Chapter 176 Break One of Your Legs
"Get me over there!" Yancy snapped, storming out of the private room.
Cynthia hesitated but followed him.
Soon, they reached the bar's main hall.
Cynthia was shocked to see James arguing with Xavier. 'Is James crazy? Hitting Xavier? He's asking for it,' she thought.
When Yancy and Cynthia arrived, the crowd around James and Xavier parted to let them through.
"Ms. Phillips, your staff has quite the temper, hitting my brother!" Yancy said coldly to Cynthia.
"Yancy, there must be a misunderstanding. Let me handle this," Cynthia replied. Cynthia's face was a mask of anxiety, her mind racing with thoughts on how to protect James today.
Meanwhile, after guiding Cynthia and Yancy back to the main hall, Timothy swaggered back to Michael and the others, his expression one of smug satisfaction.
"Where'd you go?" Michael asked.
"See that guy?" Timothy pointed at Yancy. "That's Yancy. James is in big trouble now."
Michael, Jennifer, and the others were thrilled. They didn't expect Timothy to bring Yancy, a big shot in the South New District.
"Now we just sit back and watch," Michael said, smirking at James.
On the other side, Xavier, who had been agonizing over whether or not to apologize to Jessica, saw Yancy's arrival like a lifeline. He rushed over to Yancy with a look of desperation and shouted, "Yancy, you finally showed up! That broke-ass waiter just slapped me several times in front of everyone! You've got to help me take him down—he's not just disrespecting me; he's slapping you in the face too!"
Yancy looked annoyed. "You can't handle a waiter? How can you protect the bar?"
"He's too strong; I need your help!" Xavier pleaded.
The crowd was shocked by their conversation.
"Is that really Xavier's cousin, Yancy?"
"I didn't expect Yancy to be so young. He's a big shot in the South New District with strong connections."
"James is in big trouble for messing with Yancy."
The bar staff, friendly with James, were worried. Only Michael, Jennifer, and their group were excited, ready to watch the drama unfold.
Seeing Yancy and Cynthia approach, Jessica took a deep breath and stepped forward, raising her voice. "Ms. Phillips, I'm the one responsible for today's mess. It has nothing to do with James. If you want to deal with someone, deal with me!"
"Who hit him?" Yancy asked Jessica, expressionless.
Jessica was stunned.
James walked up to Yancy. "I did."
"You've got guts," Yancy sneered. He turned to Cynthia. "Ms. Phillips, how do you plan to handle this?"
Cynthia looked troubled. "Yancy, James just started here. He probably doesn't know who Xavier is. Can you let him off this time?"
"Why should I? He beat me up! He has to pay!" Xavier shouted.
Yancy gave Xavier a calm look but said nothing.
Cynthia hesitated, then gritted her teeth. "Yancy, if you let James go, I'll give Xavier twenty percent of the shares."
"Twenty percent?" Yancy smiled and turned to Xavier. "Is that enough?"
"Of course not! He beat me up in front of everyone. It should be at least thirty percent!" Xavier shouted after he quickly grasped Yancy's implication.
"Ms. Phillips, if you give Xavier thirty percent and have this guy kneel and apologize, we can let it go. What do you think?" Yancy asked softly.
Cynthia hesitated, then turned to James. "James, apologize to Xavier!"
James glanced disdainfully at Xavier, then turned to Cynthia. "Why should I apologize to him?"
"James, what are you even thinking?" Cynthia shouted at James, her voice tinged with frustration. "I've just used thirty percent of the bar's shares to save your skin, and this is how you repay me?"
"Cynthia, you don't need to give shares to people like them," James replied calmly. He walked up to Yancy. "You're Yancy, right?"
"Yes, I'm Yancy," he replied.
"Have Xavier return the ten percent of shares he holds to Cynthia, apologize to the staff, and never show your faces here again. Do that, and I'll let you go. Got it?"
"James, are you crazy?" Cynthia shouted, her expression changing.
"Ms. Phillips, don't say anything," Yancy waved her off. He walked up to James, looking amused. "You said I should return the shares, and you'll let me go, right?"
"Right." James nodded.
"And if I don't?" Yancy smirked.
"I'll break one of your legs," James said, half-joking.
Yancy burst into laughter. "You want to break my leg? That's hilarious."
"Have you laughed enough?" James asked calmly.
"You really are..." Before Yancy could finish, James slapped him across the face.
