Chapter 257 1998 Lafite

"Ladies and gents, we're thrilled to have you at the Golden Elm Bistro today. This bottle of Bordeaux is a little gift from me to you. Hope you enjoy it!" Atticus said, placing the wine on the table.

Everyone was taken aback, their faces showing pure confusion.

James looked pretty embarrassed too.

Why did Atticus have to bring the wine now?

After speaking, Atticus glanced at James.

James quickly signaled him to take the bottle away.

But Atticus misunderstood, thinking James wanted him to leave quickly. So, Atticus awkwardly smiled, turned around, and left the private room.

James was speechless as he watched Atticus leave.

Thalia, Thalassa, and Leander stared at the wine on the table, looking puzzled.

Laura's mom, Isolde, hesitated for a moment and asked, "What's the deal with this bottle of wine?"

Elowen was also surprised and chimed in, "Yeah, who has the pull to make Atticus personally deliver wine?"

Thalassa hesitated, glanced around the room, and then said, "Among all of us, it seems only Leander knows Mr. Hayes, right?"

"Yeah, only Leander has that kind of influence. Mr. Hayes must've brought the wine because of Leander!" Thalia quickly realized and exclaimed.

She felt like she had regained her lost pride.

She patted Leander on the shoulder and said, "Leander, no wonder you didn't want to order wine earlier. You knew Atticus would bring it. Why didn't you tell me? We wouldn't have had such a misunderstanding."

Leander looked at Thalia, confused, because he had absolutely no idea why Atticus insisted on delivering the wine himself either.

"Oh, Mom, Leander might not have known if Atticus would bring the wine. If he had told us and Atticus didn't bring it, it would've been awkward!" Thalassa quickly chimed in to support Thalia.

"You're right. Leander is indeed thoughtful!" Thalia smiled proudly, then picked up the bottle of wine and examined it closely.

"What kind of wine is this and how much is it worth?" Thalia muttered as she looked at the bottle.

Honestly, she didn't care about the value of the wine.

The fact that Atticus personally delivered it was already a big deal.

James sat there, looking extremely helpless.

James had thought the meal would end smoothly, but who would've thought Atticus would show up with a bottle of wine now?

Now, Thalassa and Thalia, who had been listless, were lively again.

James knew better than anyone what was going on with this wine.

Thalia proudly walked over to Joe with the wine and said with a smile, "Joe, you love wine. Can you tell what brand this is and how much it's worth?"

Joe was taken aback by Thalia's words, then quickly took the wine and examined it seriously.

"Is this wine valuable?" Thalia asked Joe impatiently.

"Thalia, this is a '98 Lafite!" Joe exclaimed as he looked at Thalia.

"A '98 Lafite? What brand is that?" Thalia, not being a wine enthusiast, was puzzled and asked, "Joe, you know I don't drink much. Just tell me how much it's worth!"

Joe hesitated for a moment and then said slowly, "Maybe at least half a million dollars!"

Everyone's eyes widened in shock upon hearing Joe's words.

It was simply astonishing!

Thalia's face lit up with a proud smile upon learning the wine's value, and she became much more enthusiastic towards Leander.

Leander sat there, puzzled, not understanding why Atticus brought the wine.

Even if Atticus recognized him as the Vice President of Evergreen Investment Company, it was still too much.

Even Leander's boss, Lucian, wouldn't receive such treatment.

However, Leander thought he had to keep up the pretense, or all his efforts would be in vain.

Meanwhile, James was cursing Atticus in his mind.

Atticus was good at everything except for his tendency to flatter.

James had warned him not to reveal his identity.

Although Atticus didn't reveal James's identity, his actions caused James a lot of trouble.

Half an hour passed quickly.

Thalia was glowing with joy during the meal.

With such an outstanding Leander, she was naturally very happy.

Joe and Isolde, however, were filled with frustration. Laura was better than Thalassa in every way.

But Thalassa got a wealthy boyfriend like Leander, while their daughter was with someone like James, a delivery guy. They were naturally unhappy.

So, most of the wine was drunk by Joe and Isolde, as they used alcohol as a crutch.
