Chapter 96 Mind Your Own Business

Rex, after being slapped, tightly held his cheek and shouted at Pamela with wide eyes, "How dare you hit me?"

"I hit you, and I meant it!"

With James backing her up, Pamela spoke with full confidence.

After all, James was someone even Terry, the big shot of Lumina City, was afraid of. She was standing up for James, so she had no reservations.

Seeing Rex get hit, Linda was instantly upset. She stepped forward and shouted at Pamela, "Who are you? You can't just hit him!"

"This guy has a filthy mouth and deserved it. Besides, it's none of your business if I hit him," Pamela said domineeringly.

"You..."

Linda pointed at Pamela furiously, unable to speak another word, then turned to Rex and asked, "Rex, are you okay?"

"I'm fine!" Rex rubbed his cheek and replied in a low voice.

With Linda still present, Rex had to maintain his gentlemanly image, so he didn't retaliate against Pamela.

If Linda weren't here, Rex would have slapped her back long ago.

Hearing Rex's words, Linda turned to James with an agitated expression and said, "James, I'm begging you, please stop meddling. Whether I agree to be with Rex or not is my own business and has nothing to do with you!

"I admit I once considered you my best friend, but I never thought you were this kind of person. Maybe you think Rex isn't great, and I understand that, but no matter what, Rex is better than you, a man kept by a woman. So please, stay out of my business from now on. I don't consider you a friend anymore!"

"Better than me, a kept man?" James looked at Linda, puzzled.

"At this point, you're still trying to argue with me? That woman just stood up for you."

Linda glanced at Pamela and continued, "Even though she's a bit older, she's still quite attractive. It's quite a feat for you to be kept by such a woman!"

Everyone looked at James and Pamela with incredulous expressions.

If it weren't for Linda's words, they would never have guessed that James was being kept by Pamela.

"Who would have thought even a delivery guy could be kept? This world is truly amazing!"

"Yeah, that woman must be blind to keep such a loser!"

"And she's quite pretty with a great figure. What does James get to be kept by her?"

Everyone started discussing Pamela and James.

James looked at Linda with a helpless expression.

He never expected Linda to think he was being kept by Pamela.

"Linda, you misunderstood me. I'm not in that kind of relationship with her!" James explained, then stepped forward and continued, "Linda, I think you..."

"James, you don't need to explain so much to me. I don't want to hear or care about your business. I hope you won't meddle in mine anymore!" Linda interrupted James with a stern face, then turned to Rex and said, "Rex, let's go!"

"Linda, are you agreeing to be my girlfriend?" Rex asked Linda.

Linda hesitated for a moment, then said softly, "I am willing to be your girlfriend."

Hearing Linda's words, James felt as if he had been struck by lightning, standing there in shock.

He felt as if his heart had been pierced by a thousand arrows, causing immense pain.

He knew that if he hadn't come to stop Linda, she might have rejected Rex.

But now, out of spite, Linda had agreed to be with Rex.

Rex, hearing Linda's response, showed a pleased expression, then turned to James with a provocative look and walked away with Linda.

Soon, Rex hailed a cab, and they got in and left.

Seeing this, James's face was filled with helplessness.

If he guessed correctly, Rex would soon take Linda to a hotel.

By then, even if James tried to stop Linda, she would still think he was being unreasonable.

The misunderstanding between Linda and James had deepened, and Linda stubbornly believed that SuperSmith was Rex and that the person helping her was also Rex.

These were things James couldn't explain now.

Moreover, Linda had no intention of listening to James's explanations.

So James could only pin his hopes on Terry. As long as Terry could find Rex and help him get his account back, the rest would be simple.

Seeing James standing there in a daze, Pamela walked over and asked with concern, "James, are you okay?"

"I'm fine," James replied lightly, not saying much.

After all, the issues between him and Linda couldn't be explained in a few words.

James noticed many people at the store entrance looking at him like he was a fool, so he turned to Pamela and said, "Alright, let's go!"

"Okay!"

Pamela agreed, then took James's arm and walked towards the parking lot.

Five minutes later, Pamela drove James to a Western restaurant.

After getting out of the car, Pamela said to James with a smile, "James, this is the only Michelin three-star restaurant in Lumina City. Usually, only members can dine here, and even for members, it's hard to get a reservation. I had to ask many friends to help me book a table!"

Hearing this, James looked up at the restaurant's name and realized it was the same Moonlight Garden where he had met Laura before.

"I've been to this restaurant before!" James said softly to Pamela.

Pamela was stunned for a moment, then smiled and said, "Of course, James, someone like you must frequent such restaurants."

"That's true!" James replied lightly, not saying much, and followed Pamela into the restaurant.

Inside, James saw many people waiting in line.

Among them, he spotted two familiar figures: Linda and Rex.

It was clear that after successfully confessing to Linda, Rex borrowed a membership card and some money from a friend to book a table at Moonlight Garden.

His goal was to deceive Linda, and after this meal, he planned to take her to a hotel.
