Chapter 119 Pretending to Be Her Boyfriend
Everyone turned to look at James after hearing this, their expressions full of confusion.
They felt that Sarah wasn't the only one acting strange today; James was also behaving very unusually.
Evelyn was also amazed when he saw that James let him order whatever he wanted.
In fact, she ordered so much not because she wanted to eat it all but purely to make things difficult for James.
However, to her dismay, James remained unresponsive, leaving her feeling somewhat let down. Pouting, she uttered, "Since you're not letting me order, then I won't order anything at all!"
After saying this, Evelyn handed the menu to the waiter beside her and said softly, "Just these for now."
"Alright, I'll have the kitchen prepare it right away!" The waiter replied respectfully, then left with the menu.
Sarah stood up and said softly to James, "I'm going to the restroom!"
"Okay!"
James nodded.
Seeing Sarah leave, Evelyn quickly followed her to the restroom.
After Evelyn left, Paul directly asked James, "James, what's going on between you and Sarah? I feel like something's off with you two today."
"Yeah, she left the bar that day, but today, she seems even closer to you," Tyler added.
"After that night at the bar, I discreetly added Sarah as a friend on Facebook and explained everything to her. Surprisingly, she graciously forgave me!"
James naturally wouldn't say that Sarah was acting this way because she found out he was a super-rich second generation, so he just made up an excuse.
"I didn't expect you to be quite capable!"
Paul looked at James and smiled, then a hint of helplessness flashed across his face as he said in a low voice, "James, do you still have money? Is it enough to pay for today's meal? It's the end of the month, and I just paid the class fee, so I don't have much money left."
"Don't worry. Teacher Carter introduced me to a part-time job at a bar, so I have some money now. Paying the bill shouldn't be a problem!" James said to Paul with a smile.
"That's good!"
Paul nodded at James and didn't say anything more.
On the other side, Evelyn and Sarah arrived at the restroom.
"Sarah, what's going on with you today? We agreed to humiliate James together, but not only did you not help me humiliate him, but you even made me apologize to him!"
Evelyn pouted and asked Sarah who was touching up her makeup in the mirror.
"I never said I was going to humiliate James," Sarah replied calmly.
"Didn't you come here today to humiliate James?" Evelyn said, stunned.
"I didn't come to humiliate James!"
Evelyn asked, looking puzzled, "Then why did you come?"
"I came today to make James my boyfriend!" Sarah said methodically while touching up her makeup.
"Make James your boyfriend?"
Evelyn was instantly stunned upon hearing this.
"Sarah, are you crazy? Why would you want James to be your boyfriend? He's just a poor delivery guy!"
Evelyn couldn't help but gasp and shout at Sarah excitedly after hearing this.
Sarah put away her makeup and said calmly, "Yeah, I know he's a poor delivery guy, but I just want to find a poor delivery guy to be my boyfriend right now!"
"Why? There are so many rich kids at our school chasing you! Why would you want a delivery guy as your boyfriend?" Evelyn shouted hysterically.
Sarah couldn't help but laugh to herself after hearing this.
Compared to James, those rich kids were on a completely different level!
Of course, Sarah didn't want to reveal James's identity yet, so she casually made up an excuse. "Because I didn't actually want James to be my boyfriend, but rather wanted him to temporarily fill in for someone else."
"A temporary stand-in? What do you mean?" Evelyn asked, still very confused.
"Because Harold Lopez at our school has been harassing me. Although Harold's family is well-off, he's too ugly. To stop him from bothering me, I decided to make James my boyfriend. That way, Harold will back off. Do you understand now?" Sarah said helplessly.
"I see!"
Evelyn nodded, somewhat understanding, and then continued, "But Sarah, even if you want someone to pretend to be your boyfriend, you don't have to choose James. He's just a poor delivery guy. It's embarrassing to say it out loud."
"I chose James because it's embarrassing. I want Harold to understand that I, Sarah, am not a materialistic girl. Even if his family is wealthy, if I don't like him, it simply means I don't like him. I don't want him to constantly send me roses and annoy me to death in the future!"
Sarah had thought of this excuse for a long time. She felt that her enthusiasm towards James earlier would definitely arouse Evelyn's suspicion.
If Evelyn found out about James's identity, the whole art school would know. So she made up this excuse.
"I get it now!"
Evelyn nodded at Sarah, then said regretfully, "Actually, I think Harold is pretty good, just a bit ugly. But he's honest; at least he wouldn't cheat on you, and his family is rich!"
"James may not have money, but he's good-looking, so I chose him as my boyfriend. Once Harold gives up on me, I'll just dump James."
Sarah stood in front of the mirror, satisfied with her flawless face, then turned to look at Evelyn.
Evelyn still didn't understand Sarah's actions. In her eyes, looks didn't matter; money was key.
If a rich kid like Harold pursued her, Evelyn would agree without a second thought.
"By the way, please don't tell James about this matter. I am currently using him, and if he finds out the truth, he definitely won't agree to be with me!" Sarah said softly to Evelyn.
"Don't worry, Sarah, I know what to do! And even if James finds out, it doesn't matter. He's just a poor delivery guy. Finding a girlfriend like you is a dream come true for him!" Evelyn pouted and said with a disdainful tone.
Sarah couldn't help but laugh to herself after hearing this.
If James really became her boyfriend, the one who would be laughing in their dreams wouldn't be James, but Sarah herself.
Naive Evelyn thought Sarah was just using James, so she didn't think much of it.
