Chapter 124 A Thief Appeared

The students in the restaurant were all looking at James with surprised expressions.

They couldn't understand why James would reject Sarah.

In their perspective, for Sarah to take the initiative and confess her feelings to James was deemed as the luckiest thing to ever happen in James's life.

But now James had turned her down, which was clearly disrespecting Sarah.

"Let's go back to eating. There's no point in standing here!"

James, feeling uncomfortable under the scrutinizing gazes of everyone, decided he didn't want to remain there any longer. He turned and walked towards the dining area.

Sarah, Evelyn, and the others quickly followed James back to their seats to start eating.

Jennifer, seeing James and the others leave, stood there dumbfounded, then suddenly shouted at James, "James, I know why you rejected Sarah. I finally understand what's going on!"

Hearing Jennifer's words, James couldn't help but look up at her.

"You still can't get over me, can you? You've always wanted to get back together with me, right?" Jennifer shouted triumphantly.

James looked at Jennifer without saying a word.

"Since you're not saying anything, it implies that you are actually agreeing. It's clear that you haven't moved on from me all this time, which is why you brought Sarah into this act, hoping to provoke me and make me change my mind, isn't that right? But James, let me tell you, you should give up on that idea. I will never be with you again. I could never like someone like you. You're just a poor loser, and you can't compare to Michael at all!" Jennifer continued shouting at James.

In her view, this was the only explanation that made sense for what happened today.

James first got Sarah to act to provoke her, then rejected Sarah in front of everyone to make her change her mind.

Otherwise, it was implausible for James to reject a beautiful girl's confession, and equally unlikely for Sarah to have any interest in James.

But if everything that happened was just a play by James to win her back, then it all made sense.

Ashley, Sandra, and the others who heard Jennifer's words also thought she made a lot of sense.

James glanced at Jennifer and then sneered, "Are you out of your mind?"

"James, stop denying it. I saw through your desire a long time ago. You really went to great lengths for me, but sorry, I will never like a poor loser like you. Stop wasting your time on me!" Jennifer replied smugly, then turned and walked out of the restaurant.

Michael, Sandra, and the others quickly followed Jennifer out of the restaurant.

Tyler, seeing Jennifer leave, seemed a bit puzzled and softly asked James, "James, were you really acting with Sarah just now?"

"I'm not bored."

Sarah glared at Tyler and continued, "I really like James. No one would act for that gold digger!"

Tyler looked at Sarah awkwardly and said nothing.

Maybe because James had rejected Sarah earlier, everyone was silent while eating, making the atmosphere a bit awkward.

In less than 20 minutes, James and the others finished their meal.

Paul took out his phone to check the time and then softly said, "It's still early. Evelyn and Sarah, do you have anything to do this afternoon? There's a new Marvel movie out. How about we go watch it together?"

"Sure, I'm free this afternoon!" Evelyn quickly nodded.

"I'm free too," Sarah replied calmly. She came here for James today, so she didn't want to leave.

"Alright, let's go to the movies then. The theater is pretty close."

Seeing the two girls agree, Paul was pleased and got up to leave.

"I'll go pay the bill!"

Having said that, James turned around and proceeded towards the cashier at the restaurant.

Seeing James go to pay, Paul wanted to go with him, worried that James might not have enough money.

But just then, his phone rang.

Paul glanced at the number and saw it was a classmate calling, so he quickly answered with a smile, "Carl, what's up?"

After Paul answered the call, the other person asked anxiously, "Paul, are you with James and Tyler?"

"Yeah," Paul replied softly.

"You need to get James and Tyler and come back to class quickly. Something bad happened!"

"What happened?" Paul asked, puzzled.

"There's a thief in our class. Everyone's back except you!"

"A thief in our class?"

Hearing this, Paul frowned, a look of confusion flashing in his eyes.

"Alright, I won't say much more! Just come back quickly and bring James and Tyler. Everyone else is already here!" The other person said urgently.

"Okay, got it!"

Paul felt the other person wasn't joking, so he quickly agreed and hung up the phone.

"Paul, what's up?"

Seeing Paul hang up, Evelyn asked, puzzled.

"Evelyn, Sarah, you two go to the theater and wait for us. Something happened in our class, and we need to go back," Paul said slowly.

"What happened? If it's not important, don't go. Sarah and I didn't come here easily."

Evelyn seemed reluctant to let Paul and the others leave, pouting.

"It's pretty important. We'll come find you after we handle it."

Paul said helplessly.

"Alright."

Evelyn nodded slightly.

"Let's go!"

Paul called to Tyler, then turned and walked out of the restaurant.

"Paul, what's up?"

James had just finished paying and saw Paul and Tyler hurrying to leave.

"James, it seems there's a thief in our class. Carl just called and said everyone's back except us three!" Paul explained hurriedly.

"A thief?"

Hearing this, James looked puzzled.

This morning, their classmates were discussing this, and now there was a thief. That was quite a coincidence.

But before James could think more, Paul dragged him out of the restaurant.

"James, when we get back to class, they will probably suspect you as the thief. But don't worry Tyler and I can vouch for you. You've been with us the whole time and had no chance to commit the crime!"

Because Sarah and Evelyn were there earlier, Paul hadn't said this.

After leaving the restaurant, Paul softly said to James, "Yeah, I can vouch, too!"

Tyler nodded at James.

Hearing their words, James smiled helplessly and said nothing more.
