was instantly dumbfounded!
