Chapter 377 Invite Miss Hall Up
James came back to Charles looking pretty down, then whispered, "Sorry, I got carried away earlier."
"Mr. Smith, you shouldn't have done that! Matthew was just trying to get under your skin and buy some time!"
Charles replied with a sigh, then glanced at the elevator door and muttered, "Now we just have to leave it up to fate."
James took a deep breath, then plopped down next to Charles and closed his eyes.
The office went dead silent, the only sound being the ticking of the clock on the wall.
Time was slipping away.
Charles kept his eyes glued to his phone. When the last half hour ticked by, he let out a helpless smile and sighed, "Maybe this is just how it's meant to be."
Sitting next to him, James knew what that meant.
Right then, James wasn't upset about losing the inheritance; he was crushed because Laura hadn't shown up. He never thought that even at this crucial moment, Laura still wouldn't forgive him.
"Mr. Soto!" Matthew called out excitedly to Eldon when the time was up.
Eldon turned to Matthew, then slowly stood up and said to Charles, "Mr. Wilson, the hour is up, and Miss Hall hasn't come. Can I announce the arbitration result now?"
Charles looked up at Eldon instinctively.
He had thought about asking Eldon to wait another half hour, but then he figured it was pointless.
If Laura really wanted to help James, an hour would have been enough.
But if she didn't care about James's fate at all, even a whole day wouldn't make her come.
"Mr. Soto, let's not drag this out. Announce the result already!" Matthew shouted impatiently at Eldon.
Eldon turned to James and Charles. Seeing that neither of them objected, he said softly, "Alright, then I'll announce the arbitration result. Based on the evidence provided by Mr. Edwards, we believe that Mr. Smith has violated the terms of the inheritance contract, so from now on, we will cancel..."
Before Eldon could finish, the elevator chime suddenly rang.
Charles's face lit up with excitement, and he quickly shouted, "Mr. Soto, please wait a moment!"
Eldon turned to Charles without saying a word.
James and Matthew looked at the elevator. Matthew started to feel a bit nervous, worried that Laura might suddenly show up.
The elevator doors slowly opened.
Everyone's eyes were glued to the elevator door.
But when they saw who stepped out, they were all stunned!
It wasn't Laura, but Sharon, the lobby manager of Innovation Hub Tower!
James's face fell, and he shook his head with a bitter smile.
"Sharon? What are you doing here?" Charles's face showed his disappointment, and he snapped at Sharon.
"Mr. Wilson, I..." Sharon seemed scared by Charles's tone and stammered, trying to explain.
Charles snapped, "Didn't I tell you this morning that I have a super important meeting today and no one should interrupt us? What are you doing here?"
"Mr. Wilson, I know you have a big meeting today, that's why I came up..." Sharon stammered.
"What are you doing up here?" Matthew thought Sharon might be trying to stall for James, so he shouted impatiently.
Sharon was taken aback for a moment, then nervously asked Charles, "Mr. Wilson, can I speak now?"
"Spit it out already!" Charles replied coldly.
Sharon quickly nodded and said softly, "Terry brought a woman here. They're downstairs now, saying they're here to see Mr. Smith. But I remembered you said no one could disturb your meeting, so I didn't let them up. Terry got a bit upset, so I had no choice but to come up and ask you if you want to see them."
Charles's face lit up with excitement, and he quickly asked, "Is the woman Terry brought named Laura?"
"I don't know her name, but Terry called her Miss Hall," Sharon hesitated and said softly.
"Then what are you still standing here for? Quickly bring Terry and Miss Hall up here!" Charles shouted excitedly.
"Bring... bring them up?"
"Yes, ASAP!" Charles pushed Sharon into the elevator, then quickly walked to Eldon and said loudly, "Mr. Soto, Miss Hall is downstairs. She'll be up in a minute. Can you wait a bit longer?"
Eldon hesitated for a moment, then said softly, "Alright, since Miss Hall is already here, let's wait a bit."
After saying this, Eldon sat back down.
James stared intently at the elevator, his face extremely excited.
At this point, whether or not James could still inherit the estate, he wouldn't be too sad, because he felt that as long as Laura showed up, it would all be worth it.
"Mr. Soto, the agreed time has passed. Why are we still waiting?" Matthew shouted excitedly at Eldon.
"Mr. Edwards, you are just the complainant in this arbitration. How we conduct the arbitration is up to ourselves, so you have no right to interfere!" Eldon glanced at Matthew and said calmly.
"You—!" Matthew's eyes flashed with anger, and he gritted his teeth, saying, "Fine, then I'll see how you plan to arbitrate James!"
Eldon glanced at Matthew without saying a word.
Actually, Matthew could sense that Eldon was somewhat biased towards James and Laura. After all, Eldon wasn't a fool; he could see what was really going on!
But Eldon couldn't arbitrate James's case based on his feelings. He had to act according to the evidence.
Charles couldn't provide evidence that Matthew had framed James, but Matthew had evidence that James had revealed his identity to Laura.
So Eldon had to arbitrate according to Matthew's evidence.
At this moment, the elevator doors finally opened again.
Terry was the first to step out of the elevator.
After stepping out, Terry bowed slightly, then raised his right hand and said, "Miss Hall, this way, please!"
