Chapter 85 Could His Identity Be Real?

At this moment, Craig's expression was one of helplessness.

Having worked for so many years, it was the first time he encountered such a situation where someone thought he was impersonating a manager from Summit Bank.

"I really am a manager at Summit Bank, but I forgot to bring my ID badge when I left!" Craig shouted, somewhat exasperated.

"This guy forgot his bank card, and you forgot your ID badge. Can't you come up with a better excuse for lying?" Kimberly mocked mercilessly, then threw the check in her hand to the ground and, with her arms crossed, shouted at James, "James, are you trying to fool everyone in our sales office? First, you said you wanted to buy a villa, then you brought an actor to play along, and now you give me a fake check. You just want to trick me into selling you a villa.

"You really underestimate me. I've worked in this sales office for so long and have seen all kinds of rich kids. I can tell at a glance whether you can afford a villa here. Trying to pretend to be a rich kid is just laughable!"

James stood there with a playful look on his face, seemingly helpless.

Because James never expected that the person Charles called would be so unreliable. Such a big client manager couldn't even prove his own identity.

Craig didn't expect things to develop like this and shouted anxiously at Kimberly, "Miss, I really am a client manager at Summit Bank. If you don't believe me, you can call the bank to verify!"

"I don't think there's any need to call the bank!" Sarah suddenly spoke up, then turned to Kimberly and said, "Cousin, impersonating a bank employee and forging a bank check are both illegal acts. I think we should just call the police and have them arrested!"

"Yes, call the police and have them both arrested!"

The other saleswomen in the office also shouted.

Pamela panicked when she heard Kimberly and the others wanted to call the police and quickly shouted at Craig, "Aren't you a manager at Summit Bank? Prove yourself quickly!"

"How can I prove it now? This is the first time I've encountered such a thing. I just came to deliver a check to Mr. Smith," Craig shouted, utterly exasperated.

"No need to prove it to us; you can explain it to the police later!" Kimberly said as she took out her phone to call the police.

Pamela, now scared, grabbed Kimberly and said, "Kimberly, we're all colleagues here. There's no need to blow this out of proportion! There must be some misunderstanding. Mr. Smith can't be a fraud!"

"Pamela, don't worry. I know you're not in cahoots with James. You must have been tricked by him. When the police arrive, I'll vouch for you!" Kimberly replied calmly and then proceeded to call the police.

"What's going on here? Why are you calling the police?"

At that moment, a middle-aged man's voice came from outside the sales office.

Kimberly froze upon hearing the voice, then quickly turned to see that the person who entered was the general manager of Harmony Realty Group!

Kimberly put down her phone and asked the middle-aged man with a smile, "Mr. Reed, what brings you here today?"

"I had some free time today, so I came to check things out. But before I even got in, I heard you all shouting about calling the police. What's going on?" the middle-aged man asked expressionlessly.

"Mr. Reed, here's the situation: someone is impersonating a client manager from Summit Bank and presented a fake check to trick us into selling a villa. We were just about to call the police!" Kimberly pointed at Craig and said.

Mr. Reed turned to look at Craig upon hearing this and was stunned, his expression one of shock. "Mr. Morris, what are you doing here?"

Inside the sales office.

Craig was also stunned upon hearing Mr. Reed's words and looked at him in confusion.

"Mr. Morris, you haven't forgotten me, have you? I'm Leonard Reed. Our company once took out a loan from your bank, and you were the one who assisted us. I even said I would treat you to a meal afterward,"Mr. Reed said and smiled at Craig.

Kimberly, Sarah, and the other saleswomen were all stunned upon hearing Leonard's words, their expressions extremely conflicted.

No one expected Mr. Reed to know this person!

And from Mr. Reed's words, it was clear to anyone with half a brain that Craig was indeed a client manager at the bank!

"Could his identity be real?"

A flash of fear crossed Kimberly's eyes as she looked at the check she had thrown on the ground, thinking, 'If Craig really is a manager at Summit Bank, then this check must be real too.'

Sarah, who had been urging Kimberly to call the police and have James and Craig arrested, was also dumbfounded, unable to hide her shocked expression.

"Oh, it's Mr. Reed. I remember now!"

Craig took a closer look at Leonard and instantly recalled.

"Mr. Morris, what brings you here today? Last time I said I would treat you to a meal, but you said you were busy. How about we go for a drink now?"

As the general manager of Harmony Realty Group, Leonard had a significant need for banks.

Every time they started a new project, they had to take out a loan from the bank and repay it after selling the properties.

Although Craig was just a small client manager, he was in charge of the credit department, so Leonard spoke to him very politely.

"Mr. Reed, your staff just said they wanted to call the police and have me arrested. I'm not in the mood to go for a drink with you!" Craig said to Leonard, his tone exceptionally helpless.

"What? Why would they want to call the police on you?" Leonard asked, his face darkening.

"I came here today to deliver a check to Mr. Smith, but these two women insisted the check was fake and accused me of impersonating a bank manager, so they wanted to call the police!" Craig explained accusingly, looking at Kimberly and the others.

Leonard turned to look at James upon hearing Craig's words.

Although James was dressed rather plainly, Leonard wasn't stupid. He knew that anyone who could have Craig personally deliver a check must have an extraordinary identity.

Leonard dared not show any negligence and spoke respectfully to James and Craig, "Mr. Smith, Mr. Morris, I apologize for this incident. I'll handle it right away. Please wait a moment!"

"Mr. Reed, I think you should discipline these two. I went through a lot of trouble to bring a distinguished guest like Mr. Smith to your sales office, and not only did your staff not thank me, but they also wanted to call the police. What's going on here?"

Seeing that Leonard had confirmed Craig's identity, Pamela's tone also became more assertive.

"No problem, I will handle this matter seriously!" Leonard replied in a low voice, then turned to Kimberly and the others, his face darkening. "Who said they wanted to call the police just now? Step forward!"
