Chapter 134 The True Reaction of Classmates
Five minutes later, James and the others returned to the classroom.
However, the students in the classroom showed looks of disdain when they saw James return. They despised a thief like James from the bottom of their hearts.
Janet and Donna were completely unaware of what had transpired in the principal's office. Therefore, when they witnessed James and the others returning, they assumed they were there to announce James's expulsion.
"James, you're finally getting expelled from school. Let's see how arrogant you can be now!"
Jennifer sneered at James's seat and said mockingly, "So it's our class's master thief James. Are you here to beg for our forgiveness and ask for a chance to turn over a new leaf?"
James looked up at Jennifer when he heard this.
"People like him shouldn't be given a second chance; he should be expelled immediately!"
"Yeah, scum like him shouldn't be forgiven!"
"It's already good enough that he wasn't reported to the police!"
The students in the classroom shouted indignantly.
"Everyone, stop talking. Actually, James had his reasons for stealing money. After all, he's so poor and likes to show off. Without money, he can only steal to save face!" Michael shouted.
"If you don't have money, you should be humble. He likes to show off and even steals others' money to pretend to be rich. It's shameless!" Jennifer quickly added.
James looked at Jennifer and Michael expressionlessly, feeling not anger but a bit of amusement.
Driven by curiosity, James wanted to witness the expressions on their faces when they discovered the truth.
The students in the classroom, seeing James and the others return, assumed that James had already admitted his mistake to the principal and was now back to beg for a chance to reform.
So, most of them stood up and hurled insults at James.
James was never very popular in the class, and now with the theft incident, the students naturally despised him even more.
Paul and Tyler stood there dumbfounded, still unable to believe that James had stolen money.
Louis and Arnold initially wanted to go to the podium to clarify the situation, but James stopped them.
"James, I'll go explain for you now!" Louis whispered to James.
"No need. I like watching these people gloat. I'll make them pay for it later!"
James said coldly, then walked directly to the podium, squinting at the students below.
James thought that only at this moment could he see a person's true nature. He wanted to remember every student who had mocked him and then get back at them.
Seeing that James didn't want them involved, Louis and Arnold said nothing more and stood quietly to the side.
But Janet felt something was off because if James had really been expelled, Louis should have announced it immediately, not stood silently to the side.
"Mr. Sanders, what's going on?" Janet hesitated and asked Arnold softly.
"You'll find out soon enough!" Arnold replied indifferently.
Janet was even more puzzled after hearing this.
The students in the classroom became excited when they saw James walk up to the podium.
"James, how dare you come back to class? Having a thief like you in our finance department is a disgrace!"
"Yeah, you seemed so honest usually, but who knew you were like this! No wonder you suddenly had money; you were stealing it!"
"Using other people's money to pretend to be rich, how shameless!"
The classmates shouted excitedly at James.
James stood calmly on the podium, accepting their accusations without any intention of rebutting.
"James, what's going on?"
In that very moment, a person hurriedly entered the classroom from outside, addressing James in a perplexed tone.
"Nothing."
James turned his head and saw that it was Sarah and Evelyn.
Sarah and Evelyn had waited too long at the movie theater and couldn't reach Paul by phone, so they came to the classroom to see what was happening.
But as soon as they entered, they saw James being accused by everyone.
Paul looked panicked when he saw Sarah and Evelyn.
He thought that if Sarah found out about James stealing, she would leave James again.
Without hesitation, Paul swiftly rose from his seat and approached Sarah and Evelyn, pulling them aside. He inquired, "Evelyn, Sarah, what brings you two here?"
"Because you three didn't show up, and you didn't answer your phones, so we came to find you."
Evelyn pouted and then looked at James, asking, "Paul, what's going on here? Why is everyone yelling at James?"
"It's nothing, just a little misunderstanding. You two should leave."
Paul brushed it off.
"It doesn't look like a little misunderstanding. Did James do something bad?"
Evelyn frowned.
"No, of course not."
Before Paul could finish, Jennifer suddenly stood up and shouted, "You guessed right. James did do something bad. He stole our class funds and got caught. We're discussing how to deal with him now!"
Jennifer had long wanted to break up James and Sarah. When Sarah confessed to James at Savor & Vine Bistro, Jennifer was distraught.
Now that Sarah had come over, Jennifer wouldn't miss this opportunity.
"James, you stole money! You shouldn't have done that!" Evelyn shouted at James in disbelief after hearing Jennifer's words.
James glanced at Evelyn indifferently and said nothing.
Sarah felt her mind was in a whirl. How could a rich kid like James steal money?
Could it be that the money James used to buy the villa was stolen?
That was clearly impossible!
A super-rich kid who could casually buy a $20 million mansion wouldn't steal money.
Sarah wouldn't believe it!
