Chapter 40 Three Conditions

After learning the reasons behind the situation, Laura contemplated for a long time.

She thought that if sacrificing herself could save the entire Hall Family, she was willing to make such a sacrifice.

She didn't want to see the downfall of the Hall International Group, nor did she want to see her father being thrown into prison.

Moreover, Laura believed that since she was designated to marry James, he must be a top-tier rich heir. After marrying James, she would be a great help to Hall International Group.

Nevertheless, Laura never could have imagined that the man she was about to marry was actually a poor delivery person!

Initially, Laura had abandoned her romantic ideals in favor of the material satisfaction and the stability of Hall International Group.

But the James who stood before her at that moment not only failed to fulfill Laura's material needs but also seemed to offer no help whatsoever to the Hall International Group.

Laura couldn't fathom why the overseas company had made such a request.

Meanwhile, James was lost in his fantasies about Laura.

Initially, James didn't have high expectations, nor was he particularly open to the idea of marrying Laura.

However, when he discovered that his fiancée was an exceptional beauty, he instantly changed his perspective.

"Laura, I won't agree to you marrying James!"

"I'm going to find my uncle and straighten this out – why would you marry such a person?"

After regaining her senses, Nancy took Laura by the hand and guided her out of the VIP room.

"No need to ask, I know what's going on!" Laura replied calmly, then walked over to James and softly spoke, "You are my fiancé, aren't you?"

"Yes!" James was initially taken aback by Laura's words, then awkwardly rubbed his head and said.

"Let's sit down and talk!" Laura continued.

Observing Laura's lack of intent to leave, Nancy's face showed confusion and frustration as she exclaimed, "Laura, you have nothing to discuss with him. You can't marry him."

While Nancy was unaware of the situation at Hall International Group, Laura was well aware of the circumstances. She knew that her only option was to marry James to secure financial support for her family.

As the eldest daughter of The Hall Family, Laura was always sharp.

Considering that even if James wasn't a rich heir, as long as Hall International Group could tide over the current period, even without James's wealth, The Hall Family could still thrive.

Moreover, Laura found it comforting that James seemed more controllable compared to other rich heirs.

"Laura, come back with me now. I'll convince my uncle!" Nancy couldn't bear to see Laura marry James, her expression highly agitated.

"No need, Nancy!" Laura said, then sat down elegantly, extended a finger to a seat opposite her, and said softly, "James, please sit down!"

James hesitated for a moment before taking a seat across from Laura.

"Are you James?" Laura softly inquired.

"Yes, I am James!" James nodded, looking rather joyful.

Seeing James' happiness, Laura's expression turned more disdainful as she softly said, "James, do you know why I'm here to meet you today? You should already know, right?"

"I know!" James nodded; before their meeting, Charles had briefed him on the situation with the Hall family.

"Since you know, I can marry you!" Laura's large eyes were fixed on James without a hint of hesitation as she spoke.

Upon hearing this from Laura, James was momentarily dumbfounded, as he had not expected Laura to agree to marry him so easily.

According to the terms of the will, James was to marry Laura within two years revealing his identity.

Although Charles had used coercive methods to force the Hall Family into a betrothal with James, it was essentially to solidify the relationship between James and Laura.

It did not mean that Laura had to marry James, and even if she did, it didn't necessarily have to be within two years.

Hence, James was worried about persuading Laura to marry him without exposing his identity.

Without revealing his identity, James was merely a poor delivery person.

Even an average girl might not want to marry James.

But to his surprise, shortly after meeting Laura, she readily agreed to his proposal.

"Laura, are you out of your mind? Don't agree to marry him!" Nancy's eyes widened in shock.

"Do you really want to marry me?" James hesitated and asked Laura.

"Yes, I can marry you! But I have three conditions. If you can agree to these three conditions, I can marry you anytime!" Laura explained slowly.

"What are these three conditions?" James knew that if Laura agreed so easily, there had to be more to it.

Looking at James' hesitation, Laura continued, "The first condition is that we can get married and publicly claim to be a couple, but in reality, we have no relationship!"

"Okay, go on!" James nodded.

"The second condition is that just because we're married, you cannot think about being intimate with me!" Laura looked at James and continued.

"Alright, what's the last condition?" James couldn't help but smile, sensing that Laura didn't really want to marry him. She just wanted him to help her with a play to secure Charles' investment in the Hall Family.

"The third condition is that no matter what I do, you have no right to interfere!" Laura said slowly.

"So I have no right to interfere with anything you do?" James touched his nose and asked softly, "What does that mean?"

"It's simple. If I meet a man I like, I can go out with him and you can't interfere. Similarly, if you meet a woman you like, you can do what you want, and I won't interfere!" Laura explained calmly.

"So, you want us to be a fake couple?" James asked.

"Yes, that's what I mean."

"If I say I'm willing to marry you for real, you probably won't believe me, so let's just clarify things."

Laura looked at James and spoke sincerely.

"Why should I do this? I won't get anything out of it." James asked in confused.
