Chapter 253 Change to the Supreme Private Room
Inside the private room of The Golden Elm Bistro, James saw Atticus walk in and immediately looked like he was in trouble.
He had told Atticus before not to let The Hall Family know he owned the place, and especially not to let Laura find out who he really was.
But here was Atticus anyway. James's biggest fear now was that Atticus would stroll over and greet him.
James was at a loss for words and instinctively tried to hide behind Laura.
Actually, Atticus wasn't there to see James. He was just about to head back to Lumina City after checking on the restaurant when he heard some noise coming from the private room. He overheard Thalia saying she wanted to file a complaint, so he came in to check it out.
Normally, as the general manager, Atticus wouldn't bother with stuff like this. But he knew James was eating here today. If James found out about the commotion, it would make the restaurant look bad, and Atticus would get an earful.
What he didn't expect was that the private room with the issue was the one James was in.
Seeing Atticus come in, James quickly shot him a look. Everyone else was focused on the waiter, so only Atticus caught it.
Atticus got the message right away. Instead of talking to James, he turned to the waiter and asked, "What's going on here?"
"Mr. Hayes, this gentleman wants to change rooms, but all our private rooms are booked. When they found out, they wanted to file a complaint."
The waiter got nervous seeing Atticus. After all, the general manager only showed up once every two months. Running into him today was pretty unusual.
After getting the lowdown, Atticus turned to Leander and asked, "What's your name, sir?"
"My name's Leander Crowe. Who are you?" Leander didn't take Atticus seriously, thinking he was just some low-level supervisor.
"Mr. Crowe, nice to meet you. I'm Atticus Hayes, the general manager of this restaurant," Atticus said with a smile.
Hearing Atticus's name, Leander's legs almost gave out.
Atticus was a big deal in Lumina City. All the rich kids knew he was the general manager of Fairy Lake Resort. Plus, he had a strong background and was a major player in both legal and illegal circles. Leander knew he couldn't mess with someone like that.
Leander never thought he'd get into it with Atticus over something as small as changing rooms.
If he really ticked off Atticus, even his boss Lucian couldn't save him.
"Mr. Hayes, what a surprise to see you here!" Leander stammered, shaking.
Joe and Isolde, being from Lumina City, knew what kind of person Atticus was, so they weren't too shocked by Leander's reaction.
But what Atticus did next left everyone a bit stunned.
"Mr. Crowe, you wanted to change rooms, right?" Atticus asked Leander with a smile.
"I..." Leander was about to say he didn't want to change anymore; he didn't want to risk ticking off Atticus over this.
But Atticus didn't give him a chance to speak. He turned to the waiter and said, "What are you standing there for? Take these distinguished guests to our supreme private room. I just saw that one of them is empty!"
The waiter was stunned.
He never expected Atticus to agree to change rooms for Leander and his group, let alone upgrade them to the most exclusive, supreme private room.
The Golden Elm Bistro is a big deal in Riversong Province. Even though it's close to Willowbrook, its reputation is top-notch.
And the supreme private room? It hadn't had guests for months because it was reserved for only the most important people.
Joe, Isolde, and Thalia were all floored.
They grew up around Willowbrook and knew this restaurant well.
Even the mayor of Lumina City might not get into the supreme private room!
Everyone stared at Atticus and Leander in shock.
They thought Atticus was giving them the supreme private room because of Leander's influence.
But Leander himself was confused. He was just a vice president at an investment company; how could he have such pull?
They thought it was because of Leander, but the real reason was James, who was hiding behind Laura.
"Mr. Hayes, are you really giving them the supreme private room?" The waiter thought he misheard and hesitated.
"Yes, take the guests over!" Atticus nodded, then glanced at Laura in front of James. He figured she must be James' fiancée.
Seeing Laura, Atticus thought, 'No wonder Mr. Smith isn't interested in the women I introduced; he has such a beautiful fiancée.'
The waiter got the message and led Leander, Thalia, and the others to the supreme private room.
James followed quietly.
Soon, they arrived at the supreme private room.
Thalia and Thalassa were stunned by the luxurious decor.
"Oh my God, this room is so fancy!" Thalassa exclaimed softly.
"Yeah, I've never been anywhere this nice!" Elowen shouted.
"Ladis and gentlemen, if you need anything, just ask the waiters outside; they'll help you," Atticus said with a smile.
"Thank you, Mr. Hayes!" Leander quickly replied.
Atticus glanced at Leander indifferently, not planning to respond, and turned to James. "If there's nothing else, I'll take my leave."
James shot a glance at Atticus.
Atticus gave a faint smile and then left the room.
